The offers are in but there is still a long way to go...

@CurlyhairedAssassin we tend to use either the Premier Inn or Travelodge at Orchard Park, mostly because of the cheap rates and ease of parking. What we save by doing that more than pays for a taxi eg for graduation, as opposed to staying in the city centre. It is only around 10 minutes by car to DD's college from there, although that depends on the time of day. You are most welcome to PM me if I can help further.

We always used the Holiday Inn, partly because we often had the bike carrier on the car for those trips and it's one place we were sure had some generous length spaces available. But it does get booked up and more expensive at the drop off/pick up times of year. (I used to use it for work visits to the science park).

rarely seen out of joggers and hoodies
Normal across all demographics afaik!

A slightly left field question. My DD got her A Level grades required for her offer which was lovely but this week had the more detailed breakdown of one of her A Levels.

It transpires that one essay she was given 0 marks. This was 50% of that paper and 10% of her A Level marks. It seems she didn't fill in the correct box on the front of the answer booklet saying which question she had answered. Fortunately it will not affect her grade but does explain why she just scraped the grade when she was a expecting to be comfortably reaching it.

Has anyone else had this experience? Her teacher is planning to raise it with AQA. Maybe it lead to it not being scanned in and not sent to an examiner? We are only guessing at this time.

@CurlyhairedAssassin @kitnkaboodle How went drop off for my fellow engineering parents?

DS has a lovely room although it's not in the main bit of the college as he hoped, but still, only about 30 secs walk from the porter's lodge. He seemed happy as we left, and was planning on trying to find the people he met at the freshers event, buy some fruit and milk and no doubt some beer (he has a mini fridge in his room) have a tour of the college and work out all of the places he has to be in the next 48 hours or so - there is a lot going on in terms of supervisions, maths tests, meeting fellow engineers in his college etc so I think he will be ok.

On the other hand, I've been in pieces since we got home, and am now wide awake at 0200 worrying about him settling in ok....ridiculous really! Hope your DSs settle quickly and happily. 🙂
