The offers are in but there is still a long way to go...

Youngest managed two years ago and her friends managed a year ago

goodbyestranger · 17/08/2022 16:17

Maybe it will be different this year though.

goodbyestranger · 17/08/2022 16:19

Hello Malbec hope all’s well. Have they really pumped sewage into our bit of coastline today?

goodbyestranger · 17/08/2022 17:14

And if they have, are there warnings out along the beaches?

Malbecfan · 17/08/2022 17:31

Hi @goodbyestranger nice to hear from you.

I was down at my bit of the coast today and people were in the sea again. It has poured down for 3 days in a row so the sea is pretty brown from the rocks. Cliff falls last week close to where you used to be. I haven't checked the sewage situation - no notices that I saw today. Enjoy France!

PermanentTemporary · 17/08/2022 18:03

Exhausted and tense here. Ds has just made himself dinner and gone out to a movie night at a friend's. I'm eating fridge food and now that it's one minute past six, a glass of wine. Aiming to be in bed by 8 to sleep off as much of the 12 hours as I can.

This is so dumb but I guess it is sort of a big deal in its own way.

Luckything50 · 17/08/2022 18:30

Hi all

SO glad you’re all there. I’m home alone as DS is somewhere in Europe interrailing and my partner is away. I’m getting v stressed and will also open wine I think.
I asked ds to give me a ring, I hope he remembers - I’ve been so (invested) interested in his academic life for 15 years +, I feel like this is a bit of a finale and I’ve no one to share it with 😞
glad to just know you’re all out there in the ether with fingers crossed

Panicmode1 · 17/08/2022 18:41

I'm about to go out with two other "stressed out waiting for A level results" mothers.....DS went to London with friends today and is about to go to the pub with DH just to try and chill them both out before tomorrow....!

Best of luck to them all, and @kitnkaboodle hope your DS recovers quickly and that Bristol isn't required 😊

heinztomatosoup · 17/08/2022 18:43

Hi all! Just checking in to say good luck to everyone. So nervous here! The very last hurdle to be cleared after all those months and years of planning and preparation and hard work!

Luckything50 · 17/08/2022 18:56

@Panicmode1 can I come too? My two friend’s kids have both gone the BTEC route - they have their results and no sympathy…

Panicmode1 · 17/08/2022 18:57

Of course @luckything50...more the merrier 😁 Chin chin🍸!

Letsgoforaskip · 17/08/2022 18:57

Good luck everyone!
We have a crazy day tomorrow involving way too many things in opposite directions so I’m really hoping I’m accompanied by a happy DS!

ladygrinningsoul · 17/08/2022 19:15

Good luck everyone! Wine being opened here too.

Storminamu · 17/08/2022 19:33

My DC (Scotland) was actually given exact percentages awarded for each subject, together with the grade boundaries. That really surprised me.

Genegenieee · 17/08/2022 20:12

Checking in - good luck to all tomorrow 🤞🏻

We are waiting for A levels and STEP results. Feel quite sick with nerves for DD ...

petitebleu · 17/08/2022 20:49

Wine poured here. This feels so much worse than the night before my A-level results. Trying not to pass on how tense I feel to DS who is strumming his guitar upstairs.

TerrifiedandWorried · 17/08/2022 20:53

Just popping back to say hope it all goes well for your DCs. DD has ended up with a contextual offer for Law at Durham so everything crossed she meets the grades. She's gone away with a friend and will be back late tonight so stress levels here are fairly low!

RubyDarke · 17/08/2022 21:18

Do schools get the results a day early like they used to in my day? Or do they just access a bit earlier than the students tomorrow morning?

SkygardenTower · 17/08/2022 21:19

🤞🏻for everyone tomorrow.

Stating the obvious but some will be disappointed, even with amazing grades. Oxbridge isn't everything and they will thrive at another university. It is sometimes easy to loose sight of that after working towards something for so long.

It has been a tough 2.5 years academically as well as emotionally, they are all awesome.

Yes the do. Universitys get them first then school got this this morning.

Stuffing the results envelopes...not sure what tuffing is 😂

CurlyhairedAssassin · 17/08/2022 22:35

That’s reassuring, @Panicmode1

DS actually said that Cambridge informed him that If any student misses a grade they should see the exams officer at school straight away to get their actual score and then contact Uni admissions. So im hoping slight leniency like that also applies to the very competitive unis too.

got butterflies in my stomach too now when I think about it. My DS desperately wants his Cambridge place, is 100% certain it’s for him. It’s his baby, this whole idea. So I feel like a nervous grandparent waiting for their first grandchild. 😆

A demain, mes amies! Bonne chance a tous!

(having flashbacks to French A-level results of my own 🤪)

Juja · 17/08/2022 22:50

Spent the evening chilling with DD watching Maid in Manhattan and a lovely home constructed Ice cream sundae.

roll on tomorrow …. Good luck to all whatever the exact outcome they’ve all given their very best.

Luckything50 · 17/08/2022 22:56

@CurlyhairedAssassin slightly unfair of Cambridge for those kids who are away, or board, or who’s exams officer isn’t available (or doesn’t actually exist in small schools).

i’m planning on calling the Oxbridge college if things don’t go well, and asking their advice. I’m not sure it’s the actual score that matters as much as all the other elements that are taken into account when offers are made.
