Hi @LaLaFlottes, good to hear from you. Hope your DD had a good second year and is ready to start year 3?

My DD loved year 2, living with friends in a nice house, working hard and playing even harder. She started back on Monday, and after 3 weeks at uni they start placements. I find it crazy that she has been told all her placements until the end of the course, thankfully she’s happy with them!

Best of luck to everyone as they start year 3!

Hello @LaLaFlottes and @Card1gan 👋🏻

I, too, am feeling a little nostalgic with the chat of the 2023 intake.

My Dd tolerated second year and is now into the start of third year.

But although I'm nostalgic, I'm glad I don't need to do the last two years again 😆

PS @Card1gan that is quite something 😆

My Dd doesn't yet know her placements between now and Christmas 😆 I'm hoping she gets told at least those soon. Must be utterly Uni dependent.

Hello @Card1gan and @LonelySock
Lovely to hear from you - I’ve been laid low with a chest infection since I posted and hadn’t checked for replies!

Great to hear your DC are getting on well 😊.

DD enjoyed being in a house rather than halls for 2nd year, with her friends. 2nd year was a step up from 1st and does have a reputation at DD’s Uni for being potentially tricky so she got her head down!

She had about 6 weeks off after exams in May and June then went back in July for a bit more clinical skills teaching and then started a 12 week placement with 2 weeks off in Aug (when the new junior docs start).

So she’s still on that at the moment until OSCE exams in Nov. Future placements are shorter I think, this one is more around learning their clinical skills.

She’s enjoying the placement but also finding it a bit stressful, especially when she does something for the first time. Worrying she might make a mistake and feeling a bit anxious about it. I’m hoping the more she does things the more normal it will become. She’s trying to throw herself into every opportunity to practice!

Luckily she decided along with her friends to keep the same house for third year which made things nice and easy as they are a lovely group and the house is very nice as student houses go!

@Card1gan that is very impressive about knowing all the placements! DD doesn’t know her next one yet! Although has to hopefully pass OSCE first. I remember in first year her volunteering to be a “patient” for them to practise on. Seems like 5 minutes ms ago!
