Fingers crossed for those final offers coming in!

Hope no one minds me starting the new thread...

Same here - DD had to upload a print out of her vaccination record from her GP. A couple of school vaccinations were missing so we had to get them added on.

LaLaFlottes · 29/08/2021 20:22

@Powergower it might not be a bad idea to ask the GP for a list of vaccinations for DS to take with him just in case he needs it when he gets there?

DD had to upload hers at the same time as her occupational health questionnaire but I know they all do things differently!

Powergower · 31/08/2021 21:46

We've got a printout from the gp. Just hope he remembers where he's put all this info and his passport. Just my luck that he'll lose the lot!

LaLaFlottes · 31/08/2021 22:03

Good plan @Powergower - best to have it to hand. It’s good you got it so fast!

ljmutti · 02/09/2021 16:26

Just wanted to ask are you going to visit during session or your kids planning to come home instead . I am talking about teen time. Are they allowed to come home during weekends? Is this advisable ?

withiceplease · 02/09/2021 17:00

Possibly oxbridge have some rules about being in college in full term for a certain number of nights - I'm happy to be corrected if this is wrong - but afaik most universities don't.
DD1 didn't come home at all in first term of university and I didn't visit. For DD2, she can do as she pleases and I'm happy to go there and take her out to dinner if she likes.
Personally I think it's important to stay there whilst it's all new and friendships being formed.

redtulip12 · 02/09/2021 17:37

Dd says she won't come home before Xmas. Apparently recommended not to!Would like to visit but will play it by ear.

GANFYD · 02/09/2021 18:08

I am lucky to have one living and 2 at uni in the same place, so we tend to go over now and again, announce the restaurant (or takeaway at #1's place) and any who wish to can turn up Smile

withiceplease · 02/09/2021 18:24

I am still having no success trying to give the university money for halls. It's due on Tuesday and not showing up on her university portal (she's abroad and I'm paying the money anyway)
Managed to speak to a person who gave me numbers that didn't pick up
I'll keep trying but I really want to record with someone that I have been trying to pay but I don't know who this would be.
I really don't want her to lose her hall place

LaLaFlottes · 02/09/2021 18:40

@withiceplease are you on Facebook? There is a page called WIWIKAU - what I wish I knew about university - you could join and then post of there to see if others are having the same issue or if they’ve found a solution?

LaLaFlottes · 02/09/2021 18:41

Maybe it will only show up on the portal on Tuesday when it’s due?

withiceplease · 02/09/2021 19:05

I have found email contacts for halls and phone numbers so I will call and email them tomorrow. I'm emailing so that I leave a trail to show I have tried.
There is no email to either finance or accommodation teams - just contact forms that says they'll get back to you in 5 working days which is too late for payment date
Not a universal issue in her halls or course as she's on WA groups

LaLaFlottes · 02/09/2021 19:18

Good luck @WithIcePlease I hope you get it sorted.

Card1gan · 02/09/2021 23:39

Hope everyone is OK and not getting too emotional at the thought of their DS/DDs heading off soon. I was just wondering when everyone was going? DD can move into halls from the 22nd and Freshers/Induction week starts on the 27th. DD is however heading over on the 8th for preseason sports training and will be staying on the floor of 2nd and 3rd year students from the teams who already have their student houses. Less than a week left for DD at home, the summer has flown!

emummy · 03/09/2021 06:21

DD is moving on the 10th, a week today, her course starts on the 13th. We have a shopping trip on Sunday planned for various bits of clothing she needs. Not too emotional yet, but that will come!

LaLaFlottes · 03/09/2021 08:01

DD moves into halls on 19th with intro week starting on 20th and then the course starts on 27th.
Exciting!! She gets her timetable on 13th so that sill be interesting to see.
I have my moments of feeling sad or emotional - I’m trying to stay in “excited mode” as much as possible for as long as possible but it’s hard!

@Card1gan that’s exciting to go early for sports! Is DD excited?

@emummy we are also clothes shopping this weekend - I predict a lot of times stood outside changing rooms for me!!

opoponax · 03/09/2021 09:00

DS moves into halls on 11th and his course starts on 20th. He has had a great summer and is so excited about starting and that makes me really happy. It is going to be hard leaving him there though. We haven't discussed clothes apart from which size scrubs to order so I imagine asos next day delivery will be saving the day!

withiceplease · 03/09/2021 12:21

Yay!! Finally paid. After 40 minutes of different numbers, I got a real life person and paid by phone
Apparently no bills been sent yet which must be anxiety provoking for many others too
Also, her slot to book arrival at halls - 19 or 20 September? - appeared then disappeared and now been told that arrival booking will open on 6th Hmm

She hasn't said she needs anything so no shopping list here - which is good as I still can't walk Confused

Powergower · 04/09/2021 06:38

@withiceplease glad you got it all sorted.

mumsneedwine · 04/09/2021 15:26

Good luck to everyone starting in the next few weeks. So exciting ! And makes that bumpy journey worth every struggle (I hope). 🍾

emummy · 10/09/2021 07:11

So today’s the day; DH has already packed the car and headed off for fuel. We then discovered he’d packed to clothes Dd left out for today! I’m sure everything else will go smoothly….

LaLaFlottes · 10/09/2021 08:36

@emummy exciting!! Do you have far to drive? That's so funny about DD's clothes for today Grin Have a great day and I hope DD has a brilliant time meeting everyone!

Millylovespuddles · 10/09/2021 11:05

@emummy have a great weekend and I hope all goes smoothly for you and her! Exciting times

emummy · 10/09/2021 14:04

We’re in, 2.5 hour drive, all smooth. She’s the first one here, got a nice recently decorated flat

LaLaFlottes · 10/09/2021 18:37

@emummy that’s excellent! So pleased it all went well and the flat is nice Smile
