Dd also under impression that it will only be for one term and that she will then get a single whilst others will get shared but be able to choose who to share with. She asked at the applicants day if this was the case this year and they said that was the plan but who knows now.

Many years ago when I was at uni it was also heavily oversubscribed, and at the last minute people were told they were sharing. The rooms were only singles with another bed squeezed in. I was so relieved to get a room to myself. However, some of my friends shared and I was actually jealous of the bonds they made. They became lifelong friends with each other.

As I mentioned, the Trevs doubles are a decent size so not two beds squeezed in or bunks! IIRC, each landing has four singles and a double.

@Meery Of course things could have changed, but if your DD will be disappointed to share, she might need to start managing her expectations. The system of sharing for one term has worked well for decades... just hope she loves it as much as everyone else if she does end up sharing. I'm sure she will, and if she's not sharing in the first term, she will get to choose who she shares with later on.

@GoTrevs my dd has been allocated a single at Trevs which she is happy about. I think it is Leia whose dc is sharing.

@Meery Sorry, I worded my post really stupidly! Is your DD 100% sure she won't have to change and swap for one term?

Ah I see, not had enough coffee yet! My dd did not want to share in first term but is happy to once she has settled in should Trevs ask her to.

We are staying at the Honest Lawyer on our delivery service this weekend - cheap but perfectly acceptable motel at the top of the hill.

Hi, can anyone give me some advice on what colour suits freshers wear to matriculation. Son has a navy suit, so I'm hoping this is ok? Also do they have to wear a white shirt? Thanks

@libbytrois I’ve just gone and looked at the matriculation photos on the Instagram page for my dd’s college, and I could see some freshers in Navy and grey suits, as well as black. Most are wearing white shirts, spotted one in a black shirt!
Does anyone have any suggestions for shoes for women that are suitable for the formals but are also comfortable?!

@SpringSparrow DD ordered a black block heel type slingback from new look ( wide of hoof sadly) very comfy, surprisingly smart and good price considering she will only wear them for formals. Certainly not high end but will do the job!

I'm sure any dark colour suit will be fine. DS has dark grey. We have just managed to dig out ds' 'smart' shoes which are looking decidedly unsmart at the moment, but they'll do. I can't imagine he'll need to wear them very often!

We went out shopping for stationery yesterday and bloody Rymans had every pen under the sun apart from a blank space where ds' favourite pens were. And evidently I bought the 'wrong' lined A4 paper the other day .

Hallelujah! After another chase DS has his accom at Collingwood itself! Huge relief and very grateful it was what he wanted. Just need to sort out storage when he is home for the holidays

He’s definitely in the system because he filled out the room form asa it arrived and also had an email asking how tall he was a couple of weeks ago, also replied to but it’s getting beyond a joke now . He has sent a very polite email this afternoon but it could be Monday now

Stephenson move in date finally confirmed as Sat. Lots of detail of what to do re parking & unpacking.

Bizarrely he has had an email about pre arrival stuff including testing regime etc . I have been super tolerant but it’s wearing thin now , I have that horrid chutney feeling 🙁
