Hopefully this is in the right place?

Cambridge offer just came through!

RunnersTipple · 25/01/2021 10:31

Just poked my head into TSR for preferred college and only redirections being posted so far.

RunnersTipple · 25/01/2021 10:32

Congratulations @FartAtTheMaddingCrowd and @pepperaunt

ofteninaspin · 25/01/2021 10:32

Echoing @SnapSnapDragon, I really do empathise with the anxious wait for your DC's results today. Congratulations to DC with offers so far. To those without, I hope disappointment is quickly replaced with enthusiasm for your other exciting offers.

Pumpkintopf · 25/01/2021 10:34

Congratulations fart and pepperaunt!

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 10:45

Congrats to latest offers. Very pleased for your dc
Aww Dd redirected. Lots of tears which surprised me because I’d thought she’d made her peace with it. Bless her. She says it’s worse as they told her she’d been pooled but not picked up.
I’m hoping she’ll feel a bit better in a few hours. She has Bloody lessons all day today!

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 10:48

I’m sitting with her atm so she’s not sad and by herself

Pumpkintopf · 25/01/2021 10:53

Oh @Beetlesand so sorry to hear. DS was pooled too but not picked up. We are telling him that means he was good enough and they wanted to take him, they just didn't have enough space. I'm sure many of our dc would have thrived at Oxbridge had there been room for them. Hope she's ok.

DS has just been down for a cup of tea and a quick chat - he too has lessons all day, maybe it'll be a distraction- let's hope!

RunnersTipple · 25/01/2021 10:54

I'm delighted to report an offer. Shamingly I burst into tears.

Pumpkintopf · 25/01/2021 10:57

Aww @RunnersTipple that's great - so pleased for your ds. Makes the Manchester interview a bit less important now I'm guessing?! Congratulations!

Tenpastseven · 25/01/2021 10:59

Still waiting here but have been reading all the posts. Congrats to those with offers and big hugs to those without. Oh it must be really hard to hear you’ve been unsuccessfully pooled. So damn close.

DahliaMacNamara · 25/01/2021 10:59

Well done to baby pepper, fart and kitten. Hope redirectees will be able to bounce back soon. They've all had enough to be resilient about this past year.
Irma: afaik, offers for straight Computer Science at Oxford were very thin on the ground this year. Slightly below 5% of applicants received an offer, and almost half of those were international students. Don't know about Cambridge.

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 11:00

Ah thank you @Pumpkintopf. I’ll tell her that later. At this stage she feels like none of the colleges wanted her. She’ll be alright.. she’s a plucky thing generally.

DahliaMacNamara · 25/01/2021 11:01

Ooh, a little tipple too. Congratulations.

GoldenMalicious · 25/01/2021 11:02

DS has had an offer through for engineering. Now the tough decisions have to happen as he also has an offer from another university where the course is a better fit for what he wants to study. But I think he will find it difficult to turn down C!

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 11:02

@RunnersTipple.. aww great news !Smile

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 11:04

Good news @GoldenMalicious!.. congratulations to your ds

bendmeoverbackwards · 25/01/2021 11:10

Well done to all the offers so far and I'm sorry to hear about the redirections. I hope all your wonderful dc are doing ok.

Nearly 2 weeks after dd was redirected from Oxford, she is already feeling much better about it. And she was bitterly disappointed at the time. I hope your dc will all bounce back quickly and see their other offers in a positive light.

It's a bloody horrible process!

Chilldonaldchill · 25/01/2021 11:11

Thanks for all the good wishes.
DD has an offer from the pool for a college we don't know much about but is central and looks lovely.
All the best to everyone else.

bendmeoverbackwards · 25/01/2021 11:11

@Beetlesand so sorry for your dd, takes me back 2 weeks! What offers does she have already? I think it's better to have a good cry and get it out.

321zyx · 25/01/2021 11:13

Congratulations to all the offer holders and commiserations to those redirected, hopefully they'll bounce back. Interesting piece in the paper on Saturday.

bendmeoverbackwards · 25/01/2021 11:17

Interesting @321zyx I can't decide if that makes me feel better or worse. Good to know that dd may well have got an offer in a 'normal' year but awful that this is yet another effect of covid Sad

321zyx · 25/01/2021 11:19

@bendmeoverbackwards I think it makes me feel a little better for DSSad

chitchattery · 25/01/2021 11:27

@Chilldonaldchill. That sounds like DDs college! Small, old, central and no one seems to know much about it! I am sure your DD will love it whichever one it is! Congratulations to you and other offer holders and bad luck to those who didn’t get what they hoped for. DS was a pooled candidate that was not fished and I think ultimately he did feel better about it because of that.

LaundryFairy · 25/01/2021 11:29

Congratulations to all of the DC with Cambridge offers and so sorry to those with redirections - it seems unfair that it is so close for so many in a year already full of uncertainty and stress. Given how amazing they must all have been to get this far, they will no doubt flourish wherever they decide to go.
