Amazing news @CoolKittens 🥳🥳

fabtasticmrpox · 25/01/2021 09:16

Just popping in to wish good luck to all c applicants . Congrats to cool kittens ds

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/01/2021 09:18

It is a no for Ds for computer science but he does have offers from 4 other unis so that is something to be grateful for. This is the end of the waiting.

Good luck to everyone else and congratulations to cool's DC.

derekthe1adyhamster · 25/01/2021 09:18

coolkitten congratulations! I wasn't expecting anything so early. DS doesn't have a lesson until 12.30. I do not expect to see him much before 12 Grin

Vargas · 25/01/2021 09:19

Fantastic news @CoolKittens !!

Vargas · 25/01/2021 09:20

So sorry to hear it @OnTheBenchOfDoom but so glad to hear there are 4 other offers on the table.

SnapSnapDragon · 25/01/2021 09:21

Good luck everybody. Only parents who have been through it before can understand how agonising this process is for you. I'm not sure many DC can understand it actually: I had far more sleepless nights than DS. Anyway, the agony, even more prolonged than normal, will be over very soon. I shall enjoy thinking of those on cloud nine today and sympathise with those who are not.

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 09:24

Aww fab news coolkittens

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 09:26

Sorry to hear that @OnTheBenchOfDoom but v glad to hear he’s got some smashing options to decide between Smile

Pumpkintopf · 25/01/2021 09:29

@CoolKittens fantastic news congratulations!

It's a no here. Bit gutted for him, fingers crossed for Imperial now.

@RunnersTipple any news?

FlyingSquid · 25/01/2021 09:33

Sorry to hear that, Pumpkintopf and OntheBench. We’ve been on both sides of the fence on this one.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/01/2021 09:33

Thanks, I am a positive person (as is Ds) so on the bright side Cambridge was the furthest away Grin

He has Manchester, Durham, Warwick and Leeds, he has discounted Leeds already so it leaves 3. He wants to visit them first which may be problematic now. Very difficult to choose something you have never seen in real life. He will do well wherever he goes.

RunnersTipple · 25/01/2021 09:34

Ah @Pumpkintopf I'm really sorry to hear that, and @OnTheBenchOfDoom too. Congratulations @CoolKittens

Nothing here yet, thanks for asking Pumpkin, fingers crossed your DS gets Imperial offer very soon.

Vargas · 25/01/2021 09:36

So sorry @Pumpkintopf . Cross fingers for Imperial.

FlyingSquid · 25/01/2021 09:36

Very different places, Bench! What kind of a kid is he? Big city versus collegiate-with-traditions versus campus life makes for quite a different experience.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/01/2021 09:51

@Pumpkintopf fingers crossed for Imperial.

@FlyingSquid he is introvert so great in small groups and would love tutorials more than lectures, he doesn't really drink, mature for his age in terms of sensible etc. Doesn't go out at all even before lockdown, all communication with mates is on voice chat. But happily rolls with stuff, isn't afraid to try new things, so wouldn't be cowering in his room.

I think he would do better with Durham with collegiate system and it would be a guaranteed because they have given him a contextual offer of AAB (predicted A* x3 plus A) if first choice or AAA if not. I think Manchester could feel too big and Warwick would be good as campus based. I am not influencing anything though, I want it to be his decision.

Crikeyblimey · 25/01/2021 09:55

Well, joining the ‘no’ camp here. 😢
DS says he’s ‘ok’ and he does have offers from all the other four. So onwards and upwards.
Rooting for everyone who hasn’t heard yet.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/01/2021 09:58

Welcome to the club @Crikeyblimey it was a lovely ride whilst it lasted wasn't it? Grin

I am genuinely rooting for everyone else.

Beetlesand · 25/01/2021 10:02

Sorry to hear that @Crikeyblimey . Great that he has 4 other offers!
Also @Pumpkintopf-hope your ds hears from Imperial soon.

languagebridget · 25/01/2021 10:06

My DD has received an other but from another college to her original application, as she was pooled. This is for Maths.

languagebridget · 25/01/2021 10:07

should read "offer".

IrmaFayLear · 25/01/2021 10:08

On the computer science, has anyone actually ever had an offer? Confused. Dd’s friend with all grade 9s was rejected. And ds’s friend with 4 x A* at A Level missed out too. Perhaps the course doesn’t even exist....

Ironoaks · 25/01/2021 10:11

@CoolKittens congratulations to your DC on the NatSci offer. My DS started the course in October, so if you have any questions then PM me.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/01/2021 10:27

@IrmaFayLear I think there is only 1 other MNetter posting on this thread for Computer Science but a different college to Ds. I am not going onto TSR to look Wink

FartAtTheMaddingCrowd · 25/01/2021 10:27

DD has just got her email - an offer to study Law. Yay!!! so pleased it came early in the day the wait was so stressful.
