Hopefully as the title suggests we will actually get up to results on this thread! Only 5 weeks to go.

Thanks, Millicent - I've mainly been lurking but appreciate these threads as we wait nervously for those five weeks to pass. I have a DS waiting to hear if he's got his offer to start in the autumn.

Oratory1 · 08/07/2020 18:26

You don't think we can use up 40 pages in 5 weeks :)

Hoghgyni · 08/07/2020 18:31

Experience says we easily can.

aibutohavethisusername · 08/07/2020 18:40

Placemarking. It is getting so real now.

Newgirls · 08/07/2020 18:41

Hi gang - here’s to more chat about chartering planes, mattress covers and A*s

DuckyMcDuck · 08/07/2020 18:52

Thanks for a shiny new thread Smile

Was in Wilkos today and they have a sale on - got DS a lovely soft blanket/throw for £2.50. It's the first thing I've bought for his 'going-away' pile.

DuckyMcDuck · 08/07/2020 18:54

Just had a chuckle, an advert for East Essex College keeps appearing on my pages with the interesting marketing line 'stay local, stay safe'!

Wonder if it will work - although certainly not on us as we're not in the slightest bit local to there Grin

Just marking my place again, these threads move do fast

specialted · 08/07/2020 19:18

Place marking

MillicentMartha · 08/07/2020 19:36

The last two thread titles optimistically had ‘results’ in! Blush

Thank you @MillicentMartha for the new thread. I bought DS some over-door hooks this week. He looked a bit underwhelmed.

MillicentMartha · 08/07/2020 20:37

Not as underwhelmed DS was by the 15 pack of Bold washing capsules I popped into the trolley for him! Grin They’re 3 in 1 and don’t need fabric conditioner.

But... over door hooks? Great idea.

Thanks for the new thread. I keep adding to the list of things to get for September but haven't actually bought anything yet!

KingscoteStaff · 08/07/2020 20:58

Lovely new thread. DS has departed for France with one small bag and a ridiculous new pair of sunglasses that make him look like a rugby playing Jackie Onassis.

sandybayley · 08/07/2020 20:59

I'm here! Nothing much happening except DS1 has cricket on Sunday and has amassed an impressive group of tutoring clients. Booked a nice restaurant for lunch on results day but as it will be a Thursday no £10 discount.

Whoops x 3

SeasonFinale · 08/07/2020 21:06

Checking in. I wonder if we will announce results here.

MillicentMartha · 08/07/2020 21:19

That’s a good question SeasonFinale. It depends, I think. MN tends to attract invested parents and their DC often do better than average which can make it seem a bit intimidating. Results have been shared in the past and it’s nice to have somewhere fairly anonymous to celebrate or commiserate. It’s not like sharing them on FB which can be seen as rather boastful. It would be lovely to hear of the MN DC’s successes, but being mindful that some will be disappointed. It’s normally a pretty supportive thread with only occasional differences of opinion. I’d hope we can share results, celebrate or commiserate and offer some helpful advice if necessary.

Kingscote is he having to quarantine on arrival?

errorofjudgement · 08/07/2020 21:23

Checking in.
Though DD has just lobbed a curve ball at us.
She’s been offered a place on a drama foundation course, and is seriously considering it.
Honestly just when I thought the plans were settled. Confused

KingscoteStaff · 08/07/2020 21:38

No quarantine into or out of France. His contribution to the party is apparently the early morning baguette run and the late night washing up.

spababe · 08/07/2020 21:40

Getting close to my DS's 18th birthday and haven't a clue what to do to make it 'special'. What's gone well for you if you've celebrated an 18th in lockdown?

MillicentMartha · 08/07/2020 22:08

DS’s was before pubs and restaurants opened up, so we just got a takeaway in and he met up with friends online. I decorated the living room with big number balloons and banners etc. We went to a wildlife park. Not your traditional 18th! I’d be tempted to book a pub lunch to buy him his first legal pint.
