Piggy Happy birthday. Well done on the remark result although really it should be Angry to the exam board. It’s a bit of a game of chance this A Level lark isn’t it?!

Decorhate · 11/09/2019 18:45

Happy Birthday @Piggywaspushed & well done to your ds on his remark.

JennyWreny · 11/09/2019 18:56

Woo hoo! Well done to Piggy DS and Happy birthday to @Piggywaspushed !!!

Decorhate · 11/09/2019 19:05

I’ve just been reading elsewhere about accommodation shortages in Bristol & Portsmouth. Is everyone here sorted out now?

Ginfordinner · 11/09/2019 19:11

Happy birthday Piggy and your DH CakeWine

I bought DD a 3 tier airer from The Range for £9.99.

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2019 19:36

Great news and happy birthdays Piggy!

@Benjispruce, no nothing at all AFAIK, presuming nothing today (DS on way home from work) Surely they will confirm they have a single room or whatever at least?!

Mustbetimeforachange · 11/09/2019 19:37

I don't know 3 or 4 people born on every other day of the year, but I know several on Sep 11th, including one turning 18 today.

Piggywaspushed · 11/09/2019 20:06

Thanks all. Just back from a nice curry! DS even mentioned university in a jolly fashion. Or at least where the nearest curry house would be!

Yes, zanda it is all aggravating. He only got 15/80 for this paper , and must have gone up by at least 6 marks : so that shows how wrong the examiner was that someone else managed to find at least 1/3 more marks.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 11/09/2019 20:55

A curry sounds just the ticket @Piggy. Impressed that your DS is wondering where the local curry house will be. Like to see he's thinking about the important aspects of student life!!!!

I don’t know if this has been discussed already as I haven’t been regular on here but DS went to the dentist today and was given another form to complete HC1. This will ensure he continues to get the reduced dental charge rate up to age 19, so please ensure your 18/19 fill out this form and send it off. Smile.

Mustbetimeforachange · 11/09/2019 22:22

I thought they got dental & free prescriptions until they were 19 anyway? DD & DS1 did.

Shimy · 11/09/2019 22:40

Yes they do, but according to the dentist, after age 18 they have to complete this form (HC1)to say they are 19 and still in full time education.

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 11/09/2019 22:52

JennyWreny I ordered it in Amazon,it was a tenner iirc.

Well done on the remark Piggy

Benjispruce · 11/09/2019 22:56

Tilly yes I’m expecting to hear that she has a standard room as that’s what most of them get. Not sure if she applied for en-suite in the end as she didn’t want to vacate for holidays. I really hope she doesn’t have to share- for her room mate’s sakeGrin

Benjispruce · 11/09/2019 22:57

We have dentist next week as she’s 19 the week after!

Mustbetimeforachange · 11/09/2019 22:59

Oh I see, Shimy, once they are turning 19. I have a young one so it seems a way off!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/09/2019 06:26

I can't help but think that @Mumsnet could have been making a fortune from 'affiliate links' on this thread. Look how many items have been recommended and linked to, particularly from Amazon!!! Just an aside... as you were...

BTW hope you are okay @Shimy? Some of those peeps on your backpack thread are being a bit 'AIBU' in their comments, aren't they?

My ds went to the dentist yesterday. No form to fill in. He just signed the iPad to say he is in full time education. He's not 19 until next May so they suggested coming back before he's 19.

Shimy · 12/09/2019 07:37

I’m very well thank you @NewModelArmyMayhem18. Please what thread is that? WinkGrin.

MrKlaw · 12/09/2019 09:13

Still no info on accommodation for DS for Bath. May really be Friday afternoon before we hear so we've kept Saturday clear if we need any emergency shopping.

Dreading the potential (likely) shared accommodation as my DS is point blank refusing to even consider it. I don't want him doing a year out - he'll just doss, plus maths don't recommend it..

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 12/09/2019 09:47

I can't believe you still haven't heard MrKlaw That's really poor from Bath.

Alicatz66 · 12/09/2019 10:12

Anyone have DC going to Nottingham? Seems to be running quite smoothly ... DS has accommodation address.. we have drop off slot .. I've mainly left him to it but am going to sit and work our budget with him at weekend and get a few last bits and bobs. I've been getting ideas from here about what he needs !!!
