Following on from our previous thread.

Good luck to all DC awaiting results and university places.

School question: Is it only the SLT and the Exams Officer(s) who get to see the results today?

Annie that's great - congratulations! Exciting times Smile

mumoy · 16/08/2019 18:58

Head of Centre (Headteacher) decides who can see results on embargo day.
Usually Headteacher, Exams/Data staff and SLT, some Headteachers extend this to HOD

Shimy · 16/08/2019 19:09

@Mykingdomforanickname You are correct!

Mykingdomforanickname · 16/08/2019 19:11

Thanks Shimy!

The UEA crew has really grown, I'm losing track of who is in it.
DS2 is off to do Geography and is hoping for the zigurrats but has not heard yet.
DS1 is just entering year 4 of a 5 year course there so I know all of our DC will be fine and love it.
DS1 was in the village for year 1 and enjoyed the capsule ensuite.
I'm happy to help with any info I can.
In the meantime I need to get DS2 to get his freshers wristband.😁

juicy0 · 16/08/2019 19:15

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I'm trying to convince her to get it, even if she doesn't go to everything at least she will have the option.
She is in Barton house. Anyone else?

scarecrowhead · 16/08/2019 19:19

Lancaster people - have you seen the different moving in days ?:
Sat 28th- County, Fylde, Lonsdale, Pendle
Sun 29th - Bowland, Cartmel, Furness, Grizedale

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/08/2019 19:22

@juicy0 DD in Barton...

And you need 2 wristbands for "Freshers fortnight"
it's endless....

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/08/2019 19:24

@sluj
that's great to know-thanks so much!!
I'm sure we will have lots of questions!!

juicy0 · 16/08/2019 19:25

@mumsiedarlingrevolta which flat?

Piggywaspushed · 16/08/2019 19:26

Please tell me that not all students are obsessed with Freshers' Weeks? We didn't have them in my day. I am sure to some students actually the whole notion is quite off putting (and seems to be another expense). I'm not getting a wristband for DS. Can't see him getting Value for Money!

AnnieDianaLulu · 16/08/2019 19:32

Thank you @Laniakea :)

@Piggywaspushed well I have 0 interest in freshers, I know I'm a couple years older than the youngest but I'm not considered a mature student or anything Grin and will not be participating in that at all... people have said I'm wasting an experience and won't have any friends lol but it's whatever. I'm not doing it for those reasons and I don't believe I will hate uni if I don't do it.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/08/2019 19:39

@juicy0 tried to message you as felt a bit off posting her accommodation but kept telling me you weren't a valid address??
do you want to message me?
also don't want to highjack thread too much...

Piggywaspushed · 16/08/2019 19:41

Thanks annie and congrats on your success!

ifonly4 · 16/08/2019 19:42

Mykingdom, I don't get to see anything myself, but DD told me it was the same for Edinburgh. Apparently she just has to keep an eye on her account, which is already set up as insurance candidates would add accommodation preferences months ago.

icanbewhatiwant · 16/08/2019 19:49

I've only just found this thread.
I have enjoyed reading most of it. It's a shame I didn't find it early yesterday! This university stuff is all new to me, having not been myself.
My son is also going to UEA. How do those of you with dc going there already know your accommodation?
Yesterday my son refused to look online to see if he had a place. He turned email notifications off the night before. Then he drove to pick a friend up to take to collect the results. While he was waiting for his friend to get ready he got a text saying congratulations on your first choice place. He was annoyed they text him. But obviously pleased with his first choice.
He didn't tell me his results, I was at work, I asked him to text. I actually found out through another family member around 11am. My son enjoyed keeping me in suspense!

LIZS · 16/08/2019 19:50

@ifonly4 do you mean you don't need to do anything for Edinburgh at moment, or do? Dd was sent link to a registration form but no timeframe to complete it.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 16/08/2019 19:55

What is a freshers wristband?

sluj · 16/08/2019 19:58

I wonder if some clever person could make a UEA thread to save boring others? (I'm enjoying the Lancaster posts though as I went there many moons ago).
DS just bought a week one freshers wristband and also got an email saying they are sending out his accommodation offer on Wednesday and he has 3 days to accept it.

ifonly4 · 16/08/2019 19:59

LIZS DD out at moment so can't check. She hasn't mentioned a registration form, just about keeping her eye on account. She's an insurance candidate, so maybe they follow on.

Has your DD been notified re: acommodation? DD's friend who is firm heard today. Apparently it says by 30/8 on DD's account.

LIZS · 16/08/2019 19:59

It is a entry pass into the Freshers' week events. Usually cheaper to buy than tickets for individual events.

juicy0 · 16/08/2019 20:00

Sorry, yes of course you are right @mumsiedarlingrevolta I'm not sure I know how to message you directly........

LIZS · 16/08/2019 20:01

Dd also insurance. Did I read that they would not offer deferral? It is daunting to change mindset in time for such an early start date.

LIZS · 16/08/2019 20:02

No accommodation offer yet.

ZandathePanda · 16/08/2019 20:04

Newcastle’s wristband includes food.
