Just when exam season gets fully underway our previous thread has almost filled up. Everyone welcome Wink.

Well done to your DS GoldenRuby. What a relief knowing that his place at UEA is a given now.

Justasking111 really hope your DS starts feeling better soon. DD has had a really horrid virus (very catarrhal) but seems to be recovering well now. No sign (thankfully) that DS is getting it yet...Parents both had something similar (although theirs lasted longer) which lasted for a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear about the theory driving test, Piggy. DS hasn't even thought about doing it as yet.

Error hope TLC and chocolate have had the desired effect. The revision does seem relentless and still two weeks (plus) of it to go.

Ooh golden well done to your DS. Amazing result!

justasking111 · 31/05/2019 13:13

Well done Golden amazing result.

Back to GP this morning, son woke up was puking blood, panicked somewhat, so phoned gp. he is now on antibiotics 500mg four times a day for ten days. But GP did say if we thought they were not working then go to out of hours or A and E over the weekend... sheesh....

sluj · 31/05/2019 13:58

Great news Golden. DS1 is at UEA and it's been great, fingers crossed DS2 gets the grades to join him. Has he chosen his accommodation?

ZandathePanda · 31/05/2019 16:06

justasking your poor Ds. I would be down to A&E tomorrow morning/early afternoon, if he’s not much better, before the evening rush.

errorofjudgement · 31/05/2019 17:00

JustAsking that sounds awful, I hope the ABs are kicking in but if he’s still being sick then I think would seek further advice as that sounds truly horrible.
GoldenRuby congratulations to your DS! The BTEC route is great for getting early results. One of DDs friends has his place at Durham confirmed as his BTEC results are in.

GoldenRuby · 31/05/2019 17:30

Thanks everyone. We weren't expecting the early confirmation so it's a nice surprise. @sluj yes - he wants Village Plus or failing that Campus En-suite. He will be fine whatever he gets I think.

@justasking111 sounds awful. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Shimy · 01/06/2019 07:58

@Golden Well that’s just splendid news! DS can just focus on uni shopping, partying and enjoying the summer. I’m actually quite jealous of you guys. We visited UEA as well and VillagePlus was lovely. Really nice, cleaners come twice a week etc.

@Justasking I really hope you all make a fast recovery. It’s horrible everyone being sick at the same ime. Hopefully this sunshine (it’s sunny here) will cheer everyone up and accelerate recovery and DS will be fit enough for his exams. Good luck!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/06/2019 15:27

justasking111 is your DS showing signs of improvement now he's been on the antibiotics for 24 hours? How are you? Hope you've got a doctor's note to verify that he's been really poorly over half-term?

OP posts:
justasking111 · 01/06/2019 15:43

Did not go in with DS OH would not allow it said he should go alone, so did not get the chance to ask about a sick note. DS would not do it himself. He is better this afternoon, woke us up at 5am awful stomach pains, needed the loo, then ate some toast had first pills an hour later, two hours after that had some pasta, has nibbled on a few brownies, has no voice at all, but says he feels a bit better, fever has broken at last.

It is a pain he cannot eat two hours before and one hour after taking these pills, so fitting four doses in is a challenge. He has a window now until 4pm then nil by mouth until 7pm tonight food can be eaten until 9pm then last pills at 11pm. he can then eat at midnight if he is still awake. yawn....

juicy0 · 02/06/2019 16:10

justasking111 I hope things are improving, I really feel for you! I can't imagine adding illness on top of the stress of revising!

Really pleased for you golden, a nice surprise to get the news early and now the pressure is off and you can start your summer

4 exams for DD this week and tears were shed yesterday at the thought of chemistry, her trickiest subject. Im trying to keep her well rested, fed and am on hand for pep talks and hugs when required (and of course with the chocolate!)

18 days to go until the last exam Wine

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2019 16:15

It emerges today that DS doesn't know his own exam timetable and was busily revising ( last minute obvs) for one exam tomorrow. Turns out it's two. I think this might be the horrific day of multiple clashes but we never did get written confirmation so I don't know....symbolic as usual.

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2019 16:16

That was meant to say shambolic...but symbolic works I guess.

minesawine · 02/06/2019 16:29

Good luck to those doing maths this week. My DS is very nervous

Danglingmod · 02/06/2019 17:06

Jeez, Piggy. Ds's school does sound shambolic!

justasking111 · 02/06/2019 17:28

Oh Piggy that is awful for DS

ZandathePanda · 02/06/2019 17:35

Sounds like many are gearing up for the week from hell. Dd has only done two exams. By Thursday she’ll only have one exam left. She’s doing humanities so you would think they would try and avoid putting these all together. So many quotes that would benefit from a last minute refresh.

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2019 17:52

Oh gosh justasking, your poor DS - hope he improves quickly.

Piggy Shock Was he given an incorrect timetable? How awful. At least he found out before and so won't miss the exam, but he must be beside himself.

DS has 3 this week - 2 on one day and one on another. Better than some clashes though!

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2019 17:55

Oh also meant to say congrats GoldenRuby!

DH is marking this year - quite a narrow path to tread between being too harsh and too generous, and he has nearly 30 years teaching experience. Makes you realise how easily grades can be missed by the marker.

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2019 18:03

tilly no, not an incorrect timetable. Just a timetable with some exams cryptically highlighted in pink!

I had put this all to the back of my head but am surprised they haven't emailed or sent a letter to remind us , since the penalty for me failing in my duties is pretty severe!

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2019 18:03

zanda all DS's are done by Friday bar one as well. It does all seem very squashed this year.

Shimy · 02/06/2019 21:41

Good luck to everyone for this week. DS has 3 exams, starting with Computing then MATHS😬. He spent the whole week break revising, Just wish he had put in this amount of dedication over the last two yrs. oh well! 🤷🏾‍♀️

errorofjudgement · 02/06/2019 22:10

Good luck and best wishes to all our DC this week.

justasking111 · 02/06/2019 22:41

Good luck to all tomorrow and the rest of the week some intensive exams will be done and dusted by the weekend.
