Congratulations to GoldenRuby’s DS!

Commiserations to justasking111’s DS. Hope he is much better very soon.

Piggywaspushed your DS is giving me palpitations! I’ve just rechecked mine’s timetable online just in case. Hope he copes well tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone for the coming week.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/06/2019 06:15

Good luck to everyone's DC this week. It does seem to be an intensive one for many.

Piggy hope keeping your DS under house arrest away from technology overnight is not too much of a PITA.

Justlurkiing hope your DS has rallied?

Good luck everyone for this week.

DS has exams on Tuesday and Thursday.

I am also banning him from evening computer/gaming, he’s not happy!

whereshalligo · 03/06/2019 08:10

Exam clash here physics and politics, doing physics this morning then in isolation until 13.15
He's not looking forward to it. At least physics done by the end of the day. Apparently they bring them lunch but Ds taking sandwiches as well incase it's not up to his standards.
Good luck to everyone it's the big week for most.

LIZS · 03/06/2019 08:19

Finally start on Wednesday with a clash then Thursday am.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 08:28

So many clashes!

It isn't too much of a pain, although supervising him doing non IT focused revision will be interesting...

I think he is more concerned about how he will live without Football Manager....

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 08:29

Don't worry lurker, I am happy to share my palpitations around! I do a very stressful job but I swear most of my stress in life comes from the combined force of DH and DS1!! Grin

fishonabicycle · 03/06/2019 08:32

F has paper 2 of sociology tomorrow (hope its better than paper 1!) and media studies on Wednesday.

MrKlaw · 03/06/2019 09:42

Couple of big weeks coming up for my son - this week and next week both 5 exams. Then one more week with two to finish off. Only had one exam before half term which went well so hopefully he’ll keep his confidence up. Retaking further maths as he was a few marks off his target A* last year

He’s revised well so fingers crossed

MrKlaw · 03/06/2019 09:44

Interesting about gaming bans. My DS isn’t playing these days. Used to be a FIFA nut but dropped off this year. Thank god because that game used to drive him nuts

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 11:25

Our FIFA is not internet connected so he should be OK with that one!

My understanding is I have to confiscate his devices.

ifonly4 · 03/06/2019 11:28

Sounds like a big week for many, hope it goes well for all of them. DD only has three exams this week (geography and RE tomorrow), but says she doesn't feel prepared despite spending six hours at the library every day (far more than for her mocks). She takes exams in her stride, but doesn't seem able to think about any other issues at the moment. There's such a lot of pressure on them for results and not knowing which uni they'll take end up at.

Itscoldouthere · 03/06/2019 11:54

I’m pretty sure my DS will be a lifelong gamer.
So I have to say he can’t do it during exam weeks.
He’s fine about it though and knows it’s the right thing to do.

Laniakea · 03/06/2019 12:57

Dd has three this week too - physics about now, chemistry tomorrow & biology on Thursday. She really hates afternoon exams - get’s horrendous IBS which is hard to cope with (she has an emergency drug pack - propanolol, Imodium, mintec & ibuprofen); she’s much better in morning exams. Sigh ... last physics at least.

Shimy · 03/06/2019 13:41

Not understanding these ‘clashes’, do people mean they have two exams timetabled for the same time?

LIZS · 03/06/2019 13:57

Yes dd has Maths & German both scheduled for Wednesday am. As more take Maths she will do that with the cohort and go into isolation for lunch with one other for sitting German later.

justasking111 · 03/06/2019 13:57

How many boards are these days are they causing the clashes DS has physics on Thursday 3 of 4. Friday DT theory. Next week physics 4.

whereshalligo · 03/06/2019 13:58

Yes two exams timetabled for same time.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 14:26

shimy in my DS's case it's a multiple clash. Business and Spanish clash and then he couldn't do Spanish this PM because politics and Spanish would then clash, so Spanish has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning!

Shimy · 03/06/2019 14:27

😲 Didn’t think this was even possible.Liz your poor DD. Why can’t the exam boards fix this? That’s ridiculous, how unsettling that must be for the poor students. I know Ds2 who has a lot of anxiety would be seriously unsettled by that arrangement.

Shimy · 03/06/2019 14:29

I had thought posters meant two exams in one day and were being a bit dramatic😳.

LIZS · 03/06/2019 14:33

She has another one in 2 weeks' time - language clash with biology. MFL seems a frequent casualty as fewer sit them I suppose.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 14:36

Mine is not only not allowed out at lunchtime: he has to be escorted home by me today and then escorted to school by me tomorrow. He is not allowed any contact with other students at all!

Mustbetimeforachange · 03/06/2019 14:45

Didn't they used to send them home to stay with the teacher over night if there was a clash? I can't imagine that. It's so hard to police these days with social media & so many devices being internet connected. Presumably unscrupulous parents wouldn't enforce it anyway, and many might not even know what devices they have (for example my DS has 2 old phones which while knackered they would still work on the internet).

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2019 14:49

They did but I think Child Protection took precedence. The paperwork involved in students staying overnight at a teacher's house would be immense!!
