New thread, I hope it's okay to start one.

Good luck today for those still waiting for interview news, which includes us.

Congratulations to those already with dates.

Good luck everyone. Congrats to those who know.

SpiralArchitect · 09/01/2019 11:59

Congratulations to all those with good news!

DD has just texted to tell me she's been rejected for English. She's going to be accepting her unconditional offer from her second choice.

Couchpotato3 · 09/01/2019 11:59

DS has an offer for Classics and Oriental Studies, Worcester College.
So relieved and happy!

DS has an offer for Maths at his chosen college, he texted me from school.
The post just arrived with a smallish envelope for him, so I can almost start to believe it.

HingleMcCringleberry · 09/01/2019 12:11

That’s great Couchpotato3! Worcester is a lovely college, and right next to the classics library, so that’s a win too!

Couchpotato3 · 09/01/2019 12:26

Thanks!

Congratulations / commiserations to all the other exhausted parents. And now on with the show!

Well done to all those with offers and really sorry to those without. We are still waiting as ds applied to Cambridge. Whatever happens for them all, I am sure they will all do great.

Mumsnut · 09/01/2019 12:39

A very small, very thin envelope has arrived from DS's chosen college. I am sitting on my hands, but the size, combined with him not having contacted me, screams bad news.

Congratulations and commiserations, Ladies, and many thanks for this thread, I have been a dedicated and grateful lurker.

Aurea · 09/01/2019 12:42

Thanks for all your good wishes.

My heart goes out to those who weren't so 'lucky' as I'm sure luck has a big part to play.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2019 12:51

Mumsnut it really does depend on the college.

Mine too Aurea. And I'm not sure you're so wide of the mark Justanothermile. Puzzledmum so sorry to hear about your DD too - and all the others without good news.

Lumpy76 · 09/01/2019 13:02

Wasn’t good news here either. Like you @justanothermile I did think DD had a really good chance particularly after she felt the interviews had gone well Hmm (her gut is usually right) DD has taken it pretty well - pressure is off for getting the grades (despite her prediction of 4 A*s) and given that she’s most likely has ASD living away from home would have put a very big strain on her...now she’ll most likely accept a London offer and stay living at home. Well done to those with offers!

Jano69 · 09/01/2019 13:09

Oh my goodness, a real bag of mixed results here.

Congratulations to those with offers and commiserations to those without.

Very sorry to hear of your DD's disappointment Lumpy76.....

Justanothermile · 09/01/2019 13:33

I'm sorry to hear about your DD too lumpy, it's gutting for them isn't it?

I really wish Dd had stayed off school as she's just phoned me in bits, I don't think she'd allowed herself to get her hopes up but she's dreadfully disappointed now she's not got a place, I'm going to collect her at 3pm but she's insisting on staying for lessons.

I'm absolutely sure she'll be fine in a few days, and it's better to process than bottle emotion up. She can request feedback I expect anyway.

Don't stranger, I don't want to go there!

Brilliant news for the positive applications though still.

Congratulations and commiserations.

I reckon it's good your DD wanted to stay for her lessons, Justa. Learning how to deal with disappointment is a useful lesson in itself - one which some of these high achieving kids won't have had to face much before.

I just noticed there's a part 3 thread been started but didn't see a link to it from here yet
