New thread, I hope it's okay to start one.

Good luck today for those still waiting for interview news, which includes us.

Congratulations to those already with dates.

Just got a call from DD. Offer! Not the college she applied to but not the PPH either. She sounded a bit disappointed but hopefully that will wear off. Good luck to everyone else!

Puzzledmum · 09/01/2019 09:26

Getting - what great news! Congratulations! Still waiting here! On TSR it seems many of the colleges have sent emails already. I am starting to get really anxious. My DD decided to stay and wait at home, but did not want us there, so I am at work (not being very productive, as you can imagine) waiting now VERY impatiently!!!

Hubbleisback · 09/01/2019 09:29

Congrats PantTwizzler DD. That will wear off!! Go celebrate!
Also to getting DC!

PantTwizzler · 09/01/2019 09:32

Dd got email from the college she applied to (which was Merton) at about 9 I presume.

Puzzledmum · 09/01/2019 09:35

Congrats PantTwizzler! Great news!

Gettingthroughtheweek · 09/01/2019 09:36

Thanks for congrats - although absolutely nothing to do with me apart from going as nag carrier to an open day - congrats to others too and fingers crossed for those still waiting to hear .

HingleMcCringleberry · 09/01/2019 09:41

Nice work PantTwizzler DD - am I right in thinking this was for Classics?

Jano69 · 09/01/2019 09:43

Congratulations Pant and Getting - Merton was ds's favourite and we loved St John's too!

Waiting for Caius email on Monday.

PantTwizzler · 09/01/2019 09:46

Thanks all. Yes Classics but not Merton — she had an interview somewhere else which is where she got the offer from.

LittleSpace · 09/01/2019 09:50

Just wishing everyone good luck.

ds is pretty sure he will be going to Warwick or his reserve and is very pleased. Also glad he gave everything a try.

Aurea · 09/01/2019 10:24

DS has a Conditional Law offer from Triniity. AAB Advanced Highers.

Scottish state school applicant so it can happen for anyone.

So happy!!!!!!!

Justanothermile · 09/01/2019 10:29

Fabulous news for pant, aurea and getting, really well done to your DC.

DD didn't get good news but she seems fine, she's at school so it's hard to tell but the texts seem pretty philosophical. She'll be happy wherever she goes I'm sure.

Really well done again guys.

That is tough justanothemile. How are you doing?

Hubbleisback · 09/01/2019 10:35

Well done Aurea DS! Sorry to hear that *Just another^. Get the impression she is a well adjusted young lady. I am sure she will thrive!

Jano69 · 09/01/2019 10:37

Congrats Aurora - you must be super proud.

Jano69 · 09/01/2019 10:39

Justanothermile sorry good news didn't arrive this morning. It's such a tough process.

cinnamontoast · 09/01/2019 10:40

Congrats, Gettingthrough! I have been an anxious lurker on this thread but am very excited to say that my DD has also had an offer from St John's. An email from the college at about 8.30 this morning. She has worked so hard - as I'm sure all the other DCs have - that I'm delighted to see that paying off.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2019 10:50

Very many congrats to the offerees and a shout out to Aurea DS - that long trip down (which I know well!) was well worth it.

But very sorry indeed to hear about your DD Justanothermile - really tough and genuinely surprising from all you've said. Very best wishes to you both.

questioner123 · 09/01/2019 10:54

DD didn’t get in. She’s sad but we’re trying to stay as positive as possible.

HingleMcCringleberry · 09/01/2019 11:01

questioner123 - any thoughts about reapplying next year? Or, once the dust has settled, do you think she’ll be very happy with her 2nd choice?

Justanothermile · 09/01/2019 11:03

Thanks guys, I haven't managed to speak with her, but I know she'd been group chatting with other interviewees and they were all pretty realistic. She said two others who, in her opinion, were excellent candidates didn't get in too.

I thought she had a good shot too stranger, I genuinely did, even as her mother, but I'm sure she'll reflect and be happy wherever she goes.

Must be because we are state school 😜

It was not meant to be for DD either. If I have to be honest, I am a bit relieved. She is disappointed, but hopefully will get over it. Her second choice is excellent (the course is definitely better) and I firmly believe everything happens for a reason. Congrats to all with offers!

Hubbleisback · 09/01/2019 11:17

Just so Puzzledmum. There are many upsides to not being at Oxford. Flowers

Hubbleisback · 09/01/2019 11:19

Your DD will be sad for a while questioner but that will pass. Flowers
