Dear all,

I have really enjoyed these threads. So if anyone else wants to keep up posts on DC travelling through trials and tribulations of uni life - do post here.
Smile

Have your DC been revising at all for instance? Do you now stand back?

That's great news Pug.

Marianne my dd is in China too, enjoying the rainy season Confused Grin

PUGaLUGS · 05/07/2016 17:45

How spooky that there are two DD's in China.

bigblue working in the bar is better than doing nothing, unlike DS... At least he knows what it is like to be working with other people, unlike DS. We have told him he really needs to be doing something.

bigbluebus · 05/07/2016 19:24

PUG good news about the 1st.
DS only got the job because we know the bar manager and he had said if DS wants to work some hours to let him know. DH didn't let it go until DS had rung the manager, otherwise nothing would have happened. He was supposed to look for a more full time job for the summer when he was home at Easter but as things have worked out with the exams it is probably as well he isn't working loads of hours, so he's got time to study.

Can't imagine my DS ever getting anywhere like China - it takes him all his time to get out of bed and go to the local town when he needs something Hmm

seimum · 05/07/2016 19:34

Well done Pug's DS!
Still waiting for results here. Apparently they are due tomorrow.

hellsbells99 · 05/07/2016 23:13

Well done Pug's DS!

PUGaLUGS · 06/07/2016 06:14

Well they have sorted the tv licence and broadband for the house, get the important bits out of the way eh! Hmm. One of them has taken charge of the direct debit for the broadband and the other 7 have set up direct debits to pay the housemate every month.

bigblue yep DS isn't really a "doer" very much a procrastinator. Although he was happy to take my car into town whilst he has been home and go look for PS4 games for his new console. To be fair though I did use him a lot as a taxi driver for DS2 whilst he had been at home and he dropped/picked up DH and I when we went into town for drinks.

Noitsnotteatimeyet · 06/07/2016 07:42

Hello! Ds has been back for three and a bit weeks now and is driving me up the wall Confused

On the plus side he passed all his exams - didn't exactly get stellar grades but the important thing is he passed and takes 120 credits through to next year. He says he realises he'll need to work rather harder next year though as his grades will count towards his final mark. However we have heard this before... Hmm

He's also decided to do something about his anxiety/OCD and has been to see the GP (although hasn't quite got round to calling the number she gave him for CBT...)

On the downside he's been being a complete arse... He's completely messed up applying for the summer job which he's done for the last three years because he couldn't be bothered to go down and sort out shifts ... Went down to 'sort it out' on Monday and hey ho what a surprise there's no shifts now until the end of August - who could possibly have foreseen that?? HmmHmmHmm

And breathe ....

seimum · 06/07/2016 22:23

DS results came today at last. He has done OK (2.1).
I'm not sure if these marks count towards his final degree, but he needed a good grade to stay eligible for the year in industry he wants to do in his 3rd year.
Though given the nagging required to make him keep looking for a job for this summer, I'm not that convinced that he will find one next year.

Horsemad · 06/07/2016 22:32

Well done to your DS seimum! Smile

seimum · 06/07/2016 22:50

Thanks Horsemad

PUGaLUGS · 06/07/2016 22:50

Congrats to DS seimum.

Well done though Noitsnot to your DS for making the first step in seeing the gp.

How are you Horsemad?

Horsemad · 06/07/2016 23:13

Ok thanks Pugs DS1 is away this week, so my blood pressure is lower than usual! Wink

Quietlygoingmad67 · 08/07/2016 19:42

Results in! She had 6 exams and has passed them all. Hasn't been given an overall grade but 4 were equivalent to a 'first' pass, 1 was very close and the last one was a lot lower. She feels more confident to carry on with her course and hopefully realises that she needs to be more proactive and ask for help. Think she has had a shock because this is the first time in her education that she has struggled along with adjusting to living away from home.

Horsemad · 08/07/2016 19:50

Yeaay well done Quietly's DD, bet you are pleased! Smile

Quietlygoingmad67 · 08/07/2016 19:53

Thanks Horsemad yes Im pleased and proud of her.
Now to sort out the social anxieties issues! Shock

Horsemad · 08/07/2016 22:15

Baby steps Quietly Wink She will get there.

LittleHoHum · 11/07/2016 22:11

Has everyone had exam results now?

No news yet about eldest dd. Is that normal? Feeling worried.

Decorhate · 12/07/2016 17:01

I think it's very variable. Dd got hers quickly probably because she only had two multiple choice type papers at year end which would have been quick to mark. But then last week a letter arrived from her uni about an earlier module... supposedly Dd got the date wrong for an online exam so technically is doing resits even though she was able to take the exam a day or two later and passed it. So she doesn't actually have to do resits. I'm extremely Hmm

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2016 20:03

No exam results here and not sure exactly when they're due. DS3 has gone to ground with friends in Budapest.... Intelligence Hocus?

HocusLotus · 13/07/2016 11:36

DS vaguely remembers being told they would be out around the 18th but doesn't think there is a definite date. Apparently he will be sent an email telling him they are available to view on the system - nothing here yet & he seems unconcerned. But then his normal M.O. tends to be unconcerned....

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2016 12:51

Thanks Hocus! Since I only know he even arrived in Budapest through another source I wasn't hopeful of being notified of a pass. Glad to know there's nothing I should know which I don't :)

HocusLotus · 13/07/2016 13:08

We are both in the dark if that helps. Ds thinks they should all be notified at the same time so I'll let you know when Ds gets his email (or more likely texted or similar by a more on the ball friend that the results are out ) and then you will know when there is something you don't know Smile & can get Interpol on the case to track him down.

LittleHoHum · 13/07/2016 13:44

No post today and the results are supposed to be 'in the post'.

Glad to hear that other students are still waiting.

dd1 is talking about a bad module. Can they get thrown out of university for one bad module? More importantly can they pass the next year if one module has gone wrong?

I suppose I should thank my lucky stars that my other three travel a less bumpy road but it is all very worrying.

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2016 14:03

Thanks very much Hocus. My bar is set quite low in that all I really mind about is him being able to go back next year but if I know the results are out and still no word from Hungary after a couple of days then I'll position myself to worry.

HocusLotus · 14/07/2016 16:19

Goodbye Ds results available.
