Results Day and UCAS

MotherOfGirls · 06/08/2013 12:03

Eldest DD is expecting A level results on 15th so this is my first experience of UCAS. She seems to think her results will go to UCAS before they are emailed to her by her school, and so she will find out if she has made her offer by checking her UCAS account. She also thinks this happens at midnight. Can anyone confirm any of this, please?

UCAS are now saying on Facebook there has been an attack on the system and they wont open before 8 a.m tomorrow so no hope of finding out early what the position is.

creamteas · 14/08/2013 22:10

already We have emails timed to go out at 7.30am to our successful applicants, and many other universities will do this as well.

MissMarplesBloomers · 14/08/2013 22:46

arrgh so we should watch from really early then?!

What do those of you in the know make of this then?

Could it be a hoax?

The message to the student I mean not the thread!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/08/2013 23:02

Gues which email address DS1 has given UCAS? Yes, his school one - which h can no longer access - because he has left and all Year 13 email accounts are gone.

Twonk.

MissMarplesBloomers · 14/08/2013 23:07

Oh no LetsFace Sad

Twonk indeed- bless him.

On the school doorstep first thing then eh? Grin

MissMarplesBloomers · 14/08/2013 23:09

Sorry, I shouldn't laugh ...bu that's JUST the sort of thing my DD would do.

All those brains & not much common sense......'tis a worry.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/08/2013 23:13

And he's the organised one of my 3 DSs Hmm
Well if all else fails, he plans to start his own cake making business and tbh his cake is superb Smile

Night night.
Good luck.

creamteas · 14/08/2013 23:14

Most unis sent up mass emailing to go to students on results day. It is possible that someone did this wrong and forgot to delay it.

Admissions is pretty full on this week (and we have been working on it since last Sunday) and some of us are tired and frazzled already Wink

MissMarplesBloomers · 14/08/2013 23:31

I'm sure you are creamteas its a helluva week for you all!!

Thanks for the advice.

Night LetsFace & others.

Might see some of you back here in the wee small hours if we can't sleep

Another one here hoping for Birmingham. Can I clarify from a previous post that you can contact a university to see if they would offer you a place before you give up your insurance offer? I had assumed that you could only see available clearing places once you had given up your insurance place. Getting nervous now...

ijustwanttobeme · 15/08/2013 00:08

DD hoping for ABB for her course at Birmingham.

She has decided to opt for a year out if she doesn't get in, rather than go to her insurance choice.

Hopefully, it won't come to that ( fingers crossed emoticon)

good luck everyone

MotherOfGirls · 15/08/2013 07:20

DD has her grades (emailed from school) and knows she has enough for her insurance offer, which she is really happy with :) Didn't make the ABB for Birmingham but now waiting for UCAS just in case .......

ISingSoprano · 15/08/2013 07:40

Lovely hearit good news. Ds is still asleep!

MissMarplesBloomers · 15/08/2013 07:53

Mother terll her not to accept her insurance yet, Birmingham may comeback with a lower offer if that's her preferred choice!

EEEEEEEKKK !!!! Just had a text

DD HAS GOT INTO WARWICK!!!!!!!!!!

MissMarplesBloomers · 15/08/2013 07:54

Maybe they'll bump into each other!

FannyMcNally · 15/08/2013 07:59

Same here mother, unsuccessful Birmingham and course not on clearing. Very sad for dd2

FannyMcNally · 15/08/2013 08:00

Hang on, did you say she got in? Well done! I thought you said she was unsuccessful!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 15/08/2013 08:03

DS is going to Southampton - his first choice!

Beyond thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fanny have you got a plan? Can we help if not?

minsmum · 15/08/2013 08:09

DD has got UEA ,her first choice, lots of excitement and screaming. Now she has gone to school to meet her mates and get her grades. God the relief.

MotherOfGirls · 15/08/2013 08:17

Yes, Fanny. Didn't quite make the grades but has a place. Does your DD2 have a plan? Sending big hugs.

OP posts:
FannyMcNally · 15/08/2013 08:17

Well done everyone!

We have a sort of plan but it depends on actual grades. She will only take her insurance if she's got a C. If not we are trying UEA and Coventry.

FannyMcNally · 15/08/2013 08:20

So mother have Birmingham offered a place without an A? Amazing if so! I'm wondering if dd2 should phone up and plead? Especially as the course might be filled with insurances who subsequently turn it down. What do people think?
