Results Day and UCAS

MotherOfGirls · 06/08/2013 12:03

Eldest DD is expecting A level results on 15th so this is my first experience of UCAS. She seems to think her results will go to UCAS before they are emailed to her by her school, and so she will find out if she has made her offer by checking her UCAS account. She also thinks this happens at midnight. Can anyone confirm any of this, please?

DS goes on7th Sept for the start of Freshers, then Induction from 11th Sept.

Haven't seen him for 5 weeks as we're just back from California today and he went to Spain before then.

So I only have about 10 days to nag help him to get all his stuff together.

MABS that is very early. Get your DD to phone the university and explain your situation. They might be able to change it. DD3's registration is on the Sunday and she seems to have a welcome talk after it. They are actually starting lectures on the Monday although that depends on what group she's in as one group has Monday's off. All the freshers events in the first week are in the evening. There is a 2 day Freshers Fayre in the second week. Well that's a long answer to your questionGrin

My DS starts on Monday 17th and the induction is on Friday 13th at 9am, however the halls aren't available until the 13th so not at all sure what we are going to do, we will have to go down the night before but can't see the halls being open at the crack of dawn to get his stuff in before then, I can see me hanging round in the car park all morning while he goes to the induction! He has e mailed to ask if they can go in the day before but not heard yet!

How far have you got to go MABS? We have about a 4 hour drive. Saturday and Sunday are the moving in days. Don't think the administration teams have talked to the accomadation teams. Grin

Don't know if I should be worrying or not but DD has not had a welcome pack and they say on the website that accommodation emails ,will be sent out week commencing 27/8. She is not worried at all by the way. I just still can't believe she got her first choice and am a natural worrier.

minsmum, DS also has not had a welcome pack. I keep looking at his offer where it says 'you don't need to do anything we will contact you.'

But I am still itching to Sort. Something. Out.

Like your dd he is not worried at all and said according to the student room forums, different departments send out stuff at different times. (His is Philosophy, so maybe they're all just a bit more laid back.)

Merrylegs thank you its such a relief that someone else is in the same boat, though I wish you weren't.

All her friends had welcome packs and accommodation offers with days of the results. I can calm down now I know she isn't the only one.

At least your DS is going on student rooms forums trying to find out she is just working and making a list of everything she wants to take with her

My DS hasn't had his welcome pack either. He tells me they are being sent on 1 September. So not long for him to wait! He has though got his accommodation sorted, his room bond paid but doesn't have a room number yet.

I missed this thread as we were away when the results came out
The school website didn't work and despite a handwritten letter of consent for DS's friend, DS was unable to find out his results
eventually we got them over the phone after badgering the school to sort out the website

DS didn't get any of his choices, his results were worse than expected and he was gutted
He wanted to go to Exeter to do Arabic

He went through clearing but all the universities he had considered turned him down Sad
However he found a course at Uni of Central Lancashire and then got an offer from his second choice for a different course which he rejected.

So he's off to Lancashire in about 2 weeks. Grin
congrats to all your DC's for their results and places

We know nothing about Lancashire Uni!

Well good luck to him - Lancashire's a great place and there's
always this ... bit.ly/15qPPaW
