So, here we are on the 63rd(?) thread...

Much intellectual discourse has been held...The big bang theory rewritten...thermodynamics hotly debated, the Election mused upon....

Alongside which, we coax, encourage, arse kick, tease, boost and cajole our way into a healthier lifestyle, with whatever 'diet' or exercise regime suits, and drinking more WATER (are we drinking our water ladies? )..

Please pay homage to our mascot as you enter the thread.

Anyway, where were we? The life and works of Aristotle I believe.....and over to you Total...

Yank's rebooked flight has also been cancelled so she's still in Amsterdam but will be catching a ferry to Newcastle Tuesday evening - I sent her a recomendation from someone on one of the many many volcano ash threads who said it was a v civilised little-known ferry route.

Yes, date sounds good bella.

Fleecy · 17/04/2010 20:09

Hello. What a gorgeous day - here's hoping for more sunshine tomorrow...

bella you sound very glamorous with your beautiful shoes and freshly painted nails.

Sorry for the holiday woes trills

I have lost another pound this week so I'm happy. Went up a level from 'pathetic' to 'slightly less wimpy' weights at circuit training yesterday. Went to body jam today and it was 1.5hr class for charity so lots of good exercise for me!

TotalChaos · 17/04/2010 20:15

well done on the weight loss and exercise Fleecy.

glad to hear that Yank is sorted for the return.

Good to hear Yank is sorted, it is a lovely ferry route, my mates all go on that one for a piss up She could wave at me as she goes past my town

If i can figure out how to bluetooth on this computer, i will stick a pic up of junior's room, as i am ridiculously proud of it I still have the pic of her in her lovely spotty dress waiting to go on....

Slugbrains · 17/04/2010 20:28

Thanks twinset.

In an odd place. live has developed an interesting twist. need to finish the marking for return. if about elsewhere mighe expand but not feeling the need to share too much here atm.

half of me wants to borrow mitts space hoper, the other half wants to sit in the corner. most weird really.

VinegarTits · 17/04/2010 20:37

SAF i am on shineys FB friends list, i am vinegertits johnson, add me and we will work out a way to get the pram to you

wastingaway · 17/04/2010 20:41

Evening.

Ah Slug, the place of greatest possibility.

Dad's supposed to be on a plane to Egypt for work on Tuesday, fingers crossed it's all clear soooon. He doesn't get paid til he's on his way.
Though he says that the ash won't clear while the weather stays nice like this

Productive and or/relaxing days all round by the sounds of it, good good.

My curtains are up and look nice and grown-up and fit the window so people can't see in when they're shut. Hurrah!

I'm drinking Pepsi Max and going to do some knitting in a bit. I truly live life to the max.

Fleecy · 17/04/2010 20:48

twinset - does it take practice to get the hang of the rolling or is it fairly straightforward?

We don't have curtains in our living room. If we did, I would do my Wii personal trainer more but I'm too to do it after dark

Lizzylou · 17/04/2010 20:49

Wasting, you go steady now!
Actually, I have always envied people who can knit, I am useless. My Nan lost patience with me whilst she was trying to teach me It is supposed to be good for relaxing ans stopping you eating.

Fleecy, blimey! Well done on all that exercise and also weight loss.

Trills, well done for rescuing Yank.

Jet, no I didn't in the end, I talked to the turtle and watched the BBC Football Videprinter for the footie scores (I was scratching my balls though, honest I have 3 brothers and 2 sons, no wonder I am a bit of a tomboy!). Can't wait to see pics of your decorating, well done you.

Lots of kicking off threads on MN, got bored of them, hence the footie.

wastingaway · 17/04/2010 21:01

Lizzy, I've only been knitting for three years. I'd tried a couple times before, but I just got inspired about craft in general and decided to give it a go. It's still pretty basic stuff I do, nothing with more than one colour, or really complex stitch patterns, but I'm learning more every time I do a new pattern.

Fleecy, that's what's been putting me off doing any Wii Fit or exercise dvds.
No excuse now!

Slugbrains · 17/04/2010 21:08

Wasting, i started with a stripy scarf and then played about putting different coloured patterns into it. Tis quite a good way to learn.

Slugbrains · 17/04/2010 21:09

some people do squares of different patterns and then stitch together to get a throw.

wastingaway · 17/04/2010 21:30

I think I've got some books of stitch patterns. That would be a pleasant way to make a throw actually.
The 'Stitch n Bitch' books are very good at explaining techniques and have helped me loads so I'm going to have that to hand when I try doing a picture/colour knit.

wastwinsetandpearls · 17/04/2010 21:31

Fleecy it was quite straight forward, we put too much in the first one but the others were ok.

You need a 2cm gap at the top.

We also did some with just the rice in a torpedo shape, a tiny dap of wasabi and a prawn on top. Also got this from the magazine

TotalChaos · 17/04/2010 21:32

I'm more of a crochet gal - quicker and easier to coordinate one hook than two needles! if you get fed up of scarves, then shawls are pretty forgiving in terms of sizing/shaping etc, you just do a veeeery big triangle...

VinegarTits · 17/04/2010 21:37

ive just eaten a tub of houmous

i feel guilty now, but it was delicious, good job i have nobody to kiss tonight

Slugbrains · 17/04/2010 21:53

Fleecy · 17/04/2010 21:53

Might give it a whirl then. Sounds very impressive and always on the lookout for healthy things the kids might eat

VinegarTits · 17/04/2010 22:00
