So, here we are on the 63rd(?) thread...

Much intellectual discourse has been held...The big bang theory rewritten...thermodynamics hotly debated, the Election mused upon....

Alongside which, we coax, encourage, arse kick, tease, boost and cajole our way into a healthier lifestyle, with whatever 'diet' or exercise regime suits, and drinking more WATER (are we drinking our water ladies? )..

Please pay homage to our mascot as you enter the thread.

Anyway, where were we? The life and works of Aristotle I believe.....and over to you Total...

Hello

Have been out, had a lovely lunch (did some talking) and then called to the pub where I used to work for a drink!

I had fresh tuna on a bed of rocket, red onion, canellini beans, olives and capers with a lemon dressing. It was just divine.

I started my conversation with DH in the car on the way into town. He says I only have to ask for him to put his laptop down (normally falls on deaf ears) but he has agreed that he will try and limit how much time he is on there especially as I have said that the boys make comments like "dad on his laptop again". He has agreed that we all need to go out more as a family and we have said that we will go into the Dales on a weekend - we all enjoyed our time in Hawes last week. We both agreed that we have as a couple lost our way quite a lot and he readily said that we need to go out together without the boys (so I am going to arrange for a sitter). He said to me that I am nasty and snappy quite a bit of the time and I said perhaps it was because it riled me that he was always on the laptop. So, progress has been made and I think this will be ongoing as in each time we go out we will get the chance to talk.

I have campaigned for TWC BoF.

Slugs - hope you are ok.

Trills, fingers crossed that you get your flight on Monday.

Slugbrains · 16/04/2010 14:42

Cooker made it all by itself. and the icing jumping inside and on top all by itself.

It would be a shame to waste that effort. Its going to have to be eaten

Glad you are wippy dh into line. Hope you enjoy your computer and child free time.

Slugbrains · 16/04/2010 14:43

wippy ??? *whipping

hellsbelles · 16/04/2010 15:49

it had to be done slug

Bella - that sounds like a constructive conversation and it'll be good for you two to get out together as a couple. DH and I have been trying to go out more alone and at first I hate to admit it, it seemed such a pain to organise babysitters blah blah blah....but it's working.

I think the trick will be for you to book it all now otherwise (if you are like me) you'll keep forgetting.

wastingaway · 16/04/2010 16:13

Afternoon. It's turned into a glorious day here. DS is having his first nap all week in the buggy outside, so peace and quiet for a few minutes.

We've had a lovely day. DS walked into town, then we had lunch (Wimpy ) and he played in the free soft play area, then we walked up towards the park and Museum and Art Gallery.

Interesting exhibition of linoprints at the Art Gallery and we surveyed the devestation where lots of old buildings have been razed to the ground. I did actually have a tear for the old Odeon.

We've also collected my new curtains and shall be putting them up later or tomorrow.
Possibly my most grown-up purchase ever?

I'll be able to do exercise DVDs without worrying that people can see what I'm doing through the flimsy excuse for curtains we have now.

Bella, that sounds very positive.

Slugs, you were only doing your duty.

bellavita · 16/04/2010 16:24

Slugs - can you make something else? I don't like coffee cake - victoria sponge with jam and fresh cream is more my thing!

Wasting, tis nice when they nap in the buggies outside. I used to love shoving mine in the garden. Yay for new curtains.

Hells, yes, I am going to speak to my friend who about 6 months ago offered me the services of her daughter (who is 16 this month)! Tis a teensy bit difficult who we have, because DS1 will be 13 in June and DS2 is going on for 11. So we don't need a babysitter as such, but someone who doesn't mind playing on the wii with them or playing cards with DS2.. 'cos I reckon DS1 will keep himself to himself in his bedroom - if it was just him, I would have no problem going out for a couple of hours in the evening and leaving him. I leave him on his own during the day when I go to work if he has a training day from school.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 16:39

Coffee cake..... yum yum.... gi'us a slice slug...

Bella (( )) I really hope it starts to sort things for you... x

I think I am Sampson inverted... I regain my strength when I have my hair cut... It is short and sassy again, just the way I like it.

I did the Bacon sarnie thing, but I blame VT, she made me think of it. I would have had celery and watercress if she hadn't mentioned Bacon ;p

I have walked about 5 miles briskly.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 16:48

That is lovely Vinny thank you , but I came down from just over 14 st so I am afraid I need to monitor what I eat. And you are NOT a heffer, you are lovely. You might not be the weight that you want to be but it doesn't detract from how delicious you are.... so there xx

Smile
bellavita · 16/04/2010 16:56

Mitts - you were sassy before the haircut!

Vin, when I got my new scales they were dud, had to take them back and get another pair. Tis very annoying.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 17:09

Or WHO Bella!

OP posts:
bellavita · 16/04/2010 17:13

Mitts!!

Slugbrains · 16/04/2010 17:25

Bella - Apricot teacakes and cranberry teacakes are tomorrow. But they will be healthier and not have so much icing.

Was a bit generous with the coffee. Best remember not to eat too much after tea.

I am going out tonight. I just have to bribe my babysitter.

Ds is filthy. he has been climbing trees and playing out. So i have chucked him into the bath before tea.

bellavita · 16/04/2010 17:26

That's more like it Slug! I bet they will be yummy.

Enjoy your night out.

VinegarTits · 16/04/2010 17:30

I am writing a 'to do' list for the weekend, if you see me on here, ask me how many of the things i have done, if = none then shout at me, and tell me to get to work ok?

  • Clean leaves and rubbish from front garden
  • tidy back garden
  • clear clutter from back porch
  • tidy airing cupboard
  • wash car
  • sort clothes in bedroom
  • clean out kitchen cupboards and draws

( i dont expect to get it all done but will try)

Slugbrains · 16/04/2010 17:35

I will if you will vinny.
My list.
50 odd books to mark
90 pieces of course work
resources to find
paperwork to file
Find keys and fob for return.

Ds will be baking with dsis. I have a break from Mmmmmmuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeee this weekend. It will be fab.

TrillianAstra · 16/04/2010 17:37

Mmm-hm, I agree with Mitts.

VinegarTits · 16/04/2010 18:02

obviously tonight doesnt count

i am having a gin and sl tonic, and i have put crispy duck in the oven for tea, having a night off from the diet, i have lost weight i can see it when i look in the mirror so think i deserve a little treat

traceybath · 16/04/2010 18:09

Afternoon.

Bella - DH and I had a very similar conversation a couple of weeks ago and we're off out for dinner tomorrow night. I do think its best to clear the air though - I'm not good at festering.

Well I had a very good start to the day and bought a dress on the outnet sale site for £1 - it should have been £585 so bargaintastic. Was slightly stressful as site kept crashing but I persevered and was lucky.

Been to a friends for a play with the dc's this pm and was lovely - dc's played in the garden and friend and I had a nice chat.

Squid for dinner - yum!

Trills - is your flight still looking ok?

Vinny - I have to have my digital scales in my utility room as only place with flat enough floor for them to work.

Alicetheinvisible · 16/04/2010 18:13

Evening

Sorry been a bit awol, but tbh, feeling a bit of a fraud being on a weightloss thread. Feel a bit mean coming on here talking about food when you are all doing well with your healthy eating and i am about to eat yet another cream cake

traceybath · 16/04/2010 18:19

But Alice you are allowed as you're pregnant - I ate for england in my first two pregnancies - boys!

With dd though I just wasn't as hungry.

When are you due?

jetcat · 16/04/2010 18:21

bella - that sounds positive Enjoy your time together

slug

vinny - i had an experience like that. My very dodgy scales finally gave up the ghost, not before telling me i was 12 st 2, meaning i had lost 2st 8 in a couple of days I'm good but not that good And mitts is right - you are certainly not a heffer like me

tracey - thats some bargain with the dress I did have a look and registered, but i cant seem to get the hang of it

Tis a lovely day here, not just because i am child free for the entire weekend They are at aunts tonight, then their dad is picking them up tom and bringing them home sunday. i still have my essay to write though, as wasnt in study mode last week, but hopefully will get it finished tomorrow so can relax and pack on sunday.

Trills - am keeping my fingers crossed for you for monday

TrillianAstra · 16/04/2010 18:46

Boooooooooored. I said I'd go for a drink after work and as far as I@m concerned it is after work but we're still here!

Slugbrains · 16/04/2010 18:52

Alice i think you wil find i am eating cake. Coffee and very full of icing. one piece and that is enough. It is very sweet and strong. And it was a tall cake. But that is ok as i am going to go out tonight and will burn some calories off. Lots of talking. Maybe a bit of exercise of the suicide variety.

Hang about and chat, surely you know by now that this is more chat then diet. Hang about. would be shame for you to disappear. but understand if you feel you must.
