Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

Ooh, a bay window, how lovely

bellavita · 22/03/2010 21:36

Vinny, if you put into ww, sliced white bread and 2 slices, you will probably find it comes up on its own as 2.5..... without anything on it. Yes, I know it says 1 point per slice, but when you put x2 in it makes it go to 2.5 on the tracker thingy.

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 21:36

She was fab iggi. Had to sell her for the money in the end (bloody DC cost too much money ).

i've just had 1 slice with plain marmite on it, to be on the safe side

Its come up as 1 point

now having a very small glass of milk, counted that as 1 point, so 0.5 left over for tomorrow

Its very tricky gets the points right, its so easy to go over

iggi999 · 22/03/2010 21:42

Self-flagellation. I've tried it, doesn't work.

bellavita · 22/03/2010 21:43

That's good then Vinny. I went back and looked at yesterdays tracker, I put into the search bar - white bread and I put 2 slices and it told me 2.5 even though it is 1 point per slice.

Well done for a good day Vin!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 22/03/2010 21:44

Yank.... I can't sleep, I am worried that I have really offended you with my post earlier... if so I am really very sorry, nothing could have been further from my intention.... you are very lovely and it would upset me if a thoughtless post had done so.
If I did then please accept my apologies... xx

Vinny the trick is to write everything down for the first few weeks, then it starts to come a bit more naturally.

I buy in a load of the zero point foods (sugar snap peas, mangetout, baby sweetcorn, tomatoes, cucumber etc) then when I get hungry I eat a load of those and feel v virtuous and stuffed at the same time.

DreamsInBinary · 22/03/2010 21:54

Evening! I have lost 2.5 lbs

I am practically fainting with hunger, and it's just 2.5 lbs!

Gutted.

On a happier note, the normal WW woman is lovely, and so I think I'll carry on going for a bit.

Alicetheinvisible · 22/03/2010 21:56

Lizzy - was it you who mentioned the spin class? One of my FB friends has posted that they survived their first one. Made me giggle that the ginger skinny bloke i went to school with could have been the bloke that was too wimpy to finish the class

Bed, i think, Night

iggi999 · 22/03/2010 21:58

Hooray for DIB!

bellavita · 22/03/2010 21:58

Vinny - use the point trackers that you get online - really good way of keeping track.

Am not liking the "fat munters" comment one little bit

bellavita · 22/03/2010 22:01

DIB - well done!!

Night Alice.

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 22:02

DIB, well done.

iggi999 · 22/03/2010 22:06

Inspired to go and spend some time with Rosemary.
Alice are you tired a lot? (maybe in bed already). Is LO interfering with your sleep?

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 22:12

Right, I'm off to bed. Got a bloody good book on the go.

Good Night one and all.

bellavita · 22/03/2010 22:13

Night MyCat.

DreamsInBinary · 22/03/2010 22:14

Aww, thanks

Iggi - when DS turned 2, DS had just been born, and I reckon he was given time-outs three times a week. He is a very active boy Having said that, nursery were always at pains to tell me that he was mischievous, rather than unkind. I agree that a chat with the manager would not go amiss.

DreamsInBinary · 22/03/2010 22:15

No, that's not right - DD was born just before DS turned two.

YanknCock · 22/03/2010 22:15

Mitts..... I am very ...you didn't think I was serious when I said I was highly offended?????

Oh dear. I forgot the

My name originated as a pub quiz team name after DH was explaining how people like to choose names that look innocuous but are quite rude when read outloud, e.g. Norfolk & Chance, Norfolk & Clue.

I love it because it is smutty, yet has a perfectly reasonable and un-smutty explanation, and I can feign innocence as to why some might find it offensive.

I really really hope you are teasing me back and you haven't been worried all this time!

Goober · 22/03/2010 22:19

I'm baaaaack.

Have just attended a proper harsh cardio aerobics followed by BLT.

Well done DIB. When I get that shaky hunger thing going on I have a Light Horlicks, helps bring the sugar levels back up.

Have lost another lb too, that's 18lbs now.

Have you all had a good day?

YanknCock · 22/03/2010 22:27

Iggi, I sort of wonder if it has to do with DP being a man and talking about his son--would they describe the same behaviour differently if it were a girl behaving that way? Or if they were talking to the mother? Am devising gender bias experiments in my head at the moment, would be a really good subject for a psychology student (which I was, once upon a time).

'tinker'--I am sure my aunt and uncle had a dog called Tinker (a beautiful Irish Setter). I think in the U.S. it is used interchangeably with 'peddler'...doesn't get used much but is just old-fashioned rather than having negative connotations

Vin, 1 slice of toast and a heavier dose of the philly. Fat/protein keep you satisfied longer.

DIB, well done! Don't worry, you will get used to it and find the things that keep you full for longer.

Yay Goober!

iggi999 · 22/03/2010 22:27

Good for you! Have a breather.
Have not done exercise dvd as promised, as can't find remote for bloody dvd player. Obviously victim of a conspiracy to keep me fat.
