Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

Let's not encourage Shiney to behave this way on a first date. Tis really not the done thing, you know. I'm assuming our leader is looking for relationship, not a one-nighter.

DreamsInBinary · 22/03/2010 13:02

Wlcome Tigga

VT - another convert to WW! My weigh-in is at a meeting this evening, and I hoped to have lost a stone good amount.

Yank - have you been to the docs for MiniYank yet?

Shiney - wear the spanx. They don't leave a tell-tale dent in your legs, and are superb control. But YOU MUST remember to 'go freshen up' and whip them off the moment things get fun. Just because they can be easy-access does not mean they should

Afternoon All.

Vinny - yeay to new car - I'd love a mini but with 3dc's had to get an s-max which I do love.

Went to wedding evening thingy on saturday night which was fab. Lots of comments on how slim I looked which was very gratifying . And I did the whole 'oh you know its just running round after 3 dc's thing' when we all know its down to me not eating as much as I want.

But my mother's boyfriend is just so inappropriate - he spent the whole time commenting on my boobs - even me pointing out it was milk and breast pads didn't deter him. He was drunk but is very dirty old man'ish which I find rather annoying . . .

I drank a few glasses of wine though and felt very delicate yesterday - just have no alchold tolerance any more.

Ooh Shiney - where in Bristol are you going out? There is no way I'd do a spa on a date - how stressful would that be.

Lizzy - well done on your weight loss - have you got much left to go now?

Sazzles - not on facebook but imagined you look fab - can't beat a nice pair of skinny white jeans

Trills - yeay for getting the dress.

Hells - hope you're feeling better.

Yank - hope DS is better today too.

Have just cleared 4 bin bags of crap out of the play room - broken toys be gone.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 22/03/2010 13:03

Loving the diet advice Iggi

DreamsInBinary · 22/03/2010 13:04

I wore spanx on my wedding day, Iggi.

I married a one-nighter, too

hellsbelles · 22/03/2010 13:13

good lord - off for half an hour and you've all resorted to spanx and tena!

Shiney - I agree with the general view that spanx on a first date is a bit of a no no. Even if there is a little delicate fumbling he'll still be able to tell as they give a sort of steel like finish to the buttock . I don't think they all have the easy access thing (I have a couple of pairs ) - TBH I can't ever imagine how it would be

Apparently M&S do some good ones which are about a quarter of the price (but still NOT FOR THE FIRST DATE)

I am very excited for you though and thinking of outfits - couldn't you start an S&B thread? I bet they'd have you sorted in no time.

And on the aches - alas it's not the mattress. I spent more than I care to admit on a mattress relatively recently.

In my heart of hearts I don't think it's anything serious. I suspect my prolonged bedrest probably mucked up my body a bit and maybe it's just taking longer to recover than I thought. But it'll be nice to get it confirmed that it's not arthritis or something so I can just get on without worrying.

Mouseman - has been and laid 'safe' poison boxes. Almost too friendly (but not quite 'plumber' friendly ) so I did my most 'business like matter of fact' type behaviour with him. And DD helped by doing a truly smelly poo which must have dampened his ardour slightly.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 22/03/2010 13:14

Somebody talk me out of treating myself, I am poorly miserable..

My eyes and nose are streaming, my head is woozy, I am mainlining lemsip and decongestants and my eyes are puffy and I just feel like having a little treat but it is my Lent thingy not to spend any money.....

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 22/03/2010 13:16

Another vote for spanx here (whatever they are? they sound a bit pervy to me ) anything that holds you all in is good, but whip them off quick if he get randy

I have used 7 points so far for lunch and brekka, so 13 left for dinner, but i have no idea what to have, maybe a jacket spug and some chicken and salad...

hellsbelles · 22/03/2010 13:16

I'm not the right person to help there mitts

Could you treat yourself in some other way?

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:17

Afternoon everyone.

Hope your all well (Yank, hope DS gets better soon, will post off the t-shirts this week btw).

My mother has just tried to sabotage my diet again! She knows I am dieting and is in fact doing the ww diet herself, yet everytime I see her she buys me cake or chocolate. This time I asked her to pick me up some cakes as DS is off his food but will eat cake () and our plumber (old family friend) is here and he works well when plied with cake. SO instead of bringing one cake she brings 10 choc chip muffins, egg waffles (why FGS, we have never ever eaten them) and a foot long swiss roll!

Why does she do this? It's not like I'm too skinny or something!

Anyway, if you can't answer the why, can anyone tell me whether it's OK to freeze the swiss roll? Then I can take it on holiday in June instead.

May I just also say hello to Tigga. I love the way you end your posts, alwaysmakesmesmilexxx

sorry- tigga - meant to say hello - and your DS is totally gorgeous too.

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:18

oh MItts, you should treat yourself now. Starve a fever feed a cold. Go get something nice and comforting to feed yourself with now.

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:21

Shiney, wear the spanx if you want to keep your er... first date virginity in tact... if you're up for a fumble, don't do it. You'll spend about 20 mins trying to get out of them - it'll kill the moment, believe me!

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:24

Vinny hope WW works for you. I'm back on it now and am enjoying the hole point counting malarky (must get a life). I've managed to go well under my points since Saturday as a bit of a boost (as had been well over points for previous 2 weeks). I'm feeling quite virtuous. I'm 13st 2lb now and aim to be 12st 5lb by the time we go to Scotland in a month.

the letter Sazz?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/03/2010 13:31

I saw Yogini had defected, will email her later and berate her.

hellsbelles · 22/03/2010 13:31

cat - I think it's a genetic 'need' to feed up our children. My mum does the same to me. always laden with cakes, biscuits and every other calorie filled thing she can find

Tracey - I'm so glad you wowed them all but to your mum's boyfriend. How difficult!

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:34

hells I think you must be right. I do almost get palpitations when I think the dc aren't eating enough. But one look at me would show that I am definitely eating enough .

Sazz, do you mean DH's letter to work? If yes, then yup, he is handing in his resignation later today

Stop talking everyone, I cannot catch up !!

Hello Dawntigga

Have just had a rather delish roast beef sandwich for lunch in a tiger bap. Had about 10 cherry toms and in my drawer I have a banana and a lovely M&S pear...

Shiney, what about that lovely coast top you got a few months back with some really nice jeans? Is it a long drive to wherever you are going to see him? Don't do the spanx on the first date!

Yay for Vinny with joining ww.

MyCatIsABastard · 22/03/2010 13:39

Well, I did check with my new company that all was well (as it would indeed be a big eek if we were both out of work). He is so pleased to be handing it in, he really has had enough.

ENjoy the gym.

Lizzylou · 22/03/2010 13:45

Tracey, ugh at over-amorous Mom's boyfriend, my ex-stepfather was one of those, hence why is an ex. I bet you looked great, don't make excuses for all the effort you've put in.

I would like to lose another 10lbs, poss 1 stone, more than anything I want to tone up, which is going well with gym etc. Off to spinning tonight.

I another who married my one-nighter

Mycat, my Mom is exactly the same. She even gives my bys chocolate for breakfast when she comes up she was never like that when I was a child!

Mitts, could you do something arty? That would make you happy?

Having a v good day at work thus far, what with that and loose new clothes am v happy today.

bellavita · 22/03/2010 13:55

Oooh, I am wearing my new Urban Decay lipgloss today and I hadn't actually read the box that it came in - it tastes of creme brulee - it really is divine.
