Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

Off to bed with me too, DH has already gone up. Expect DS to wake up and scream as soon as my head hits the pillow, but it can't be helped. Will take him to GP in the morning.

DidEinsteinsMum · 22/03/2010 05:06

chaos - actually it was thread about his behaviour and suspected asd over in sn under a completely different name DEM was about my third incarnation.

Iggy - hope you can get everything sorted out and the fitting goes well. that ou have timeto sew. At mo i just need time to sleep.

Right not more sulking, i have work to do.

Coffee machine on and fresh tea in thermos.
Have a good one. I have a deadline so will/should be mia this week. cartch ya later!

YanknCock · 22/03/2010 07:18

1 lb off. I think I need to average closer to 30 points a day to lose more at a time.

Am getting scared thinking about doing a week in London and two weeks in the U.S. If past experience is anything to go by, I could gain as much as a 1/2 stone back.

I might get out some paper trackers I have left over from when I went to WW meetings and try to use those to limit the damage. Fortunately I don't have the same craving for U.S. food that I used to. The first time I went back after a year here, I had a long list of food I wanted to eat! Gradually over the years that has been reduced to 'Mom, could you please get some Diet Mountain Dew in for me?'

MitsubishiWarrioress · 22/03/2010 07:30

Hey all .

Iggi, the dress is gorgeous, and you do sound quite Bridey 15 days... .

Hiya DEM..... have a good week if you have lots to do.

I am full of cold and my head is pounding. There is no way I could spend the day in bed but my body is crying to.

Lizzylou · 22/03/2010 08:04

HI all

Knackered, went to sleep at 8.15pm, woke with a start as one of the boys shouted at 1am, didn't sleep after that and I ache everywhere.
Either the boy was just having a dream or I dreamt it as when I checked on them both, both were sound asleep!

Best laid plans for a long sleep n all that.....

Iggi, don't stress (though it's perfectly natural to), I was exactly the same as you didn't want to look bridal, ended up with almost the exact same outfit as you (except mine was 2 piece), stressed so much beforehand, not looking forward to big day at all.
It was fab, it will all go to plan, honestly, as DIB says get your bridesmaids/relatives on the case.

Bouillabase sounds gorgeous, DIB.

Hope everyone has good days

hellsbelles · 22/03/2010 08:36

lizzy - with you on the tiredness thing. DS had nightmare at 1ish and DD decided to wake up a 5am. I can't tell whether I'm ill or tired but ache all over.

Iggi - DIB beat me to it. But I too agree bridesmaids should be on full duty list. And you will look amazing. The dress is beautiful.

Yank - sorry DS is still suffering. Did the dr give you an indicator of how long it takes to recover without antibiotics? At what stage are you supposed to go back if he's still suffering?

Bella - poor DS - I bet that tasty supper helped ease his pain!

  • it's horrible having to carry on when you feel rotten - hope it starts to ease.

Right - have to go put the washing on and sort out the house. I'll catch up when DD is asleep.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/03/2010 08:54

Georgeous dress Iggi.

Morning all, we finally moved back into our bedroom last night, no furniture, matress on floor but was lovely except for one panicky sheep who kept losing her lamb, she is still going on now.

Clothes sorting and then off to do some more of my computer course this morning.

bellavita · 22/03/2010 08:56

Morning

Mitts, hope you feel better soon, try and take it easy today eh?

Can you have a little rest this afternoon Lizzy?

I have the sheets from our bed out on the line, it is windy so am hoping they will dry before I go to work at 11.30.

That reminds me hells you mentioning DS1, I need to go and cancel tonights guitar lesson as that is half 5 and the dr's is at 6.

Shiney, train booked for you, I have a confirmation email do you want me to mail it to you? fb or txt me your email address if so. The tickets should arrive within 5 days.

I tried to book my ticket last night, I wanted to go first class as it was only slightly more, I went through all the rigmarole of booking seat etc and it told me that all the reserved seat allocation had been used up (this is what happened with Shiney's booking too). I spoke to an online chat person and said if I book first class without reserving a seat could there be no seats left at all, he said yes. So I pay extra then have to sit in second class

Morning

We had a good night last night, but didn't get to bed til 12.30 and i'm exhausted. I normally go to bed at 9.30! Have got to take DD to her 2yr HV review thingy at 11am, but will have an easy day apart from that.

Iggi - you will look stunning, rather than stressing about losing weight, try just drinking lots of water so you feel healthier, happier, less stressed etc.

Sazzles - will pop over to FB to look at your pics in a minute. Glad you had a great time, sounds fun

DEM - really pleased you got some decent sleep over the weekend.

Vinny - yay! for the car.

YanknCock · 22/03/2010 09:39

bella, how daft is that, re: the train!

Have got DS same day appt at our GP as he is still not happy and am nervous about the ear, would really like it checked again to make sure it is going away. He woke at midnight as predicted, but the slept till 6am. Doc on saturday didn't say how long to expect for recovery but he has been ill since Thursday.

Tesco have been really helpful, have rescheduled my delivery so I can go to doc.

hellsbelles · 22/03/2010 10:07

Oh Yank - I really hope he's turning a corner. that long sleep is quite a good sign isn't it? good luck at the appointment

I've finally booked a specialist appointment about my aching joints (tuesday week). My GP referred me ages ago.

I kept hoping it was linked to breast feeding but I gave that up quite some time ago and I'm still aching every morning so I have got to get it checked out. I've put it off for so long as I really don't want to hear I have something properly wrong.

Who is our classical music lover on this thread? Is it mitts, DIB or Dem (or maybe all three?) Someone linked to this on S&B and I think it's very inspiring (it is 20 mins long though!). Lovely to hear someone explain something so beautifully and passionately. here

I have the mouse man visiting shortly. Oh what fun. But hopefully I've caught it before we get a proper infestation.

Hope DS is on the up now Yank

If anyone wants to order over £75 from Ocado tomorrow or Wednesday you can have my voucher - VOU0697298 gets you 15% off.

Oooh, hot date. Shiney you must not wear only black. That is an order!

Lizzylou · 22/03/2010 10:47

Shiney, I wouldn't wear spanx, ummm, just in case.
What sort of clothes make you feel comfy but glam?

I am on a major kickstart diet now, it is 2 weeks until my birthday, when I will be umm, 37 older than i should be, am sure. Want to not look mumsy and haggard.

Hells, hope you get your aches sorted, and your mice

Mits, sorry, I missed that you were ill

Yank, hope DS is OK, glad he is sleeping well though

Bella, you are super organised!

My business partner is annoying the hefty arse off me today, just sooo not in the mood for his zany ideas.

Damn, never mind.

Are you at risk of not keeping your pants on Shiney?

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 22/03/2010 11:02

I have just joined WW online

This is it, i am officially dieting!

TrillianAstra · 22/03/2010 11:06

Fainting from hunger already? Oh dear Vinny!

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 22/03/2010 11:09

fainting from the cost to register (£39) mind you i did get £20 cash back from topcashback, so in theory its only cost me £19 for 3 months
