Please get yourself down there

I know it isn't the most enjoyable or exciting 10 minutes of your life, but hey, once you do it then it 3 years before you have to do that 10 minutes again.

Don't put it off. Things get in the way, but just get it done.

I am speaking from bitter experience so humour me please.

Thank you

As you were

Nope, done it. Twice actually cos they mis-labelled my sample.

Not exactly pleasant but cmoe on, you lot have (mostly) given birth. It's not that difficult.

Me. Had it booked, then had to cancel at the last minute I am below the age but had to have one before because of painful sex a few years back. I suppose I should re-book, but I am currently pestering GP with a bleeding ear and contraception stuff...

ShowOfHands · 21/10/2009 21:32

Techniques used getting better and better.

Come on you miserable lot, knees apart, bottoms down.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/10/2009 21:32

I had to have bits done today.

Would have been so much simpler if I had gone earlier.

Moving house, job, yadayadayada

just go do it

It honestly is worth it

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/10/2009 21:38

merry wife and charlotte

please just book it and go

It doesn't hurt (well never has for me)

OP posts:
AMumInScotland · 21/10/2009 21:38

Nope - I was there just a couple of days back. Though I'll admit the letter had sat there a few weeks, it was just because I wirk in a different town and thought it would be easier to arrange this week as I'm not working...

janeite · 21/10/2009 21:38

Not me as I've just had it - but I had to have the darn thing done three times in the last six months before they managed to get a result. Then they wonder why I put it off!

But yes - get it booked if you're overdue, ladies.

I went for mine a couple of weeks ago and it was a revelation.

New plastic se through spectrulum. No cold metal. Not so hard. Nurse can see where she's going. It still wasn't enjoyable, but it was just a little bit undiginified, didn't hurt at all and was only a little uncomfortable.

MegBusset · 21/10/2009 21:39

Had mine done last week.

A lot less uncomfortable than a stretch'n'sweep!

AMumInScotland · 21/10/2009 21:40

Not painful at all, just a tiny bit "scratched" feeling up there for an hour or two. Definitely worth it, and should not be "let slip" just for lack of getting round to it!

Frrrightattendant · 21/10/2009 21:40

am putting it off.

Am also putting off having ds's jabs, moles looked at, various other things that require going to Dr and sitting in HOT waiting room while people cough all over you, then going hom and finding you have caught something worse.

I have a Dr phobia these days. And I don't want to know I have something hideously incurable, thankyou.

Frrrightattendant · 21/10/2009 21:41

And it does hurt, well always for me - i am retroverted - and I have not even had periods since the last one (I was pregnant) and no sex, and I don't smoke. so am low risk in those terms.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/10/2009 21:43

I am ok. I had severe abnormal cells. They treated them there and then. I wish it had been caught earlier as it would have been easier to treat. Much more stressful than early treatment or smear test so

GET THE APPOUNTMENT AND DO IT IF YOU ARE DUE

OP posts:
BonjourIvresse · 21/10/2009 21:44

You might not still be retroverted, i used to be, but since having DD I'm not any more

upahill · 21/10/2009 21:44

God!! I must be due around about now! Thanks for the memory jog NSF. I'll get on to it. Bitter expierence over here as well so I should know better!!

I had my first smear in February (I think)and it was actually not the tiniest bit scary!

Had a lovely nurse who spoke all the way through it and because of this it just never even affected me even though I was going to cancel the appointemnt because of nerves.

I was 22 by the way and all clear thankfully

threetinytots · 21/10/2009 22:02

I've never had one.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/10/2009 22:05

ThreeTinyTots

Just book one and go

It is no hassle

OP posts:
Meglet · 21/10/2009 22:06

I always went to my smears and they found pre-cancerous cells in time for them to be treated. Just GO!!! Please!!!!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/10/2009 22:11
