Please get yourself down there

I know it isn't the most enjoyable or exciting 10 minutes of your life, but hey, once you do it then it 3 years before you have to do that 10 minutes again.

Don't put it off. Things get in the way, but just get it done.

I am speaking from bitter experience so humour me please.

Thank you

As you were

Hi Lostmyreligion
If you do a search for loop, leep or lletz in the health section you should find several threads and posts by women who have had treatment and gone on to have children.
Your screening result was severe dyskaryosis, I assume? Can I suggest the website I linked to earlier in the thread - it's the BSCCP, the colposcopists' association which has info about treatment and fertility.
I understand you're worried but you are better to go for the colposcopic assessment and appropriate treatment rather than leaving it.

lostmyreligion, please do go back. I have a good friend who has had 2 children following loop treatment with no problems.

Bela, wish I'd read your comment earlier. Results dropped onto the mat this morning and I nearly fainted with fear thinking they'd come back quickly because of bad news. Nope, all clear. That's a 5 day wait. I'm very impressed. Last time it was 6 weeks.

5 days for an all clear.

Roll up, roll up, it's a bargain.

How often are they due? I had one at a postnatal check 7 years ago, didn't have a postnatal check with dd (20mths) so no test.

If you're younger than 50 it's every 3 years.

4.5p - if you have kept your practice up to date with your address (and are in the UK) then you should have received a screening invite.

If you have moved in the interim and didn't let the practice know then the invite letter would have been sent to your old address. The main database works off the registration via your GP.
25-49 as SoH says it's 3 yearly.

Thank you! I thought it was every 5 years, or perhaps it used to be, either way I'm overdue.
