To be fair, she still comes on MN and I do find her v entertaining (in the main, sometimes bit too rude). MN has changed loads since I've been on, I think that the MNers from the start feel very protective of the site.

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:27

Lizzy, I have just looked at your profile, I didn't know you had been a member since 2005, you must have seen loads of changes.

Lizzylou · 21/10/2009 17:30

Actually Bella, it was November 2004, but I namechanged (jumped in head first and decided to start afresh!). I also had about a year where I didn't really post, when I had DS2 and couldn't remember my own name.
I like it more now, tbh.
Bit more inclusive, used to feel like you were a 1st year at school and were in awe of the "big girls".

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:31

I have just had the bank phone me up....

them - do you know you are going to have a large sum of money going into your account tomorrow?

me - err yes.

them - do you have any plans for it?

me - err what the chuff has it got to do with you but whilst you are asking, yes, diamond bloody earings.

them - oh, good congratulations, have a nice evening!

Blimey, they are hot on our tail to transfer it to another account.

TrillianSlasher · 21/10/2009 17:34

Diamond bloody earrings

How large is this sum?

TrillianSlasher · 21/10/2009 17:34

Sounds very nosy. I mean how large does it have to be for them to phone you, I would think more than a pair of earrings worth.

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:36

Large!

DH's shares shot through the roof on Monday when we sold them, large enough to pay capital gains tax.

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:36

And that is splitting the shares between me & him so that I don't pay as much tax...

TrillianSlasher · 21/10/2009 17:37

Oh right, so it's the whole lot of shares going in, not just your earring-money! I thought the banks must be having a hard time if they are hassling you about investing that.

NormaSknockers · 21/10/2009 17:37

That's a bit odd - you sure it was the bank? Just very odd for them to be cold calling like that, especially as most systems won't show the sum until it has completed the clearing process & actually been deposited!

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 21/10/2009 17:40

They are desperate for business though, aren't they?
They'll want you to invest it in their products.
Has your DH ever considered polygamy, Bella???
Just a thought.....

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:41

Well, a few of his shares, he has got others... that are earmarked to pay some of our mortgage off.

Norma - no tbh, I am not sure it was the bank or not, but no one else knows about it - especially the exact amount like she said. But I did not give anything away to her like account details or stuff. She asked for me or dh by name.

bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:44

lol at Lizzy. Do you know what, he does have two other women and they are his laptop and i-pod touch - they are permanently glued to his side and in between those and the charity he volunteers for, believe me he does not even have time for us (that's what it feels like anyway)

NormaSknockers · 21/10/2009 17:47

I only say that as used to work for a bank & we never, ever did cold calling of any kind. That's not to say other banks don't of course, just very odd as the funds wouldn't be visable on the system until at least midnight. It's odd but not impossible, at least you didn't give out any details & hoorah for the Diamond bloody earrings - have you got a pair picked out?

OP posts:
bellavita · 21/10/2009 17:50

oh yeah!

jetonthedancefloor · 21/10/2009 17:54

lizzy - I am the product of a jailbird mother, who actually SOLD one of my brothers to a neighbour when he was a baby! Thank god he, like the rest of us, were taken into care! Never known dad, abusive relationships etc ect ect

You would think that i would be having the tv producers banging down my door

But, i do think i have higher ambitions that that thouh

Lizzylou · 21/10/2009 17:55

My bank (HSBC) call us all the time to offer new things.
Gives me a heartattack every time as I think I'm in trouble!

jetonthedancefloor · 21/10/2009 17:55

and naturally the first of those ambitions is to learn to spellcheck

Lizzylou · 21/10/2009 17:56

Jet
Berlimey!!!!
Really don't know what to say about that, bugger me sideways

jetonthedancefloor · 21/10/2009 17:57

jetonthedancefloor · 21/10/2009 17:58

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 21/10/2009 17:59

Am just catching up on todays malarkey and chuckling away at you lot

Lamb style Quorn fillet thingamys tonight with roast potatoes, peas and cabbage.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 21/10/2009 17:59

Jet, you are really amazing.

I hope you are proud of yourself. I try and look at the legacy I am leaving my children as much as possible as it is so key to their emotional and mental wellbeing. Your DC's are really lucky to have you as their mum

Lizzylou · 21/10/2009 18:08

I agree with TMW, Jet.
That you are such a caring and loving Mother after such a start in life, well, I do hope that you realise how inspiring you are, honestly.
Inspiring us slackers in terms of weightloss too

NormaSknockers · 21/10/2009 18:13

Jet - that's making the difference isn't it. Making our DC's life different from our own. I was in care for a long time too, lots of shit went on, have had more step dads then I've had hot dinners & went through truly vile things before I finally got taken away from her aged 13. Sadly it wasn't long before I got placed back with her but soon got out of there again! Oh dear, sorry waffling, just wanted to say it shows a true sense of your strong character in wanting things to be different for your DC!
