I cried when I read how many failures theres been and applauded hub2dees approach as sometimes theres no point pussyfooting....come on guys! Its got to be done.
I am so so so gutted that theres been vile puffing going on...did you REALLY enjoy any of them. Truely satisfying were they? No No No! Tell you what though...waking up knowing that bastard nicotine monster has got no grip on me whatsoever is liberating. I could touch the sky with the high that im free. No chain round my neck.
Remember that just one is never just one and even if it was, why would you want JUST ONE? Your aim is to STOP FOREVER.

Glad to see nearly everyone found thier way here
I must confess myself to becoming the most IRRITATING person in real life though. The x smoker from hell.
Theres this woman that is always at the front of the bus queue...and she always lets the rest of the queue past her till she finishes her fag. She is never without fag and of course the first thing she does when she gets off the bus is fumble for the fags. I feel like leaving a copy of Allen in her favorite seat to show her theres another way.........
...I am nagging dp/best friend/mother daily as I would prefer to nag them than accept that thats it, im working on the theory it will eventually be easier to try, even half-heartedly than to listen to me rattling on day in day out relentlessly.
I feel like choking my mother as she lights another fag whilst she suppresses yet another cough......
Has anyone any supremem ideas for those moments when your hanging on the edge? Other that doing anything except smoking im a bit sparse with ideas at the mo.
Keep it up everyone...try and remeber why it was that you wanted to stop in the first place. Dont let the thought of just one poison your mind, it never is just one, its one packet, one week one month, one fag further to the grave.
Go the other way, choose the other path.

Alright,any help appreciated,for the weaker of us but lets not get too smug eh-its very easy to fall off the wagon-lets just get up and keep trying and supporting each other as best we can-its a gallaction battle we fight-harder than heroin-and we will all do it eventually and,who knows,have a great fag-free meet up one day when we get pissed as farts and praise each other for our victory!!!

cheers charliecat,great advice and yes keep nagging everybody,it was only dh's nagging that made me give up,i couldn't lit up a fag without him having a go and i ended up not enjoying them anymore because of it,so glad you're back,how's the new house?

gosh, had to hunt you lot down! well i'm finally here now as it was my birthday as of 11.22pm this evening so i have now joined the wagon.

am throwing a small party today for myself and ds2 who shares the same birthday so will be pretty busy for a while but PROMISE not to buckle as this is the beginning of the rest of my healthy life!

ha ha, will probably be on tomorrow in a foul ranting mood!!!

awww, i'm v. touched hub2dee - just had a look at that thread!

thanks everyone, present opening and cake eating over but now have to supervise hyperactive ds1 who is old enough to appreciate all the toys as birthday boy ds2 has fallen asleep at his own party, naturally.

I heard that too hubtodee - scary thought isn't it. For me, being pregnant was the only time i did manage to give up (apart from now that is). I just told myself thatif i wanted to pollute myself that was one thing, but my baby deserved a chance. I know it is easy to say but the minute i found out i stopped - well i had one fag to calm me down, then stopped.
I am still off the fags - and i don't know how many weeks it is now, apart from a minor blip.
I have managed to lose half a stone, and am feeling pretty damn good! I am going to have a glass of wine to celebrate - any onw care to join me
