I cried when I read how many failures theres been and applauded hub2dees approach as sometimes theres no point pussyfooting....come on guys! Its got to be done.
I am so so so gutted that theres been vile puffing going on...did you REALLY enjoy any of them. Truely satisfying were they? No No No! Tell you what though...waking up knowing that bastard nicotine monster has got no grip on me whatsoever is liberating. I could touch the sky with the high that im free. No chain round my neck.
Remember that just one is never just one and even if it was, why would you want JUST ONE? Your aim is to STOP FOREVER.

charliecat · 24/04/2005 22:03

I am so up my own arse I walk back out of anywhere smoky now
Really need a halo emotion!
DP can reek out the whole car for 5 mins after standing 5 feet away smoking, just his clothes and his pores are revolting. Did I really smell like that? Hell yes! ERRRRRRRR
You sound chirpier now, glad to hear it!

I am reading this, but sadly still smoking. I will give it another bash, just don't know when. See i am already making excuses.

cc did you get your carpets laid yet???

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 11:05

Still dont know how to copy and paste -i know its somewhere on my screen but not sure where.
Anyway,I'll be seven weeks tommorrow!
Hermione-give it another go,girl-what about Wednesday?I found I could never stop on a Monday as one of my stressful days but by Wednesday-life easier!!

fionagib · 25/04/2005 11:06

lol 'his pores are revolting'... know what you mean cc, don't mind dh's ciggie smell but am v aware of it, also don't like the faggy smell that sticks to you when you come out of a pub.

ding dong goes the halo... (not really - am v v lozzie-dependent).

staceym11 · 25/04/2005 11:13

I stopped smoking as soon as i found out i was pregnant at 6 weeks, my baby is now 6 months old and i havnt touched a fag since, i find the smell revolting which is worsened coz my partner smokes, does any one know how i can persued him to stop????

Hermione1 · 25/04/2005 12:04

I will try and have another go, my brain isn't in the right frame yet. But i'll keep reading to inspire me. hopefully.

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 12:23

I think,Hermione, you were trying to do too much at once what with diet as well-you're not a bloody saint!
Fiona-I'm also aware of lozzie intake-think I'm on more than the suggested one every two hours-and those 1 mg ones I suggested a while back are rubbish-you just need more because they dont last very long and they were slimy in the mouth too-YUK!

Hermione1 · 25/04/2005 12:26

That's what my mum said. I am doing so well on the diet, so i am inclined to stay on that and then quit. Becuase then i will be thin and if i put on weight when i stop smoking, it won't be so bad, lol. i don't know really. ahhhhhhhh, it s so hard.

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 12:29

You're making excuses! Give me all the reasons why you want to stop NOW!!!(In best school headmistress tone!)

WideWebWitch · 25/04/2005 12:37

Just popped in to see how you're all doing, wow, well done all you stoppers, esp Charliecat, it seems like 2 mins ago you were smoking, wow at 5 months!

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 12:39

The girl done good, didnt she?-especially with the stress of moving too! Inspirational! Three big fat halos for CC!!

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 12:48

Hermione-where are you??

fionagib · 25/04/2005 14:49

and where is minkmama... are you SMOKING IN THE GARDEN?????

prettyfly1 · 25/04/2005 16:55

hey guys - another smoke free day for me - i even put up with seeing the evil ex and running out of gum and still havent now I get a halo. Good news as finally get keys to new house on wednesday - so that will keep me really busy and not wanting to smoke at all!!! - thats the idea anyway

Adiet and trying to give up fags is too much - are you sure that you are really ready to quit? Sometimes you can REALLY want to but just not be ready to do so??? I kinda felt more ready this time and touch wood i seem to be a little more successful ( very tentative btu getting there!!)

As for the pregnant lady whose partner wont stop - SNIP THEM UP!!!!! - leave notes around with little quips on the harmful effects of passive smoke etc. lets see what happens then>

charliecat · 25/04/2005 17:38

I am pleased that we are mostly on track, I am leaving hermione to fester away herself till shes ready to join us again.......
We need an achievement emotion i think, to keep us going.
(omg my dd has just farted right next to me and its AWFUL lol!!!!!)
I mentioned to dp that he said he would stop at 30 and he is now 32....he said he should have a jolly good bash at it and then rethough what hed said and said actually I should just stop.
He keeps having half attempts hoping the urge will just go, just because he wants it to. I really had to educate myself about it before i could really get to grips with it.
I had to fully understand the fact that I couldnt possibly let another twitch of nicotine pass into my system if I was ever going to do this.
So at WWWs comment and dropinthes. I really hope Mink isnt smoking in the garden, her wee boys are gonna start lingering round her while shes puffing at the dustbin and it would be awful to see a whole family gathering round a wheeliebin all for the sake of a fag

PF are you buying a new house or renting or what? Sorry not been here that often to get to grips with all the comings and goings. Are you moving far from where you are? Tell me all the juicy details!

OP posts:
charliecat · 25/04/2005 17:41

P.S its lovely to be in a house youve no smoking memories in.
Did I tell you that the first thing my mum brought to my new house was a fucking ashtray to put outside the back door? This is before id put ANYTHING here. She brought an ashtray here.
Bollocks to her.

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 17:51

She's the sensitive type then?

dropinthe · 25/04/2005 17:52

Where is Whymummy?

prettyfly1 · 25/04/2005 18:31

oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats tactful - noone is allowed to smoke at my house!!!!!

I have been transferred into a shiney new house whichh i have been waiting ages for after living in homeless accomodation for the last year - really excited cause my baby boy is due and its my birthday next week - will be moving in at weekend ( what can i say - i like to cut it fine )

Just bought different lozenge to usual and they are much nicer - still same low dose but i prefer to gum infinately. Want to come off lozenges at 28 days though. Will beat this smelly addiction.

fionagib · 25/04/2005 20:41

pf how long till your baby is due? Hope all's going well, how exciting...

cc you've managed to kick the old stinky sticks even with dp smoking, which is a massive achievement. I've realised I can't use his smoking to gimme that excuse to crack any more. He'll quit when he's ready, I can't hassle him about it.

WideWebWitch · 25/04/2005 21:21

I've now been a non smoker for TWO YEARS and I so, so don't regret stopping, in fact I feel relieved: the black shadows (sorry to quote Carr!) at the back of my mind have gone and it's a relief. It's one less thing to worry about since smoking was stressful for me once I didn't want to be a smoker (but still was for years and years after wanting to stop). Yay, this is the longest I've ever been a non smoker. Well, apart from birth to 17! Well done again, it's really worth it. And now I'll leave you to your thread, keep it up guys

almost40 · 25/04/2005 21:29

Thanks, www. Hi all, here I am after another smoke-free weekend (and week). Thank you very much, patting myself on back. . .

charliecat · 25/04/2005 22:23

Hope you have a nice birthday next week....you must be really really pleased to have given up ...you can now say I have up when I was...bla bla...and be a year older even if it is only a week ago you were whatever.
I cant help but grin at the I gave up last year bit....does it for me.
Would anyone believe me if I said I was having to hassle dp into bed for a bj? god some men!
