For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky · 17/02/2009 19:31

Lemur you swot

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2009 19:32

remind me how old he is toot? in general i would not force it but leave appetising food around so he can help himself, no pressure
it does occur to me you are not eating properly yourself - sorry to beat you over head with it but obviously what we do does have effect on them

Hello TooT. Getting your sparkle back?

FairLadyRantALot · 17/02/2009 20:25

lol Atilla....I have tried most of those things you mentioned over time...work sometimes better than others...doesn't it....sigh...well, they are in bed now, well the little ones and es and his sleepover friend are in his bedroom on pc/ps2...and I am sitting here relaxing with a glass of red...
And I totally know what you mean, saying that sometimes their behaviour just make you not wanting to do anything...I am like that , too...
oh, and did you mean text as in texting with mobile phone? [dim]

Osmosis, I agree, Victorian Times would not be my cup of tea neither, as I would have been the same combo...

SB you sound like an amazng mum...

oh Franny...do let me know about dates, please, because I have a few things coming up...Naidex Exhibition and COT conference, which is a massive OT event, which I am hoping to be able to attend...
and oooops at you eating your mans dinner
before he came home...were you able to cover up by whipping something else up for him...?

pink...I do hope that bubba is going to show it's little face soon...

Well...as for f&v pretty rubbish...like 5 portion of peas....oh such variety!
Had a bit of a Family emergency...my mil is in respite care at the moment ( late stage Alzheimers/Dementia) and she only fell and broke her collar bone...poor little thing (she is teensy)

Oh and before I forget, Toot...my ys went through a phase where he would eat only cucumber and cooked plain pasta and Toast with Butter...he wouldn't even try anything, just refuse....and I did put my foot down and we would painstakingly get him to at least try teensy amounts of other foods...it was quite a tearful time for a while and at that time increased stresslevels...we woud only ask him to try, if he didn't like it or would start to retch he was allowed to spit it out....I know people will disagree with this big time...but this was last summer, and ys now at least continoues to try everything on his plate and has gotten used to a lot new foods since. And yes, people will now be sitting on thier hands (or not) and cursing at their screen at the cruelty...
however, your ds hasn't got that bad a variety I suppose...
oh, our theory behind making ds try foods (even those that we knew he isn't keen on and might have gagged on) was that sometimes we have to get used to the flavour and we start to like it!

TooTicky · 17/02/2009 20:33

Thank you for telling me about that Fairlady.

Pink, you in labour yet?

FairLadyRantALot · 17/02/2009 20:46

Toot...I have received a right telling off on a mn thread for doing this, it was likened to abuse and all sorts...
however, as it worked and my son doesn't seem to be damaged , I have no regretts...

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2009 20:47

fairlady i don't know what i would do in that situation but making them at least try a little bit sounds fairly reasonable to me!

toot LOL at the nut. just the one?

avi let's do it then, why not? i will try to get a hotel. they are usually expensive on saturdays and cheap on sundays but I expect we can manage something

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 17/02/2009 20:52

like I said, we had tears and struggles...and I think that is what people found unreasonable, etc...but I honestly think he would never have tried anything, because he just gotten out of the habit and gotten away with it for far to long....when he was little we really didn't liek to upset him if we possibly could avoid it, as he did this blue & white breatholding thing and he did a lot of passing out when he was little and got upset...

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2009 20:58

i think food is very emotive subject fairlady

about the meet up - i know this might be a pain - could we do it on the sunday again? or was it just too annoying for people? it does make the hotels so cheap you see [wheedling]

OP posts:
TooTicky · 17/02/2009 21:01

Sunday fine.

Boco · 17/02/2009 21:04

That weekend would be no good for me as my sister's wedding, and dds birthday. But don't worry if that suits others.

lettuce
carrot
tomatoes
cucumber
orange
juice
mango
raisins

only 8.

Horror of soft play centre, but I hid in a corner and got some drawing done so it was ok really. Did GOOD driving today. [proud]

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2009 21:15

oh no, boco
i think we have trouble then chaps
let's forget the whole thing

erm, ok, well who has a plan? because i don't

OP posts:
TooTicky · 17/02/2009 21:17
