Ding Dong Broccoli on High - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ach, slow computer!!!!

Crumpets would be brilliant apart from the fact that I'd have to make them. Porridge we do for weekend breakfasts. Crackers...um...they are very white, aren't they? I don't know if I get too hung up on nutritional value. Food disappears so quickly it's quite disheartening.

TinyWhiteFeather · 16/12/2008 00:59

Feathers would be lovely....I have always been inspired by the story of Icarus.
I seem to miss the times when lots of people are chatting on here and catch the tail end, then feel as if I have murdered the thread. [guilty emoticon].

Snacks for hungry children are a nightmare..We live next to the village shop which compounds it.
And they refuse to eat home-made versions of the food they eat...I'm not that bad a cook
Mine snack on..Plain biscuits, bananas, apples, dry bread (their choice), cheese straws.
The bread thing is a standing joke..I often say 'lets go to the canal and eat bread in front of the ducks', because you can guarantee they will eat more than the ducks get.
Lol at charades SB....especially ice-cream.

DD is sleeping but I can't....huh!.

SuperBunny · 16/12/2008 02:15

Pink, I saw your pics on FB and you look so young and lovely.

I can't think of anything cheap but nutritious, Toot. Bowls of brown rice would be filling but it's not a very snacky type thing. Crackers are very white. I dislike them but children here seem to live on them, And digestive type biscuits.

I have a cold. Grr.

TinyWhiteFeather · 16/12/2008 02:19

I was nosying at pink also..and agree with you SB. But then I think you look young and lovely too.

Sorry about your cold. They are the pits.

SuperBunny · 16/12/2008 02:37

I can assure you that I am neither young nor lovely. But am glad you think I look it!

I might go to bed. It's only 8:30 but I'm cold. Brr. It's minus 19 outside at the moment. Nice.

Thank you SB.

poinsettia99divine · 16/12/2008 11:45

Glad about dress
I think lunch is often the highlight of my day, as LR says moments alone

I love Hobbit and am not boy, but hate singing bits - and Lord of Rings songs even worse - Shadowmane rhyming with Rohan's Bane and such like yuck!

TooT how is DS2 eye?

FMV how is DS2 and social clunking?

How are other sick Vegglets?

Pink love the fish

I want the Trout

poinsettia99divine · 16/12/2008 11:47

We snack on oat bars, raisins, grapes,

Guad, DS is 2 1/2 but nowhere near starting potty training

TooT I am getting impatient for homeoathic remedy! Over a week since our appointment, is that normal?

House is mostly dry again now and leaking stopped so that's good, about to tackle builders and insurance

thenewme · 16/12/2008 12:03

I can't eat.

Hubby very upset with me.

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2008 12:23

I don't really know what to say thenewme. I don't know you or much about your situation but I do wish you well with it obviously

TooTicky · 16/12/2008 12:24

thenewme

Daisy, did she say when she would send it? Are you definitely getting one straight away without further observation/monitoring?
Christmas will be slowing the post down anyway.

Good news about the dress Franny

Right, I need some advice.
The teacher that I had so hoped dd2 would have is leaving . Ds2 had her for two years and she is the most wonderful person and made a world of difference to ds2.
I really wanted to make something for her - crochet maybe - but I don't know what. Or is it naff? Oh, and I only have until Friday!!!

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2008 12:26

oh no, not naff TooT
really nice - anything home made would be treasured i bet
could ds2 make something?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2008 12:29

oh
this is what i came on to say

ds2 fell off the sofa
he is ok we think, i took him to the doctor's in true PSB fashion
he fell on the hard floor
i was going upstairs
ds1 was with him and was EXTREMELY upset
it was my fault, i had left him on the v cushion and he managed to sit up and fall off

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/12/2008 12:32

Oh dear Franny....but these things do happen. You mustn't feel bad.

So, back to me
Yes, ds2 might do something....a doctor who picture probably but if I were to make something, what??
Hats are too personal I think...?
Scarf possibility.
Purse?
Small bag?

TooTicky · 16/12/2008 12:33

Sorry, that sounds awful but I need to decide quickly and am rubbish at decisions.

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2008 12:33

purse is lovely
to use a crocheted bag or hat you need to have a certain kind of style don't you think? a purse could be used by anyone

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/12/2008 12:33

I'm sure ds2 will be fine.

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2008 12:34

LOL at very un-TooT-like "so, back to me"

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/12/2008 12:34

Okay, purse it is then.
