Has anyone had this flu that's going round or got it now?

I'm interested in all the symptoms and how long one would be infectious for. TIA.

Yes I had that! My temp was going up to 39.6° between alternating meds. Ended up on antibiotics as it developed into a chest infection. Everything tasted bitter and coffee still doesn’t taste right two weeks later

Yes my boys caught it just as they broke up for xmas! Wiped them out for a whole week - xmas was a washout. Im gutted! Somehow I never caught it. My husband came down with a very mild version! Baffled as haven't had the jab!

I was sick a a few days before Xmas and lost smell and taste along with all the other sinus issues. Senses slowly coming back still not 100%.

Suddenly I’m losing my voice. Probably a symptom from this cold and my bronchitis that went on half last year already.

I’m awake as I’ve run out of night nurse. My whole head and ears feel blocked. Resorted to old fashioned remedies. Head over a bowl of steam under a towel and gargling warm salt water. Now sipping a lemsip. I feel better sitting up so will probably give up on the idea of sleep.

I am on day seven and I’m feeling better. But very weak and wobbly.

I was very blocked with terrible sinus pain and lots of yellow/green snot. (SORRY TMI?!)

I have been prescribed doxycycline and it has really really helped. Failing that the Boots sinus relief tablets from behind the counter.

I'm on day ten. Tired, painful cough. Had lemsip this morning. Hospital said negative for flu A and Covid test but doctor said I looked fluey. Debating whether to take the dog out in the snow. She desperate to go but I need to work Tuesday to Friday so not sure if I dare risk it as keep feeling a tad better than set back. Taste has gone, had a madras curry yesterday and it barely registered as hot. I'm a korma girl so it should have blown my head off. Asthma inhaler not really helping.

Thats interesting as my husband said everything tastes bitter too so maybe he needs antibiotics too. I hope you feel better soon.

I took my son to school and to shop to stock up on meds and I got home feeling horrific. I’d definitely not recommend going out in the snow feeling like this!

Thanks that’s helpful to know. I now have tinnitus in my right ear. I would love for it all to decongest in a snotty mess!

I probably will make a doctor’s appt now.

the problem I’ve got now is leaving my house or anyone getting to me due to snow. It’s a suburban road but I’m right at the end of a long cul de sac and it’s never gritted

I’ve had this since before Christmas. I had COVID and flu jabs and I’ve tested negative for both COVID and influenza A and B twice during the illness. I’ve tried to work today and I’m completely incapable. I thought I was getting better after four days in bed from Boxing Day but then the runny nose started, almost like another illness. I’m also very low and weepy.

I went for a short walk to corner shop yesterday as was feeling better and needed some fresh air but it started off shivers, aches and pains. Had appt with doc today and confirmed flu. Feeling pretty sorry for myself. Think it's best that anyone with this just stays home until we are 100% better.

I am better! Day 13 all told and I actually fell back to normal.

I stayed in bed for 10 days pretty much.

That’s good to hear. I’m on day 8 and feel like I’m getting worse. Certainly no sign of a corner being turned.

I hoped I was getting better. It’s day 5 for me and about 20 for DH who has been on and off! No fever for me but aching, headache, blocked sinuses and burning nose. DH drenched in sweat in night. Dreading school run :-(

Day 15 for me and touch wood I'm feeling loads better. I'm on antibiotics for the cough and that is much better so obviously doing its job and have much more energy which is good as it was back to work yesterday.

Day 15 for me too and I'm finally feeling better 🙌 Still got the last traces of a cough and still no sense of smell or taste but feeling pretty much back to normal thank goodness.

It's been a week now for me and feeling more myself. Slowly getting my energy back but trying not to overdo it. I feel my cough is easing slightly too, fingers crossed.

Day 10 and 80% better. Lingering cough, lethargy and tight chest but well enough to wfh and potter around. The thought of doing any exercise or going shopping is akin to climbing kilimanjaro though!

Day 12 here - started with a cough (unusual for me) over Christmas. Have had several days in bed - feverish, coughing (now almost gone) and full of snot (still continues) and no sense of smell. What I’m struggling with is lack of energy. So far I’ve struggled through Christmas, a few days in N Wales and now a ski trip - all from bed/the sofa. I was never planning on skiing on this trip thank goodness but thought I’d be meeting the rest of the group during the day. But if I walk down to the cafe I get wobbly. Feeling really down and teary about it at the moment. Feels like it will never end.

What I will add is that I feel really anxious. My period is due so this isn’t abnormal for me but even after being in the house for four whole days, I feel like I’ve forgotten how to function and talk to people and do ‘normal’ things and I’m scared to! I want to avoid the world forever and stay in my bubble! I went to sleep after I dropped my son at school and woke four hours later. Whilst I have improved I have such a rattle cough that I am doing my best to avoid as it’s so painful!

Day 18 here.
Was feeling a lot better yesterday and thought I’ve done it! I’ve turned the corner!
Stayed home and rested all day just in case only to wake up this morning feeling a lot worse…again! This must be the 3rd or 4th false start.. . Terrible headache, sinus issues etc.

…also struggling to speak as so short of breath, feels like I don’t have enough oxygen.

Please see a Dr or call 111 just to make sure you don't need any other treatment.

Day 8 here and still full of mucus (now bright green - sorry tmi), ears blocked, painful teeth… I don’t think this will get better without antibiotics.
