P.s can anyone link me to the previous thread, before this one was created? Thanks.

catmomof3 · 25/04/2024 17:46

I put in a econsult letter today with my GP for a diagnosis letter to show British Airways but some ladies on a group I'm in say my GP cannot write one as I have not met my oncologist yet (I just finished my staging scans and have my EDTA next week) to discuss treatment. However my GP surgery has said there is a letter waiting for me to collect. Someone else then said I'd need to prove treatment. I think that would be needed if I was claiming via my travel insurance but I just need BA to hold my booking.

This is stressing me out. My GP must know of my diagnosis or they wouldn't have done me a letter. But then some are saying they don't tell the GP till I give consent after I meet my oncologist ??? This is too confusing for my autistic brain 😢

@DDClancy
So sorry to hear the sad news about our lovely @tilllly
She was always ready with some sensible advice & sympathy and her lovely sense of humour will be so sadly missed. Please give her family our best wishes and thank you for coming on to let us know. Tilllly knew that we would rather hear the worst rather than be left always wondering so thank you.

Enigma52 · 25/04/2024 21:26

BreakfastClub80 · 26/04/2024 08:35

@catmomof3 is it possible to ask your GP surgery to show you the letter when you pick it up so that you can see what they have said? This might make it clearer.

Fantasea · 26/04/2024 09:57

@DDClancy thank you for letting us all know about your beautiful friend Tilllly, so sorry for your loss. She was a lovely lady who was always very kind to me and will be greatly missed by us all on here. Thinking of you and all her family and friends Xxx

MothralovesGojira · 26/04/2024 11:33

@catmomof3
Doctor's surgeries do differ on procedures so the ladies who've said that you can't have a letter are probably correct for their own circumstances but not yours. If your surgery has said that it's done a letter then they've done you a letter regardless of what others say. Is it possible that they mean about claiming on insurance? You would probably need an oncologists letter for that.
Hopefully you've picked it up now and you've got what you need. Don't panic about postponing your holiday and getting it done right now as you do have plenty of time.
Is your MDT today or was it yesterday? Have you had any updates from your nurse?

catmomof3 · 26/04/2024 11:45

@MothralovesGojira My dad picked up my letter this morning and all they have given me is a copy of my smear results 🤦🏻‍♀️ Not what I asked for at all lol. I spoke to BA again last night to clarify and they said a GP or consultant letter is fine as long as it states I cannot travel on my travel dates.

I'm sure I'll be discussed again at the MDT this morning but I'm still waiting on my oncologist appointment but my nurse did sort out my kidney function test and that's booked for next Thursday.

MothralovesGojira · 26/04/2024 12:03

Oh that made me laugh - typical of surgeries!
I know that you want to get it all sorted out asap but the thing with cancer is that it all goes at it's own pace. It has no regard for our schedules or wants + needs. You (presumably) have travel insurance so you at least you do have that fall back if you need it.

That's great news about your kidney function test. Hopefully you'll get your oncology appointment through very soon.

tam23 · 26/04/2024 12:05

@DDClancy I’m sorry that Tillly is no longer with us. Thank you for taking the time to let us know, at what must be a really difficult time for you. She has been very much in my thoughts. She had a great spirit and helped me when I was feeling low.

catmomof3 · 26/04/2024 13:17

The other cancer nurse called me (the one I met when diagnosed and she was just not very nice and try to imply I may die) she basically said called to confirm the cancer as all my scans had been looked at, at the mdt. She said stage 3C, she didn't tell me 1 or 2 but last week I was told I had some enlarged pelvic lymph nodes but not sure if they lit up elsewhere. Should fingers crossed have an appointment next week to meet the oncologist and go over the best treatment.

TopOfTheCliff · 26/04/2024 18:19

Our very own virtual pub the Patience Inn will be open tonight serving free drinks for those who wish to share stories and remember our friend @Tillly
No doubt Daisy Dog and Leo the Lemur will be chasing round the Beer Garden.
Raise a glass to our lovely friend and be sad she is no longer with us in this world.

EachandEveryone · 26/04/2024 19:31

I have a bottle of Aperol and will make a spritzer and raise a glass x
