My nausea is so horrifically awful, every single day I wake up retching, I have actually vomited a few times but for the past week it has just been severe nausea. I can't do anything! I'm plagued by it. It is so much worse when I wake up and when I go sleep I'm literally gagging. H pylori has just come back negative so doc will refer me to gastro (so they said) but still waiting for that call booked for next week. I can't hack spicy food anymore and I'm wondering if I have gastroperiasis or severe gastritis. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? It's ruining everything it's so miserable

You need to leave two hours between omeprazole and anything else. . I take it first thing then can't take anything for two hours.

Thank you. It's took the edge off, not completely gone but so far it's not as bad which is nice

Looks like I'm going to be waiting a bit longer for a referral. Doc called me today and has increased the omeprazole dosage and said to wait 4 weeks and if it doesn't go, she will refer. She is convinced I currently have a stomach ulcer or gastritis and said the treatment is a PPI so she thinks it's best to try and see if that works first before being referred

In fairness, I had worse problems than this at one point and PPIs did fix that, to the point no one could find anything on the scan.

And honestly, I was really, really sick at that point. I ended up going down to six and a half stone. It was really bad.

(Actually I'm kind of pissed off that they didn't find anything after leaving it so long, but that's another story! It's really hard having something invisible wrong with you so it's never nice to not get validation.)

emilylouisex1 · 02/02/2024 06:35

@WolvesDiscoandBoogaloo that's exactly what she said to me, she said she's certain it's an ulcer or potentially gerd and she said the treatment is the same and a lot of patients can be disappointed especially when they've waited for a diagnosis. I'm hoping the PPI's work

Coffee is the one thing I struggle with out of all of that, I feel like such a zombie if I don't have a morning coffee sigh

Did you get a feeling of being full after eating literally anything and little things? Just had toast and I feel like I've eaten a 3 course meal

Yes I was a mouse nibbling and pushing around food

@windymcgregor - I feel amazing in the Acid Watcher - loads of energy, not catching every bug going, my skin is clearer, m a good weight now (lost a bit too much but now regained 2kg). My digestive system as a whole feels much more stable esp since I’ve been eating more greens (kale) - it seems to help the wind issues. Also upping beans and pulses now too.
Agree that lack of coffee is depressing though. I do sometimes froth oat milk in the nespresso frother w a bit of vanilla extract. Or I make a turmeric latte on the Hob. Also buy a Rebel Kitchen coconut water occasionally. I’m looking forward to my one cup Of coffee a day in maintenance!
I have been off ppi for nearly 3 months now. I just rely on Gaviscon Advance and the diet (have had all major tests).
At the beginning of this I had no appetite, felt nauseous, my bowels were awful, I was in a right state. The diet helped the bad symptoms quickly but I still get reflux (although only been 100% strict since new year).

It's awful. I try so hard to not go a&e because realistically what can they do, they'll probably send me back home. I made the mistake of having a McDonald's tonight as I felt so good and not very sick at all! I had a really good day and now I'm curled over in bed vomiting and a real pressure in my stomach 😭😭 I wish I knew what was wrong - I'm due an omeprazole now and too scared to take it incase I just vomit it back up

OP posts:
emilylouisex1 · 03/02/2024 22:21

@justasking111 I think I should have kept doing that tbh. I had the best day I've had in months today, and I ruined it by having a McDonald's. All I had was half medium chips and half a chicken burger (couldn't even finish it) and this was two hours ago...I'm still curled over with the worst pressure in my stomach

Oh Emily you've brought this on yourself. It's grim I know and has set you back. We all do it. I can't eat McDonald's now.

After a session like this I'm on cups of weak tea. Two digestive biscuits every couple of hours. Then rubbish quality white sliced bread with a thin scrape of butter and a slice of bread. One round only eaten slowly.

I do this for two or three days.

If you get black coffee ground type vomit phone 111. Otherwise give yourself a good talking to.

emilylouisex1 · 04/02/2024 08:19

@justasking111 thank you so much. I think I just have such a tendency to panic due to my anxiety to begin with. I did call 111 and not because of coffee ground sick, since about 2am I've had a real bad pressure in my stomach, I'm dizzy (probably because I haven't eaten much tbh) and I just feel so unwell. They said a doc will call me back to assess me but an hour has passed and I think I'm going to try and eat something. I'm supposed to be going on holiday tomorrow 😭 I really don't want to be sitting in a&e, I've just took an omeprazole now, I'm going to eat a biscuit and then around 10 I think il take the anti sickness tablet. I don't want my holiday to be ruined because of this sigh

Taking your omeprazole first thing in the morning is the best way forward so hopefully you’ll see an improvement.

So far no change but only been a few days so I'm not expecting a miracle. Pressure in stomach is not as bad now but I am absolutely starving so I'm just savaging digestives, going to take an anti sickness tablet and try and get some sleep as I was up on and off through the night retching and in pain

Why do you keep commenting asking me to get checked for different cancers? That's really not helpful

I reported it @emilylouisex1

Was hoping it would be deleted before you saw it. Massively unhelpful post in response to someone with health anxiety Flowers

That's something only a gastroscopy can show. @emilylouisex1 has admitted her diet wasn't the best, add in anxiety extra stomach acid flowing. Her GP is following a well trodden path with omeprazole, anti nausea meds which were working until she hit McDonald's.

She can of course go private get a gastroscopy in the next few weeks. However the NHS GP system won't take shortcuts.
