Please someone have tips for nausea

My nausea is so horrifically awful, every single day I wake up retching, I have actually vomited a few times but for the past week it has just been severe nausea. I can't do anything! I'm plagued by it. It is so much worse when I wake up and when I go sleep I'm literally gagging. H pylori has just come back negative so doc will refer me to gastro (so they said) but still waiting for that call booked for next week. I can't hack spicy food anymore and I'm wondering if I have gastroperiasis or severe gastritis. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? It's ruining everything it's so miserable

@Cantcope3211 oh my I do sympathise with you! It's honestly awful. But really?! June even for urgent? My goodness. That is long. So do you find the nexium helps better than the sickness tablet? I think my doctor wants to put me on a PPI as it does say it on my nhs notes, still haven't been phoned yet but receptionist called me before they closed and said doctor is planning on calling me tonight but may not get around to it so they said if she doesn't call I should contact the surgery tomorrow

Yeah my doctor did the same I was put on lansoprazle then pantoprazole then omeprazole after that he said it would have to be a camera I asked if it was worth having a blood test he said no he wouldn’t even know what to test for the Nexium sometimes helps it takes the edge off but isn’t always 100% the nausea is so bad sometimes I can’t even get up from bed I’ve showed you what it says on my nhs app I was referred on 18 Jan hopefully if you get one it’s quicker but it is bad I’ve had this since October cyclizine does help too but has a side effect of lowering blood pressure mine is already in the 70s so only use in a emergency

Please someone have tips for nausea

I don't know what your diagnosis will be but it sounds familiar to some issues I've got. I'm afraid I'm also undiagnosed but I can give you some tips that have helped me.

I would be really careful to avoid taking ibuprofen at all. I'd also stay away from diclofenac and naproxen, also any gels that contain those.

My other tip is to make sure you're lying on your left side when you sleep or lie down. Lying on your left side then uses gravity to keep your stomach upright, which I've found a lifesaver with similar symptoms. I didn't notice for ages, but I've had a few occasions where I've been instantly sick changing from lying on my left to the right.

I've personally not found anything foodwise that seems to make a difference but avoiding alcohol completely makes a noticeable difference for me. I've gradually been able to introduce small amounts again but I have to be super careful with wine in particular still.

Breast cancer can cause lots of nausea

Do you check your chest often ?

emilylouisex1 · 30/01/2024 19:54

@Cantcope3211 did you find the lanzoprazole or emeprazole worked for you at all? It is so hideous to have honestly I feel like I can feel everything in my stomach when my sickness flares up

Thank you. Sorry to hear you're in a similar situation. Have you been referred at all? & i didn't know about the left side sleeping! I do find tossing and turning makes things worse, a lot worse, I will retch each time. I'm never touching ibuprofen again either that was a huge mistake

Honestly no my doctor gave up prescribing in the end I’ve brought one of them wedge pillows to try to keep myself up right in case I’m sick in the night I’m hoping it isn’t gonna be June just taking everyday as it comes but I know you can drive yourself mad and thinking up worse case scenario try to relax and just take every day as it comes

emilylouisex1 · 30/01/2024 20:14

@Cantcope3211 I do hope it goes quickly for you. I also worry about being sick in the night. I do prop myself up though, I don't find it helps much with the symptoms

I have been referred but it took years to get an appointment and I've still never seen a gastro doctor face to face. I've got no idea what could be causing it but at least it doesn't seem to be life threatening.

I went private. Consultant cat scan and MRI around 1k

howlongtilsummer · 30/01/2024 20:52

Mine is one of my long covid symptoms.

emilylouisex1 · 30/01/2024 20:55

@WolvesDiscoandBoogaloo thank you. Just got a call now, doctor has prescribed 10 tablets of anti sickness and omeprazole, she said she's hopeful the omeprazole will ease my sickness and then I won't need the anti sickness tablets, she wouldn't refer me because she's not the doctor dealing with my case but said she's put me on for a phone call with the doctor who knows my issues and hopefully get an urgent referral done🥲🥲🥲🥲

Hopefully that will help. If it does ease it, at least it will put your mind at rest that it isn't something very serious.

Oh, I just thought as well, Actimel drinks have helped me too. I recommend trying those too.

Have you told your gp about overusing ipuprofen? It destroys your stomach lining especially when taken on an empty stomach and for more than 5 days. Could well be linked to this and they need to know

goingcommando · 30/01/2024 21:25

@emilylouisex1 sniff hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes. We give patients that until we can get a dr to prescribe antiemetics, there are studies showing that alcohol wipes work quicker than ant sickness medications

LoveRules · 30/01/2024 21:27

We've all had a weird bug where the main symptoms were nausea and headaches every morning.
I thought it was migraines and after three weeks went to the doctor who prescribed me something but at the same time the rest of my tribe started developing the same symptoms.

I'm finally back to normal albeit with a reduced appetite. Never was sick but felt soooo sick.

I haven't tbh. But I only started taking ibuprofen when the issues started as ibuprofen was the only thing that helped. However when I did take it everyday, that was back in may last year, then the flare went and I had no issues again until September, it's hard to pin point what is causing it
