OJ what a horrible afternoon you've had. I can't believe people are still arsing around unhelpfully. Glad the mac nurse is going give MIL the facts, hope that helps.

You'll be needing either a cup of tea or a rum, won't you?

LittleMissNorty · 10/03/2008 15:34

Oh OJ.....makes you want to scream...all this red tape

Well I hope the consultant does get to see his mum and gives it to her straight...its about time she understood what you are going through.

{{hugs}}

Tickle · 10/03/2008 15:41

sounds like the cons is doing the best she can, but another two weeks seems much too long.

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 15:45

Steve wants to come home and i want him to come home, why cant things be simple, i don't know what happens if the assessment doesn't show that he needs continuing care, cos he needs that assessment to get the 24hour care.
fingers crossed for tomorrow, i cant be there for the assessment tomorrow as i have a very important meeting at the girls school which i have cancelled 3 times, it is their transition review to plan their future, to be honest i don't want to think about the fecking future.

LittleMissNorty · 10/03/2008 16:02

tbh I don't know how the assessment could show anything else ...why didn't they think doing it privately was an option?

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 16:32

they said private care would cost me a fortune plus it would be better for them to sort out the care staff and know that they had the correct training and support in place.

LilRedWG · 10/03/2008 16:47

(((hugs)))

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 10/03/2008 17:01

OJ, I Have sent you a CAT message.

lucyellensmum · 10/03/2008 17:09

OJ just continuing my support and love. I just wish you could get this sorted, i feel like throttling people for you .

OJ please never let those people think your children are second best because they are autistic. That is their narrowminded bigotted nature coming to the fore and is very much their loss. You have a beautiful family, but then you know that

lucyellensmum · 10/03/2008 17:11

OJ, where are you? Have you got that fence sorted yet? My DP is fit and strong......and could probably spare an afternoon this week, (he does as he is told so he does)

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 17:41

Nab my email seems to be working at the moment but has been playing up a lot lately so if i dont reply to you it isn't cos i am ignoring you.
i have someone coming to do the fence one night this week so i should be ok.
i have set two mouse traps to sort out the mouse problem thou i am scared of mice so will have to get someone else to check the traps and dispose of any dead furry things.

LilRedWG · 10/03/2008 17:46

I'll post my cat to you OJ!

lucyellensmum · 10/03/2008 17:46

OJ, i know this might sound a bit daft, well mental daft actually and everyone on the thread might fall off of their chairs with their mouths wide open. But what about a cat? If you really dont like mice and cant be doing with the traps, the cat will get the ones you have and any others should think twice. I know you have so much on your plate right now that a cat would be the LAST thing on your mind, but maybe a rescue moggie, less hassle than a kitten to get settled and something for the kids to take the edge off things?

Nah, its a shit idea, i'll post it anyway, so you can laugh hysterically and rock back and forth at the ridiculousness of it.

lucyellensmum · 10/03/2008 17:47

ah, problem solved, lilredwg is sending you hers!

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 17:53

now a cat would be a really fab idea except that i have anaphylaxis to fur so a cat would be a tad dangerous i feel, i have an epipen on standby for the mouse

lucyellensmum · 10/03/2008 17:55

oh, thats a bummer - mind you, you CAN get genetically modified hypoallergenic cats now - from america of course, ONLY seven thousand pounds each

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 17:56

oh i will have a couple then

LilRedWG · 10/03/2008 18:01

Well, you can get those bald cats!

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 18:53

even i have standards you know

LilRedWG · 10/03/2008 21:10

I think they are quite cute, but it appears I'm in a minority

onlyjoking9329 · 10/03/2008 21:26

my mate went to see steve tonight and saw his brother who said he was sorry we had had words, will see what happens next i will know tomorrow if the consultant spoke to steves mum.
the consultant at the hospice has made the decision that steve has no more chemo, i am relieved in some ways as steve is not able to make a rational choice on this and i didn't want to choose for him.

cookiesandscream · 10/03/2008 22:44

Oj love,
always know that your love for Steve and your kids shines through all the other stuff,
i am sure that Steve feels the love that you and the kids have for him. it is your

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 11/03/2008 08:07

Hi OJ

I hope you have a better day today.

I got your email and replied last night.

Take care

Buda · 11/03/2008 08:17

Oj it really is one thing after another isn't it? I hope the consultant manages to get through to Steve's Mum. At least his brother seems to know that he was in the wrong.

I really hope that the assessment leads to what you want BUT be prepared that it might not. 24 hour care is probably hugely expensive and they might decide against it for that reason. I don't want to upset you but you need to be prepared. I hope i am wrong.

LilRedWG · 11/03/2008 08:31

OJ - I'm glad that they have taken the decision out of your hands, it wasn't fair on you to have to make that choice. I hope that you and Steve have a better day today. xx
