they all said it was a useful meeting and they had spent a lot of time putting together a form and the said based on steves score it would be unusual not to get it funded.
No sign of steves family at all
they said something about it going to the comissioner but i don't know if thats the meeting on tuesday or they mean if the funding is not agreed on tuesday they will go to comissioner, my head was spinning by that point.
After the meeting the consultant went to see steve and tryed to explain what was happening but he wasn't really understanding stuff.

OJ - FWIW, it should be the commissioners on tuesday - tye are the ones who hoslt eh purse strings. they will look at all the joint assessments, and decide which elements of Steve's care can be SS funded and which need to be health. It's basically that neither wants to foot the whole bill.

If they are meeting on tues, I would hope you will get a decision then - particualrly if 24hr care has already been agreed.

At least this is how it works round my way.

How many officials does it take to change a light bulb? Quite a lot it would seem, and then only ater several meetings. What next, they will be having meetings to discuss meetings - wankers .

Could they assure you OJ that this will finally be sorted on Tuesday for you all??
I mean, how difficult can it be, the man is dying, he wants to be with his family, and they can't decide where the money is going to come from - unbelievable

thanks sagpuss, they said it is a weekly panel on a friday but that they are hoping to get it pushed throu on tuesday,
steves SW has been sorting out agencies and stuff but until she knows who is funding she can't do anymore.

On the plus side, you are step nearer getting Steve home - it would be helpful if you knew how many steps it would take, though. And I'm guessing Steve wasn't expecting to go home today.

I think the commissioner is someone who decides how to provide the funding too. I've different names for it, but I agree with shrinkingsagpuss. So that could be your next hurdle.

Really sorry it didn't get further today.

Oh God. It just is so incredibly hard for you isn't it. Did they at least prescribe rum and coke for you as a stress reliever?

I live in Leicester and have just realized that you might not live so far away if you are east mids - i would love to do something amazingly useful for you but can't think what apart from bringing you a batch of home cooked food. OJ, I've been thinking about you the whole day. It must be so frustrating not to have a final decision but it does feel like they are getting closer. Glad to hear all agree that Steve needs the 24 hour care. I know its horrible having yet another delay but hopefully but Tuesday all will be signed & sealed. You must have been relieved that none of Steve's family turned up as well. How are you feeling hun? I can imagine that after today you are completely drained. Hope you are able to get some 'chill' time tonight. Sending you a big hug for getting through today. xxx

Good news that they all agreed the 24hr care was necessary etc, but why on earth could they not have told you when this meeting was planned that it was not the final hurdle?

i am feeling pissed Drained, the phone has rung a few times tonight but i just didn't want to bother with it all, My head hurts my heartaches and i just want steve to be here with us all, i miss him so much.
