Some say tooth pain is one of the worst pains to have.

What would you say the worst pain is you’ve experienced?

Dislocated shoulder and fractured humerus…bloody awful
Toothabcess a close 2nd .

Natsku · 04/10/2022 15:55

When I had hydronephrosis and appendicitis at the same time, while heavily pregnant (with my darling foetus kicking the affected areas from within). I was in the hospital on as much pain relief as was possible considering my pregnancy for the hydronephrosis and the doctors were very confused as to why I was still in so much pain until they realised my appendix was inflamed as well. Recovery after the appendectomy wasn't fun either, with baby kicking my wound from the inside.

The worst part was when they had to remove the dirt from the road from my chin by rubbing it with a plastic brush. My chin was literally black from when my face hit the road.

They did that to DD1 once, after a fall onto her chin, which was all black - they gave her quite a few local anaesthetic injections before they started. Even so, DD2 fainted, just having to watch!

emmetgirl · 04/10/2022 16:10

Child birth. So far anyway.....

Spanielsarepainless · 04/10/2022 16:11

Torticollis, also known as wryneck. I was taken to hospital as the symptoms can be mistaken for brain haemorrhage. Vast amounts of codeine didn't touch it but an acupuncturist cured it with one needle.

User65412 · 04/10/2022 16:15

Labial stitches after a natural childbirth at home, and the recovery after. It was 10 x worse than the birth. The midwives had to hold me down and I was screaming. Not sure why I found it so horrendous but worse than anything I've ever felt.

Thecat19342 · 04/10/2022 16:16

Suffered with a broken foot, 3 childbirths, spd and frozen shoulder but none of them came close to the pain of a postpartum womb infection. Hideous. I was withering around on the floor screaming (I had no painkillers during labour so quite hardy!) hubby didn't know whether to call a priest alongside an ambulance.

Spent a week in hosptial and didn't recover properly for over a month. Awful, awful experience.

katseyes7 · 04/10/2022 16:20

standing and weight bearing on a fractured and dislocated ankle. mind blowing This.
And post hip replacement. Terrible piriformis pain, but at least l knew it'd go eventually, unlike the arthritis which would have got even worse. I'd had virtually no cartilage left in my hip joint, and bone cysts and spurs. Even my surgeon said it was 'a bloody mess in there'.

bbnotwo · 04/10/2022 16:21

My episiotomy bursting open 1 week post partum, and any time I had to go the loo whilst it was like this

fairtrauchled · 04/10/2022 16:24

Worst pain I have ever experienced was a dislocated shoulder.
Far worse than any labour pains.

MrsT84 · 04/10/2022 16:29

The pain that led to me having emergency spinal surgery last Friday - herniated disc causing cauda equina - bilateral sciatica and back spasms. Horrendous! The first doctor that saw me was going to send me home with paracetamol! 15 hours later I was on my way to surgery.

Smashed tibia and fibula, comminuted fracture with complete dislocation of the ankle. Couldn’t be operated on for 5 days because of gross swelling after the dislocation was reduced.
Morphine, codeine and ibuprofen didn’t touch the pain.

Same for me only mine was also compound (open) my foot was no longer attached to my leg .It happened on holidays in a European country and of course they waited to find out if I had any health insurance before doing anything .Not even pain relief was administered .Then when the time came for me to go to the Operating room a road traffic accident came in so I was shoved into a room for a few hours all on my own not knowing what was going to happen.I was delirious with pain .I will never ever forget it.
Same ankle a few years ago , this time fusion of the joint .Unbelievable pain Childbirth and a Section was easy compared to it , somehow more under my control and I got two lovely babies out of it!

Titsflyingsouth · 04/10/2022 16:38

Childbirth - no question.

Lairig · 04/10/2022 16:49

Came out from under anaesthetic right at the start of an operation but while cut was being made....

wonkylegs · 04/10/2022 16:59

Hmm probably the labral tear when I already have Arthritis in my hip.
It was excruciating and there was no way to get comfortable

I have also got hallux rigidis (big toe joint degeneration) in both feet which causes annoying disabling pain all the time but is excruciating if I stub my toe far worse than it used to be if I did it before the HR and takes a long time before I can walk properly again even if I only gently knock it.

Emotionalmessy · 04/10/2022 17:01

A medical abortion at 8 weeks with no pain relief or anesthetic , and also my ovary burning for some reason during child birth

allfurcoatnoknickers · 04/10/2022 17:10

Having all 4 wisdom teeth out - the recovery was awful.
Covid sinus migraine - thought my head would explode.
Breastfeeding. I used to scream and dry heave from the pain. It was AGONY.

Honorable mention to having the cannula put in my wrist pre-C-section. It hurt about 500 times more than the C-section and recovery. I was more bothered about the pain in my wrist than the dull ache in my abdomen when I was in the hospital recovering.

Tilda77 · 04/10/2022 17:21

The pain after surgery to remove anal polyps/skin tags. I thought it would never get better. Was about 8 weeks of constant pain.

dropthevipers · 04/10/2022 17:48

Fractured a few vertebrae in my back. That hurt but was nothing compered to when they had to move me from the stretcher to the MRI machine. I heard this blood curdling scream from miles away when they started, which got louder until I realised it was me. If I had had a gun then I would have shot myself, no question.

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/10/2022 18:11

Tooth abscess or ear infection for me.

Calandor · 04/10/2022 19:55

Third degree burn on my leg (until the nerves were damaged).

bestbefore · 04/10/2022 19:55

Gallstones attack

PaperPalace · 04/10/2022 19:56

Impacted wisdom tooth.

Slipped disk in my back 25 years ago. Three weeks of hell before the pain finally started to subside. Every day I thought about crawling in front of a city bus and ending it all. Labor with DS1 lasted about 20 hours and was really really bad, but that at least had a purpose. This back thing, just no.

Same.
