Some say tooth pain is one of the worst pains to have.

What would you say the worst pain is you’ve experienced?

@Throwawaytoday having your tonsils out was worse than breaking your leg in 4 places??? 🙈🙈 Christ!! is that why doctors are reluctant to remove them these days? Mind you, I had a small lump removed from my mouth this year using local & about 4 stitches & I was amazed at how painful that proved to be over the next week - & it formed a horrible abscess too. Not pleasant!

It genuinely was more painful than the leg. That's not to say it'd be the same for everyone, every break is different.

I broke my leg aged 17 - all bottom half (tib and fib) maybe would have been worse if it was my femur. It really hurt, but if I sat very still, I could get some relief.

But nothing like the searing, burning, and ongoing pain of tonsillectomy I cried trying to eat plain yogurt five days later. It was absolutely BRUTAL. And there was no escape, it just burned all the time, for over a week.

Toss up between being forced to push a transverse oblique baby, or the aftermath of a deep lumpectomy at the base of my tongue. The stitches were a mess, I couldn't eat, the tongue was dry, but the pain. Oh god the pain.

I had cellulitis in both feet and ankles from insect bites and it was easily 100 times more painful than childbirth and I had no pain relief for that!

Liposuction

Cluster headaches. Called suicide headaches for a reason!

I've had a dislocated broken ankle (3 places) and also a tonsillectomy.
The tonsils were worse!

When my psoriatic arthritis first started. I just woke up one day and my foot was swollen and I couldn't walk for the pain. I thought I had broken my foot even though it was perfectly fine the night before. I had it in my jaw too and the pain radiated into my face, ear and teeth. Touch wood, I've never had a flare up that painful since. It lasted weeks at that pain level before it went down eventually to about 4/10. I never thought arthritis could be that painful, boy was I wrong. Been on methotrexate since and I am doing well on it.

Kidney stone. Way worse than childbirth for me.

augustusglupe · 06/10/2022 22:04

Childbirth with nothing. The gas and air made me feel sick but luckily DD flew out so terrible pain but not for long.
Dental abscess
Big tattoo lower back and yes I eventually regretted it. It's coming off next year!!

Neome · 06/10/2022 22:06

Meningitis
Gallstones (not at the same time fortunately)

Guiltycat · 06/10/2022 22:17

Took an arrow to the knee once.

Made me drop my sweetroll.

vipersnest1 · 06/10/2022 22:18

Number 1was a reaction to an antibiotic which made me shed the lining of my gut - the only time I really believed I would die.
2: piriformis syndrome (a sciatica-like condition). I couldn't even put weight on my leg for two days.
3: pain at night after tonsillectomy as an adult. So painful I couldn't swallow a tiny codeine tablet to help. I had to get a numbing spray so I could take pain relief.
After those come back pain, dental abscess, chronic sinus infection etc.

Runkle · 06/10/2022 22:25

SPD. Thankfully it was later in the pregnancy and thankfully there was a baby at the end of it to keep me going or I don't know how I could've done another day. It was torture.

Runkle · 06/10/2022 22:27

@vipersnest1 I've had hypertonic piriformis too. Agony.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 06/10/2022 22:29

Gallbladder infection, ive honestly never felt pain like it and never want to feel it again

ditalini · 06/10/2022 22:29

Kidney stone. It was very similar to advanced labour pain.

Marry me.

scunner · 07/10/2022 09:27

I had a piece of disc piercing the sciatic nerve and despite the strongest painkillers, nothing would ease the pain. I have had a full hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis and given birth twice. But the sciatic pain outdid them all.
I had to use my small savings pot to go private and have a discectomy.

Wherewassteve · 07/10/2022 11:40

Tooth abscess pain, made me want to rip my bloody head off.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 07/10/2022 16:40

Dislocated shoulder and waiting 12 hours for it to be put back in.

FindingMeno · 07/10/2022 20:06

The worst migraine I've ever had beat even raging toothache.

Violinist64 · 08/10/2022 00:27

Nugg · 04/10/2022 04:42

Kidney stones

And I've had 3 children and gallstones.

Kidney stones pain tops it all.

I could not agree more with kidney stones. Also kidney infections - excruciating. The other unforgettable pain for me was a burst abscess in my ear when I was thirteen. I, too, have had three difficult labours but those experiences top them all.

freyamay74 · 08/10/2022 08:37

Tearing as my baby came shooting out far too quickly. The first stage of the drug free labour had been long and painful but paled into insignificance compared to actually feeling my perineum tear... it was like someone aiming a blow torch at my vagina!

wisebear · 08/10/2022 11:34

My personal pain threshold is not good so for me firstly was childbirth - I’ve never experienced anything like it, I just couldn’t fathom the amount of pain I was in and felt quite traumatised by it - second was wisdom tooth, I had it extracted and got a awful infection and my face was the size of a balloon!! It was green which I thought was bruising but was actually the infection coming to the surface and I can honestly say it was excruciating
