May I?

OP posts:

See, that is quite fast (in my book anyway) could you slow right down, or would it just feel wrong?

popsycal · 05/09/2007 19:47

I know......this is the thing.
I felt like I was going really slow. I kept catching a glimpse of my shadow and I just looked like I was running in slow motion (I also thought my sports bra was really good and felt it was supportive - but my shadow suggested otherwise! That is a whole different thread though ).

Hmmm.

I can fit one more run in on Friday. I could go again tomorrow but I don't want to do 3 in a row - figured I ought not to run on Sunday.

Wallace · 05/09/2007 19:53

Sorry, but PMSL

A friend of mine had the same shock when she went running on a treadmill in a gym with mirrors

popsycal · 05/09/2007 19:57

You see, my boobs are not that huge by any standards. 34C. Pretty average. I always groan when I see women running with their norks flopping about everywhere and berate them (privately of course) for not getting themselves a decent sports bra.

Actually, thinking of my shadow. I looked like I was Michael Jackson doing the moon walk in the wrong direction. With flapping norks.

Getting the image?

Wallace · 05/09/2007 20:00

Remind me not to run on a sunny day

popsycal · 05/09/2007 20:03

Yes. I think that I may have lost my mind

Bubble bath calls!

popsycal · 05/09/2007 20:04

Just to add - where are PIdge and Glitterfairy. And Beety for thank matter?

popsycal · 05/09/2007 20:05

that matter

Wallace · 05/09/2007 20:06

Maybe everyone on holiday?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/09/2007 21:56

@ popsycal. Just don't emulate his surgery OK?!

I was asking after Glitterfairy on the bootcamp thread the other day. They've all been missing for weeeeeks.

My knees ache after this mornings run - hope it's temporary. And I have 38D norks which are rather prominent and I will now be forced to bandage them up a la Shakespeare in Love before I go running.

popsycal · 06/09/2007 16:04

Exciting - I have found local 5 and 10 k race next sunday attached to a local gym....

tempted to try the 5k .....

scattyspice · 06/09/2007 16:09

Whats the Alnwick race Popsycal? (I live in Newcastle).

Not that I'm contemplating any races at the mo LOL.

Still, managed to fit in 3 short runs this week so just need to keep it up.

popsycal · 06/09/2007 16:45

It is a 10k.

There is a 5 and 10k in south gosforth next weekend though,...

Veggiemummy · 06/09/2007 18:41

just rest from now until sunday as there is no time for improvement but plenty of time to rest. Plan to do the first 5km if you need a plan, but if it doesn't turn out that way oh well. Time it but dont have a set time you want to do it in.

carb up, not crap but good carbs pasta, rice etc, and eat well the night before and of course lots of vegies.

at worst it will be a training run. and don't worry about the other runners, if it worries you just put your ipod on, it may annoy some people but it's a long way you will need some music to help you along.

Veggiemummy · 06/09/2007 18:44

i ran to and from yoga today, only 1km each way, i really need to do something soon otherwise i will have to drop off this thread.

nappyneeds · 06/09/2007 21:13

arrrhh - i have all the motivation just havent started yet (doing the run walk thing as im a complete newbie atm)

how do YOU find the time?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 07/09/2007 11:54

Hi nappyneeds - my DH works from home and looks after DD2 while I run straight after the school run - as long as I'm not longer than half-hour and only do it a couple of times a week. Next week DD2 is at nursery so I have 2 free mornings for longer runs. And I usually run once over the weekend. The summer holiday was impossible - I did a few runs in the evening but it's not my best time of day!

I only did a 15min run this morning, about 1.5 miles, I still ache from Wednesdays run - it'll be nice to get back to regular running with no pain and no puffing!

scattyspice · 07/09/2007 18:36

Sadly I think I'm going to have to give up running again for a while as just sooo tired, am going to try and tackle DDs sleeping. Haven't slept properly for 4 yrs now.

Veggiemummy · 07/09/2007 19:46

oh Scatty, i thought 18months without proper sleep was bad you poor thing. Oh i'd love you to meet my sister in law, she was quite shocked and sure our son had sleep problems when he wasn't 'sleeping through the night' at 3 months!!!

DebitheScot · 07/09/2007 20:52

I did 4.9 miles today!!! I'm so pleased with myself! Took 55 minutes. And it was hot.
The most I'd done before that was 30 mins and I'd only done that twice in the last 10 days since I started again after sore calf.
I was running with 2 people from work and that made it so much easier. They are both better than me (not really faster, can just go further) and were really good at encouraging me near the end when I was starting to flag a bit. I walked twice for about 1 min each time.
Oooohh I'm so proud of myself! (Sad I know)

Veggiemummy · 07/09/2007 21:12

well done Deb, always good running with slightly stronger runners they make you work a little harder but also realise what you can do

DoubleBluff · 08/09/2007 09:29

Wel done Deb, good going.
I am getting v. nervous about my 10k tomorrow, have a bit of a niggle in my ankle.
Going to try and take it easy today (if only).
9.30am start so should be home about lunchtime will let you know how I got on!

Veggiemummy · 08/09/2007 15:54

Good Luck DB and also to Pops looking forward to hearing how you both go.

assodellaparete · 09/09/2007 07:17

Good luck DB!

And good luck pops, what did you decide?

Wallace · 09/09/2007 07:44

Sorry that was me in italian...
