Definitely a good call, Ned. You'll need time just to get used to being post treatment and just to recuperate properly. You can plan a fantastic Christmas, maybe? Smile

Giggling Roofer sounds v. annoying. Hope he's cheap. Smile

My parents are now officially driving me batty. This is the only day I don't do school pick up at 3.30, as ds has an after school club. I told them that before they came, last night, and this morning, but they've still come back 'in time to pick him up'. Have had to be a bit rude and tell them they'll have to entertain themselves. Mum has now brought me 3 separate cups of tea in half an hour...

On a lighter note, Sometimes am sure you're taller. I can tell. Grin

KurriKurri · 22/05/2012 16:39

yes Sometimes you are definitely taller Smile

Giggling Roofer has gone on his merry way. His verdict 'it's in a bad way' and he will send us a quote.

Smee - my Dad used to do the endless offering of cups of tea, much as you love someone, having to answer the same question over and over again and keep your patience is very hard work. Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/05/2012 17:05

poor smee - I'd be losing my patience too Sad
Definitely taller sometimes !
kk Grin @ giggly roofer.
And ned I think that's the best thing- the time off after treatment to recover and gather yourself -am sure you'll find something interesting to do !
Have just been into town to buy chocolate for choir picnic before the concert tomorrow- that's all the info I was given by ds- so have chosen kit kats. Also bought some prosecco & cake for my dad's birthday. Bloody hot out !

I think I need gin.. I had a work Sykpe call, so told mum we'd go to pick up DS as soon as I'd done. She set off without me and went to the wrong place, then completely freaked them out by saying she'd come to pick up DS and demanding to know where he was. She got even more confused, so told them they'd taken him swimming, though in a way I think that helped as they realised she was a bit not with it. Sad Still, all okay in the end and I suppose at least she can still get from A to B.

MAS, prosecco and cake sounds perfect. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/05/2012 18:10

oh lordy Shock gin definitely x

Hello ladies

Can i just get some quick advice and then will read back through posts?

I have 1st chemo and want to try cold cap in morning. i thought i could take some Ibroprophen about 45 mins before to help with headaches/pain then read in a leaflet that couldn't take asprin/ibroprophen as there may be excess bleeding. I obv know that is case with Asprin but didn't realise it with the other.

Can anyone advise?

topsy sorry you are having such a shit time of it, hope cleasrs up v quick for you. x

Gigondas · 22/05/2012 20:09

Yes ibuprofen can irritate lining of stomach. I thought paracetamol was ok.

Topsy- I hope you are able to watch Eurovision heats here. It's orange tastic loonery. Montenegro is doing a song based on monetary break dance Confused

KurriKurri · 22/05/2012 20:13

snoopy yes ibuprofen can make your stomach bleed, - It think paracetamol would be Ok, - but take some with you and check when you get there. You'll have time to ask someone and then take it before they put the cold cap on, because it takes time to set you up ready to have your chemo (getting the drugs sent up, flushing your vein etc.). Good luck, will be thinking of you xx

AutumnSummers · 22/05/2012 20:13

smee Gin is the way forward.

I got my wish about cutting a day out of the calendar. My appointment with cinsultant is on Thursday morning and not Friday morning! Strange that I shuold be glad about that! I just want it over with. I want good news.

My dad is till not doing good. He's being sent home from work every night with "funny turns."! He had a CT last ear that shoiwed burst blood vessels in his head due to drinking (Is that not a stroke?) and he's having these weird turns more and more. he gives off a starnge aura, a sick one. All the doc did today is order blood tests! even though they know his history. They should have sent him for another CT.

Good news. I had a lovely day with dh and the kids at a local fun day thing and got pics of all the kids at the wheel of a Fire Engine. They're all pooped in bed and I am now off to watch the VERY LAST episode of House!!!I need House. I've been saying it for ages!

AutumnSummers · 22/05/2012 20:14

snoopy sorry about the bleeding :(

AutumnSummers · 22/05/2012 20:14

Sorry for tpos. Keyboard needs a wash.

Gigondas · 22/05/2012 20:17

Autumn yes that is basically a stroke but I suppose if your dad still normal in other ways will ignore. Have they checked his liver function?

Will have fingers crossed for you on Thursday.

Snoopy hope all goes ok - it might not be as bad as you fear. Remember what everyone said about getting into the rhythm of it.

AutumnSummers · 22/05/2012 20:20

He has impaired short term memory and forgets an awful lot of things. He forgot his cousin's name the other day. All this stuff is making me wonder if he is having other strokes. But they'd need to bother looking inside his head to learn that. He's had a blood test at the hospital and one at the doctors. Both he and Mum say that his results are normal from the hospital but I don't know what they were looking for. I will ask what the doc is looking for when I next speak to them.

Gigondas · 22/05/2012 20:21

That does sound stroke like as my mil has had same issues since her stroke.

depends what they are testing for really doesnt it?

OneInEight · 23/05/2012 06:43

Snoopy, if you look on here before your treatment this morning I took paracetomol and it was fine. Make sure they fit the cap so it makes contact all over with your scalp to avoid any bald patches. I honestly didn't find the cap too bad so hope you get on well with it today. Goodluck.

Coffee on for any early wakers!

AutumnSummers · 23/05/2012 06:46

Welcome fluffy How are you today? How are ALL of you today? :)

Having a cuppa. I can't believe it's tomorrow they tell me what's happening. I want to get it iver with but I do not wantto go! Abivalent. More coffee required.

AutumnSummers · 23/05/2012 06:47

Just realised that Fluffy joined on page 1. Yep, more coffee DEFINATELY required!

snoopygirl · 23/05/2012 08:09

Hi ladies thanks for advice.

One What dosage did you take? I hate headaches more than anything else so want to be tanked up!

jchocchip · 23/05/2012 08:25

morning all just a quick check in. All the best to snoopy for today and hope topsy has the ooze under control now.

:( smee sounds like you have a lot to cope with this week. Hope the olds behave today.

Glad you have decided not to rush back to work, ned. You want to be fully recovered when you go back.

Did manage to get dd two outfits for prom from tkmax. One was reduced to £11, full length royal blue. The other is short and fitted with a lace up bodice with a sort of beaded overskirt. Stuck for shoes though. She lives her life in doc martens and converse and won't consider heels and I couldn't persuade her to sandals... died the top layer of her hair back to her natural brown last night, going to do the underneath blue or green tonight!

jchocchip · 23/05/2012 08:25

dyed!

graciesmall09 · 23/05/2012 08:35

Just a quick nip on to wish snoopy all the best for her first chemo. That will be one ticked off the list! I am counting mine down with a large red tick on the calendar.

smee hope you have a better day with your parents.

Autumn that must be so worrying for you all with your dad.

jchoc glad your daughter found a dress or two. Hope she has a fab time.

Ned Taking some extra time off is probably very wise. I'm actually enjoying being off work and can usually manage to put my day in quite productively. A long standing back problem I have is so much better when I'm not sitting at a desk all day and I feel a lot less stressed.

Waves to everyone else. Hope you are on the mend topsy and will hopefully be packing your bag to come home. gigs how many more rads do you have?

NedSchneebly · 23/05/2012 08:47

take it easy, my love x x

Doing OK here - not too achy although I don't start the injections until tomorrow, and that's when it all went wrong last time. Fingers crossed, eh?!

Need to put the bins out so will pop back later for a Brew and a proper catch up. Hugs to all x x
