OP posts:
topsyturner · 18/04/2012 22:16

No news from gracie ?
Hope all is ok .

Hope your mum is ok jane , and that they let her out soon .

ILGC that's bloody fantastic news !
How are you doing these days ?

Had a busy day today . Did lots of housework and went for a nice walk .
Been keeping myself occupied as I have my next ct scan next week on Thursday , and results appointment the Monday after . Am getting quite nervous about this one as the lung nodules had grown slightly after the last one . And I think there will be more growth this time , and will have to have more treatment .

Oh and somehow our tv licence managed to lapse . We have paid it by quarterly direct debit for the 15 years we have lived in this house , and I didn't notice that the last direct debit didn't go out of my account . So we got a knock on the door this evening from a man , who was actually very nice about it . And we had to re set the direct debit !
Oh the shame GrinBlush

topsyturner · 18/04/2012 22:18

On my phone smee so I can't see your photos . But as soon as DS has left for school tomorrow I shall take my life in my hands and venture into his botulism ridden bedroom and retrieve the laptop !

jchocchip · 18/04/2012 22:36

Yes Mum treads a fine line between too much pain or hallucinating from the pain meds. Hope they can sort her out for a bit. Will go down to see her after work on Friday.

Can see why u would want to keep busy Topsy, waiting for results is the worst. :( Eat plenty of fbs and try the c25k again... maybe. :) about the tv licence. We didn't have a tv for a few years and trying to convince THEM of that is waring.

Photos great smee :) back to the grind :(

Working too hard at the mo getting ready for my holiday. Strops worked on dh to some extent as he bought a feather duster today and dusted the cobwebs away :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2012 22:57

poor mum jane
kk your MIL sounded completely loopy ! Oh God, I hope I'm a nice MIL when it's my turn.
smee I like the idea of being Queen of the thread Grin
Went to the NY meeting,my head is spinning a bit- their itinerary is really packed with lots of sightseeing and concerts include the Julliard Centre and the UN Building- they're eating out at fab places too. I am hoping that ds can be trusted not to lose his money, travel ticket things etc- also realise we may need to buy him a new watch/phone.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 19/04/2012 08:42

Bows to queen mas. Does ds just need a phone that is suitable for the states?

topsy hand holds and will sit on box with you as my ct scan next week too. Sending good vibes to you my love.

Ought to check our tv licence situation as can see how easy it is to miss dd not being updated. And google is a most excellent professor Wink

Dietician appt this morning then my mum is coming over to take big gig out to pottery cafe. She wants to make jubilee celebration mugs (her and step dad are doing stuff to do with this river pageant so she is really into it, me not so much).

Anyone want to bet me a dairy milk I won't get my rads schedules today Angry?

Still better than some of the poor people on here who haven't got primary school places - there are loads of shortages in this area

Gigondas · 19/04/2012 08:43

gracie am thinking of you

topsyturner · 19/04/2012 08:50

Wow , the New York trip for the boy sounds fabulous mas , maybe hand all valuables to the teacher for safe keeping ?

Gig I hope the dietician explains the medical necessity of fbs to you ...

My mother in law is lovely , never had a problem with her .
My father in law on the other hand can be a grumpy basket !
When we got engaged his reaction was "oh" . And then he immediately left the room Hmm

Plans for today involve scrutinising my bank statements to see if there are any other bills left unpaid Blush
And then maybe a little left over lasagne eating and a little paranoia box sitting .

Btw , DD has 1/2 a bag of mini twirls in the kitchen ... Grin

topsyturner · 19/04/2012 08:51

Still no news from gracie ? Hope she's not feeling too wiped out .

smee · 19/04/2012 10:19

Jane, your poor mum. Hope they can make her a bit more comfortable. Sad

Gig, dietician sounds good. I'll bet you a Dairy Milk. Are we talking big bar?! Grin

MAS, how exciting NY sounds. I want to be your DS..! Gig's right, you have to watch it with phones, as some don't work in the US. Mine did, but DH's didn't. Not at all sure why. Confused

Topsy, you're bound to be worried, but keep busy and keep talking to us too. That is why we're here you know. Am betting mini-Topsy's twirls don't last the morning. Grin

Gracie, are you out there? Hope you're ok xx

topsyturner · 19/04/2012 10:23

Smee the mini twirls are bizarrely vanishing .
I don't know what has happened to them .
All I know is the bag was sitting beside me on the sofa , all full and inviting , and suddenly it was nothing but an empty vessel ...

smee · 19/04/2012 10:26

I win..! Stuff the wrapping in Pigdog's collar so DD blames him. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/04/2012 11:07

oh poor pig-dog Grin
The phone needs to be tri-band or somesuch- his is a basic thing-will have to check. They all have to be responsible for their own valuables but each room has a little combination safe - they suggest putting each days money (for tips/lunches/shopping) in separate envelopes-and to give the teachers an envelope with emergency money in case they lose their travel card or something. Ds is very unworldly in some things, like money.

OP posts:
smee · 19/04/2012 11:14

Envelope idea sounds sensible. You might be able to just buy him a sim card, MAS. Have a look on Amazon maybe?

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 13:04

When were you at Pembrooke Gig, I had a good friend who studied maths at Pembrooke in the early 1990's. I was there from 1990 - 1994....ah the carefree days of youth. Dh is there right now at Downing at a research and development conference, so we were reminising last night, when he was walking round all the old haunts.

Gigondas · 19/04/2012 13:22

I might have an old one that is tri band if any use mas. I will check but just sat on my dresser doing nothing.

topsy bad pig dog Grin

smee go on then (knowing that I will lose ).

Dietician surprisingly sympathetic - is not a whole food only type. Had some
Other good coping strategies as seen loads of cancer patients in her time. I really liked her "uniform" idea ie you have something you wear to rads/hospital then take off so can leave it behind.

sparkle was there 91-94 so same sort of time (did history tho).

Won't bore you but more nanny issues potentially (basically ignoring what we discussed re her back and doing it behind my back Hmm). I know dh would sack her tomorrow but cant face upheavals and she is good in many ways. But am sort of getting blinded to that.

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 13:32

Gig, it is an empoyers market, if she is not doing what you want and what you have asked for, that causes you more stress, you could find someone much better.....just a thought, don't want to rock the boat.

I don't know anyone who did history....I did Geography, I had a lot of friends who were Nat Sci's, maths, medicine and vets....All scattered to the four winds now, except a couple....who are dearly close and godparents to my dc.

Got to take lovely Nikki dog to the vets in a few mins. She lost her sight a few years ago, then she developed cataracts (sp?) now she has a nasty eye inflamation which has given her glaucoma, and the treatment has given her ulcers on the eye....she will almost certainly have to have her eye out...which although a horrid operation, will be better for her as she can't see anything out of either eye anyway. She still manages to find any biscuits the kids put down for a millisecond, and my lap in the evening to try and climb on to.....she is a 24kg chocolate lab Grin Bill stands at 250 so far...thank you pet plan.....Grin

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 13:33

heh Gig we probably even graduated the same day....how about that.

Gigondas · 19/04/2012 13:38

Smile we probably did old gits that we are.

You have a point re nanny. This is just latest in a few things but the bottom line is she ain't that bright and doesn't listen which means it can be difficult to get through to her. I shouldnt have to get dh to do his alan sugar bit on her to get point across.

Also I am trying hard not to be petty and know having me at home can't be easy but I didn't have to keep her on . You can see how I go round in circles with what to do for best...

Gigondas · 19/04/2012 13:39

Poor nikki- but our old dog was deaf and had cataracts but managed to have a nice life and strangely never missed out on any snacks either Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/04/2012 13:48

oh poor NikkiSad
and am sorry to hear about continuing nanny problems gig . The offer of the phone is very kind- I might well take you up on it- or do the sim card thing...I have an old phone too, which might be ok come to think of it.
sparkle and gig must both be brainy sorts !

OP posts:
Gigondas · 19/04/2012 13:49

Grin At being brainy- not quite sure how I managed it. Brain full of shit these days

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 16:45

Brain...what brain, mine is mush nowadays!

Nikki has to go and have her eye removed tomorrow..the pressure has gone up from 55 to 68 in a week, whilst having the pressure reducing drops...danger or eye rupturing now sorry tmi. Going to be a difficult week, but she will be much better without it......If anyone didn't realise, Nikki is one of my labs...not a dc....or MIL...(Hmm now theres a thought! Wink

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 16:47

Am putting Brew on, and a nice mum at dc school has just given me home made chocloate brownies in exchange for the eggs I gave her this morning...isn't that kind. Have put some of the fbs trolley.....of course!

SparkleRainbow · 19/04/2012 16:47

chocloate....told you my brain was mush!

NedSchneebly · 19/04/2012 17:23

Sorry about Nikki dog sparkle. Blinding Mil interesting plan, and surely entirely justified? I would happily help, given her horribleness. . .

I am clever by marriage. . .DH read history at Corpus Christi.

My mouth is rotting again, although Difflam is my new best friend.

Have tasty cheese straws if anyone fancies one? Will put some on the trolley.

On phone cos internet down. Will post before this disappears into the ether. Will post more later.
