here we are- how did that happen ?

Snap, Amber. Mine is as curly as a curly thing. Smile People ask me if it's a wig and I reply "do you honestly think I'd buy a wig like this?" Grin Grin Everyone likes it though so might stick with it short. It's so nice to feel the wind blowing through it and, of course, I'm grateful to have anything, after having nothing at all and being as bald as a coot. Smile

Glad your shopping trip was a success. I bulk buy my bloomers big nicks from M&S once a year. Blush

Gig, I met a lady the other day who swore by emu oil. She can only get it online but wouldn't be without it and her scar is fading at an enormous rate. I didn't ask to see though - that would have been a step too far. Smile

Gigondas · 17/03/2012 18:27

Emu oil- will google. And hope no one asks to see my scar Wink

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2012 18:40

Sorry not up to date, just wanted to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my lovely friends, in case I do not get on tomorrow. Thanks Smile Wine and lots and lots of love to you very special ladies.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2012 19:28

smee · 17/03/2012 19:37

Ooh yes please, MAS. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2012 19:58

OP posts:
amberlight · 17/03/2012 20:06

They had three for £10 in M&S - lacy silky ones - yay! Got black, pink and sort of teal blue. Just needed cheering up with the week ahead.
Glass of Wine would be lovely, thanks.

Can I ask a silly question please? 6 mths surgeon's checkup this week. What happens? They've not told me. Any ideas, anyone? (lumpectomy).

topsyturner · 17/03/2012 20:10

Sniggering at the thought of Oil of Emu Grin

DH is watching a recorded Ireland/England rugby match . I fear it isn't going to end well for him ...

Positive thoughts going out to the young footballer who collapsed and stopped breathing during a match .
+++ Fabrice Muamba .

Got new glasses for DS today , he looks very smart and grown up in them .
Then we went to the bookshop and the DCs both got new books .
Then DD managed to con her daddy into buying her a new hoodie and a pair of shorts . Apparently shorts and thick tights are de riguer at the minute Grin
What do I know eh ?

topsyturner · 17/03/2012 20:11

Wine and crisps ?
Yes please !

Gigondas · 17/03/2012 20:16

Ohh amber I did knicker buying too- alluring high ones that cover scars.

Topsy- Sad re muamba but seen on twitter that is stable so hope that is a good sign. And hope England keep Lancaster as coach -dh and dad were happy post match.

Crisps and wine for me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2012 22:42

poor man Sad
amber they will usually just ask you how it's going/tamoxiofen etc and examine you - very straightforward.
This tights and shorts malarky makes me laugh as I was wearing such things at art school manyyearsago My friends dds wear them- looks v nice on young limbs Grin
Am thinking I might get some new Converses - have an urge, am very naughty if I do as I seem to just be spending money willy nilly-sigh.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 18/03/2012 08:14

Happy Mothers Day !
Hope you are all being spoilt .
My DC are still in bed . DH is up though and has made me a coffee and is allowing me to watch a program on Vietnam with him ... Grin

Mas buy the shoes

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/03/2012 09:25

well,I'm a banana - I've put a bid on ebay for some brand new converses, but mistook black for navy- however that's not really too bad ! I had blue on my mind but neglected to check the colour exactly of these-still if I get them it'll be a teeny bit cheaper and they'll be fine I'm sure.

Happy Mother's day everyone - have made my own coffee and breakfast !
Anxiety dream last night and my tooth is still horribly sensitive which is very boring and annoying.

OP posts:
Figgyroll · 18/03/2012 10:37

Morning all and wishing everyone a very Happy Mothering Sunday. Smile

Amber, my 6 monthly check up consisted of a meeting with the surgeon where he went over my results with me, examined me and asked me if everything was okay.

MAS, definitely buy the Converses. Are they high tops or the sneaker-type? DS1 has several pairs but has one pair, hightops, but with double laces and they take him forever to do up. He has to allow at least an extra 15 minutes to get ready. Smile I'm sure there's not too much difference between the navy and the black. I'd love a red pair. Eek about the tooth!!! Lay off the toffees today.

Topsy, I bet the Vietnam programme is rivetting?

Well, I have been treated to flowers and a lovely Scrabble mug from DS2. DS1 hasn't surfaced yet. DH and I were going out for a cooked breakfast but he's woken with the aches, a sore throat and a cough so I might send him back to bed.

Lots of Brew and bagels and toast for anyone a bit peckish.

topsyturner · 18/03/2012 11:09

Just wanted to add a little story to make you laff .

DS proudly presented me with a carefully wrapped gift this morning . His form tutor was selling mothers day gifts (proceeds going to house charity) and he bought me a lovely mug/choccie combo .
I duly admired said pressie , but as he walked away he said "Oh , by the way , you owe Miss Scally £4.50" !!!!!

It's a good job I love the little sod Grin

Figgyroll · 18/03/2012 11:52

Your lad'll go far, Topsy. Grin Tell him you'll deduct it from his pocket money.

NedSchneebly · 18/03/2012 11:53

Arf Grin at master topsy ! Only a mother's love! I got a lovely hand made card that DS made at school, scented candle for my bathroom (in my favourite colour) a lie in and church flowers.

MAS I have my eye on some navy flowery Cath Kidston canvas converse types. May have to treat myself, on the excuse that they will cover more of my feet than flipflops and thus protect my toe nails from falling off when I start on the Docetaxol. . . Wink

Flowers to all of you lovely ladies out there x x x

NedSchneebly · 18/03/2012 11:54

OK, that last bit should have been Thanks to all you lovely ladies - did linky bit wrong! Blush

KurriKurri · 18/03/2012 12:23

Thanks to everyone on here for Mother's Day - hope you are all taking it easy and being spoilt. Smile

I'm liking Master topsy's style Grin My DS always used to have a rant about how Mother's day was invented by card companies to make money, and he wasn't buying into it, and he wouldn't conform but would treat me at other times (which to be fair he often did), but for the last two years (I suspect under the influence of his fiancee Grin) I have received a card and a pressie Grin - I love that girl Grin

MAS - hope the converse are great, I think black will look good too. I've never had any, although when I was at uni. the fashion was for what we called Basie Boots (as in baseball) and they were very similar - I had some of those. I have done the shorts and tights combo too Grin (back in the day when I had a reasonable set of pins)

Hello Figgy - always nice to see you Smile - regarding the curly hair - I have a couple of friends who's hair came back in very tight curls, but after approx. 18mnths, it is returning to how it was before chemo.
I was curly before chemo, and it has come back as some kind of thick fluff which will only grow vertically, so I look like Stan Laurel. Confused

Ned - my DIL to be has flowery converse type boots, they are very cool Smile Aww to little Ned and his card - bless him Smile

smee · 18/03/2012 12:27

Grin at Topsy's boy. He'll go far that one. My DS has eaten more of the chocolates he bought for me than I have. He also chose white chocolate as it's his favourite. Still nice though. Smile

MAS I am a converse girl too. You can never have too many pairs. I have blue and black ones, but they're looking a bit tatty.

Amber, 6 month check was straightforward for me too - simple physical prod around and then asking how you are.

Ned, my toenails weren't too bad, so you might be lucky. Smile

DH taking DS out for an hour or so as I have a work deadline. Huge pot of coffee on the go for anyone who wants some. Smile

smee · 18/03/2012 12:29

x-posted Kurri, waves a hello.

Figgy and Amber on curls - me too - mine looked like a dodgy perm. Now only the very ends are curly (so looks like dodgy perm growing out.. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 18/03/2012 13:40

Despite fact I reminded dh on friday that is was mothers day (and his answer was oh mustn't foget to ring my mum then Hmm) he has forgotten to do anything with the children. I reminded children, so they didn't remember later, and I told them, me taking them swimming was my best mothers day treat anyway...which it was cos there was LITERALLY no-one else in the entire swimming pool, we had the whole place to ourselves...no fear dc made enough noise to fill the place, and we stayed until dd2 went various shades of blue/purple.
Am now going to play on the wii with them, for 20 mins before dh comes in to watch the Grand prix highlights.

The sun is shining and that has to be enough somedays...thankfully today it is! Grin
Hope you are all having a lovely day.

smee · 18/03/2012 13:49

Aw Sparkle - men are useless sometimes. I had to e-mail my BF other half to remind him - they have a new born and he so didn't get why it was important.

Enjoy Grand Prix. Smile

amberlight · 18/03/2012 15:10

Been for lunch with DS and family...lovely.

Can feel hard bit in Biscuit. Trying to convince myself it's scar tissue from the lumpectomy but I'm not doing a very good job of it. Wish there was decent info out there on odds of recurrence after complete clinical response, this soon, but there aren't.

smee · 18/03/2012 15:53

Amber, stop it. It's scar tissue. I have lots of it - some women scar more than others. Sooner you get through your consult the better. IT WILL BE ALRIGHT.
