here we go !

Yikes! Shock

There is, indeed, a lot to be said for being an old bag, as I am these days. No-one has the hots for a dumpy 49 year old with a lopsided chest and a huge muffin-top, it must be said. Or at least, if they do, they are keeping it well hidden.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/10/2011 14:38

honestly, you aren't old and withered !! Gah !
sparkle- yes,I will go - was reminded by the posters in the surgery today - I would only have myself to blame if I got flu. I just don't want to run into any nurses !

not having a good day a stupid woman upset me at the hospital not sure who she was but is in my oncs team, she took one look at me and told me i looked pale and washed out then questioned me about if i was eating and looking after myself properly.told her i was but just getting over a cold and cough.

it got worse when i told her my gp had asked me to ask them to respond to his letters and emails so he can have shared care for my heparin injections, she got right shirty blaming my gps filing system.

then got even worse when she started looking through my file to respond to my gp she said to me i can see you have a big long list of side effects i dont think your handling things very well you need to see a councilor. when i asked are you saying its all in my mind she had the cheek to say "yes is there anything right with you, your suffering with things that are just day to day stuff to everyone else and they dont make a big deal of it" she made me feel like crap so i guess its pretty normal for most folk to suffer ibs symptoms(which is making me lose weight because everything just goes through me) piles, blood clots, bone aches, cording, not being able to straighten my arm, acid and now lymphedema.

didnt get to see my onc but a doctor instead who said will just keep an eye on my hand while im having rads as the swelling has gone down overnight and now just covering my knuckles.picked up on my cough straight the way and prescribed anti biotics and instisted i had my blood taken incase my bloods are down.

i hope i dont have to see that bloody woman again grrr

cakesandale · 12/10/2011 15:05

I think I might consider a formal complaint TBH. Talk about hitting someone when they are down. Angry

Of course cording, coughs, lymphoedema etc aren't in your head, or just an everyday inconvenience.

At the very least get her name, and ask for it to be put on your records that you don't want to see her.

I am really sorry about all this Pink. Try not to let her spoil any more of your day. x

pinkstarlight · 12/10/2011 15:11

cakes..its just one of those days came out stood at the bus stop my bus drives straight past without stopping and has the nerve to wave to me. dreading the kids coming home lol

KurriKurri · 12/10/2011 15:17

She sounds vile Pink, what absolute nonsense that its in your mind, clearly she's never had any chemo SE's.

I would also be inclined to complain, - they ought to know (and most do) that you shouldn't speak t people like that.

When I had a nurse say something horrid to me during treatment, I phoned my breast care nurse, who was very sympathetic, and a word was had in the appropriate ear. I never had the nasty nurse again. - So that might be worth ago.

But Cakes is right, don't let one nasty woman upset you, - she's the one with a problem - she's not good at her job!

Have a Brew

janechocchip · 12/10/2011 15:33

oh Pink :( Hope you have a better evening.
Cat still missing. dd2 just asked if the microchip could be traced. Don't think they can transmit position, sadly...

janechocchip · 12/10/2011 15:35

time for a swim and then the mad cat lady act again

pinkstarlight · 12/10/2011 16:09

thats the thing i know its not in my mind nor in anyone elses who suffer side effects must admit her attitude shocked me,a doctor would never talk to me like that.

ds has come back dropped a can of pop all over the kitchen floor decides to pump his bike tire up and then the pump broke so now hes in a bad mood and of course its my fault seems to think i knew it had broke.

feel alot better after having a good moan to my mum.

pinkstarlight · 12/10/2011 16:13

jane...oh dear has your cat gone missing before?a friend of mines cat goes all wild every summer disapearing for days on end or sleeping in the shed only occasionally coming in for a quick bite to eat yet soon as it turns cold turns in a loving sweet fire cat.

topsyturner · 12/10/2011 17:04

pink - I am soooo angry on your behalf ! What a cow ? Was she a doc or a nurse or what ? How dare she tell you your side effects are in your mind . I will hunt her down , pump her full of fecking poison , and see how the hell she feels ! Angry Angry Angry

jane - are you worried about your cat ? Is she/he normally a wanderer ?

I am doing takeaway for tea tonight . Can't be arsed to cook . I would prob blow summat up as so far today I have broken my kettle , and snapped in half the salad drawer in my fridge .
So it's kettle shopping and takeaway buying this evening . Dunno what I fancy though . What would you have if you could have any takeaway you wanted ?

KurriKurri · 12/10/2011 17:09

topsy I'm very boring and always choose fish and chips as my favourite. But second to that I'd probably go for Indian (is your stomach up to spicy food atm?)

I broke the glass shelf above my salad drawer ages ago, - it's never been replaced, just sits there with a big chunk off the corner Blush I'm lucky it wasn't the fatty snack shelf that broke Grin

DeeScent · 12/10/2011 17:15

Pink - what a horrible day. I've just come home from my pre-op thinking how lovely all the staff I've met so far have been. Sorry you've had this. It makes such a difference to have a smile and a kind word, and the opposite just hits you hard when you're feeling vulnerable. Hope she has an attack of conscience.

I seem to be in the middle of a VERY efficient breast cancer treatment system. Sad that it's a well-oiled machine becasue so many women suffer from it.

Off to cook fish fingers and chips, with lashings of tartare sauce.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/10/2011 17:52

oh pink- rotten woman-some people absolutely lack interpersonal skills..virtual hug coming your way...
I hope cat does come back jane- how worrying- I am always relieved when Celeste eventually comes in after her evening walkabout.
topsy- I'd choose fish and chips like KK or Chinese food Grin

OP posts:
janechocchip · 12/10/2011 18:02

If I'm not up to Indian, we have a nice chinese around the corner.Chicken with cashew nuts with rice:)

Cat never gone missing before. he is a rescue boy not yet a year old. We got him in April and he has always come in for his tea and stays in overnight. He is not very streetwise but holds his own with the neighbouring cats. He really didn't like the wet weather and had been spending a lot more time inside. If he has gone over the back wall ans across the park he could roam for miles. Still thinking he will turn up home on his own. He is microchipped so should hear if he is handed in at a vet. We are missing him especially his early morning alarm calls and i so liked stroking him of an evening :-(

Glad your preop was ok Dee. All the doctors I've met have been lovely.

knock on door. Guy next door but 3 'is your cat still missing? There is a horrible smell in my garage...We will come and look we say. Cat walks along path and in through cat flap !!! Hooray :) :-)

KurriKurri · 12/10/2011 18:09

Hooray - the prodigal cat returns, bet he's hungry Grin

pinkstarlight · 12/10/2011 18:14

topsy...feel free to do that lol.

im not sure who she was she had a different uniform on,it was one of my rads reviews today so who ever normally deals with that. when i go in tomorrow will look who she is as all the staff in radiotheraphy are named, job title and pictures on the wall.

have to say everyone on the chemo unit, doctors and the surgeon have all been brilliant really looked after me.but must admit when i had my op was pretty shocked at some of the nurses everyone was complaining about them, found myself looking after an old lady because whenever she buzzed to go to the toilet or needing help to get into bed they kept saying will be back in a moment then ignored her.another old lady who had just had an op they yanked her out of bed even though she said she wasnt ready poor lady sobbed no kind words or anything.the breast care nurse on the ward kept telling me my massive swelling was normal the surgeon was furious and in his words far from normal anyone can see that you have a huge seroma.then when one of my drains fell out the nurse didnt take the stitch out they attached the sticky tape of the other drain over the hanging stitch then after ignoring my something isnt right im in so much pain a few times they realised what had happened then the nurse said who on earth left your stitch in and im thinking errr actually it was you.

rant over sorry got my moaning head on just ignore me lol

pinkstarlight · 12/10/2011 18:17

oooh jane your cats come back brilliant,if only cats could talk bet they would have some intresting tales to tell about what they have been up to.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/10/2011 18:23

hooray for safe return of cat !!

OP posts:
cakesandale · 12/10/2011 18:33

Hooray for the cat's safe return!

Pink - your lot sound absolutely crap. Dee - I am glad yours sound much better. They are frighteningly efficient, I find, I suppose it's all the practice they get Sad

DeeScent · 12/10/2011 18:40

Pink that sounds truly awful. Perhaps once you've finished your treatment you can go through the channels and stir things up a bit with a complaint, if you have the will and strength to.

Particularly Angry at treatment of the old ladies. Here's hoping you have no more hassles.

forpitysake · 12/10/2011 19:39

pink that must have been horrible for you! how dare she?
definetly what topsy said!
I bet she'd have a nicer tongue in her head after experiencing what you have.
I'm sure most people in that line of work are very aware that even if they are having a bad day, they know some-one else is having a worse one every day .
A bit of understanding wouldn't go amiss, would it?
She could have asked the same questions but differently, I'm sure!

Glad the cat is back safe and sound jane

janechocchip · 12/10/2011 20:54

Andi had such a quiet voice on Sunday. He has come back with a really loud meow... Poor thing he must have been practicing. Very hungry. Had a big bowl of tinned cat food, some crunchies and half a tin of sardines in tomato sauce for a treat... :)

topsyturner · 12/10/2011 21:33

Yippee the cat is back ! His name is Andi ? So is mine , see I knew I was half cat Grin
I was about to suggest asking your neighbours to check their sheds and garages .

Had Indian , chicken byriani . Yum diddly yum .
Was going to have a glass of wine this evening , but time has got away from me again .
Productive day today though . Spent the afternoon paying bills and sourcing lower house insurance . Little tip for you all . When you get the automatic renewal notice in the post , and it says you don't have to do anything as it will just renew automatically . Phone them up and cancel , then redo your policy online (with the same darn company !). It automatically cuts 1/3 off your bill !
I have done this with car , house and pet insurance this year . Loads of pennies saved .

Just finishing watching Who Do You Think You Are with Tracey Emin . She's actually quite a compassionate soul , not the person the media have led me to believe she was .

I go for my final diagnosis tomorrow morning, after a biopsy etc of two weeks ago. I was sign posted to this thread by kind others. I am terrified, rabbit in the headlights. I even enquired as to whether I could just get the result over the phone a stupid low moment I know there is more to it than that. When I had the recall 2 weeks ago which led to ultrasound, biopsy, the Consultant said 75% positive. Have to travel a 3-4 round trip for each appointment.
