Rhubarb - I've never parped before.... It was supposed be sarcastic!

SoupDragon · 28/11/2005 13:03

HappyMumof2, if you can't be bothered to post again then don't!

crunchie · 28/11/2005 13:04

Happymumof 2 it is fine to say it is outdated and unnecessary. It was just the personal attacks that were hard (on both sides Sackache)

crunchie · 28/11/2005 13:06

Sackache OMG perhaps we do agree then

crunchie · 28/11/2005 13:07

Cliff I tried to parp myself and Sackache, as last time we both got very upset about this thread. However we have managed to post without being personal, that's all I care about

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 28/11/2005 13:10

Ok. I'm sitting on the fence with this one. I can see both sides. Although I do worry more about 'real' child abuse, so this kind of thing doesn't figure much in my worry list!

Will have to have a word with my bro about it all!

spidermama · 28/11/2005 13:12

I missed the last infamous thread on this. Any chance of a link?

I'm pretty liberal about most things and I really try to understand the POVs of others, but I don't get this. How could any mum ...?
As ever though I am willing to read up on other peoples' convictions to see if I can sympathise or understand better.

As a mum of three boys I just can't help but feel real, gut horror and amazement that the practise is allowed and considered perfectly respectable in this day and age.

I'm not going to rant further but I have to admit to feeling duty-bound to speak out because I feel very strongly that this is an issue which shouldn't go unchallenged.

SackAche · 28/11/2005 13:17

Spidermama - It was years ago! Well before I was hammered down by the MN masses.... and started biting my tongue! Sad really, but there you go. I have much stronger feelings about it than I will post here.... but I will settle for emphasising ANAESTHETIC!!!!!! Make me feel sick.

Nightynight · 28/11/2005 13:18

softmusk,
my 2 ds's were done when they were about 3 or 4 years old. This is normal in dx's country, where circumcision is not done on tiny babies.

Nightynight · 28/11/2005 13:19

They didnt have any aneasthetic either, this is normal.

spidermama · 28/11/2005 13:20

You're scaring me SackAche. I think I best let this lie as I fear the MN hammer.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 28/11/2005 13:20

Do you have a hard hat Nightynight! You might need one!

Nightynight · 28/11/2005 13:22

cliff, I am just telling the truth. People who havent experienced circumcision for themselves have many ideas about it, but the fact is, its been done for years on boys in dx's country, with no anaesthetic. (dx says it stung for a moment, and he cursed the doctor he was 4 years old!)

SackAche · 28/11/2005 13:31

Nightynight - I just don't see the "but he's ALWAYS been done like that" as a good argument for continuing to do it like that.

at a 4yr old getting it done with no anaesthetic!! My ds is 4... oh god thats awful.

lol Spidermama.

crunchie · 28/11/2005 13:31

Here was the original thread.

here

SackAche · 28/11/2005 13:32

Nightynight - Why is it not done on tiny babies in that country?

SackAche · 28/11/2005 13:33

Jeeesssussss Crunchie! What d'you that for?

tissy · 28/11/2005 13:37

I know I know.... but every other issue gets done to death on MN on monthly cycles.... why should this subject be any different!

Anybody want to start an Abortion thread????

HappyMumof2 - steady on!

Twiglett · 28/11/2005 14:22
