Would this be such a bad idea? I hate labour and tories. But I don't know enough about Reform.

Never going to vote Reform. However, I think will they will be popular; maybe engaging 20 percent of voters. This will be very divisive, it will be worse than Brexit.

Labour are going to have to fight them; the Conservatives will be finished. But sod Farage, whipping up people with cheap slogans and deciding who is a patriot. I’m sure it’s his dream to decide that, but no way. That is just nationalism with a good dollop of “you don’t belong here”.

Who gives a shit if Reform are a ltd company. People keep going on about it as if it matters.

Sunak was made leader of the Conservatives without a vote by the membership.

The only vote that matters is the General Election.

Edited

"Sunak was made leader of the Conservatives without a vote by the membership."

Your "membership," Bud resulted in a totally incapable Truss taking control for a couple of weeks and hitting the country for billions of pounds. The whole of England is still suffering and will suffer for years because she and she alone is responsible for the hyperinflation and hyper interest rates that have totally f's up tens of millions of people in England

Thank God the "membership" did not get another vote as they could not organise a p up in a brewery!!!

Let me know how calling people stupid works out for you - great job Re:Brexit for a start.

And how has that worked out for them? All of their "outrage" at being called stupid has seen them absolutely stuffed!

That's why I've given up giving a shit about the feelings of people who are too stupid to see what's in front of their face, and who don't give a shit about my feelings. Because when I was trying to pander to their feelz, I was being insulted by them.

So, frankly, they can fuck off, and vote for themselves to be vassals if that makes them happy...

Free movement was a massive net benefit for our economy, not to mention the NHS and care homes. This type of nonsense is what we expect from liars like Boris and Farage...

You really need to take a look at output per hour worked - it has steadily fallen still 1997. Successive governments have turned a blind eye to immigration as it boosts GDP, a key economic indicator used by the markets. But anyone who think immigration has "been good for the economy' needs to rethink. People in the UK feel poorer because they are poorer - there is less to go around per person.

We simply cannot afford to pay people already here to stay at home while others come in to undertake semi-skilled work. The country cannot afford it. People seem to have no clue about the amount of debt the country is in - we cannot tax our way out as, it is not "the rich", whomever they are anyway, who will leave, but the working middle classes - and they already are, judging by several posts on here - mass exodus underway.

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 20:10

Well, this government is reckoned to have "lost" over £700 billion of our money, mainly to their friends and donors.

Do you not think that that money could have improved things, maybe just a tiny bit?

ThisOldThang · 04/06/2024 20:11

I know it's popular to blame Truss, but the problem was actually the Bank of England rules for pension funds which forced them to hold uk government debt. Truss's budget created an artificial negative feedback loop in UK government debt. The pension funds were forced by the rules to sell as the price dropped. The further it dropped, the more they had to sell, but it was them selling that was causing the price to fall. That was 'fixed' by the Bank of England printing money to buy the debt and stabilising the market.

Now... Truss should have done her homework and realised that the Bank of England had created a ticking time bomb in the UK pension sector, but I don't think anybody realised it existed until things went sideways.

At least she had a plan for growth. We're now stuck on a slow motion conveyor belt to national bankruptcy and nobody wants to talk about it.

🤷‍♀️

As was once said about Ukip:
Not everyone who votes for Reform will be a racist but all racists will vote for them.
I am still reeling from their proposed floating wall in the channel to stop asylum seekers and immigrants. They stated that it would be designed without handholds so nobody could cling to it and that anyone in the sea at risk of drowning on the french side would be the responsibility of the french to rescue so presumably the staff would stand and watch people drown as part of their job.

Yes well that’s the kind top end thinking that really shows Reform are shaking things up

What a load of drivel as if there are no racist Tory or Labour voters.

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 20:34

No, get it right, Labour are anti-Semitic.

Tories blatantly are racist though...

ThisOldThang · 04/06/2024 20:39

I'm not a Tory voter, but to claim that the party of Sunak, Braverman, Patel and Badenoch is racist is just ridiculous.

Somebody else posted about how racists would be saying to their neighbours 'but not you.', but here we have the enlightened anti-racists that refuse to acknowledge the most ethnically diverse government in British history (possibly world history).

bombastix · 04/06/2024 20:46

They are also one of the most unpopular and incompetent governments of recent times. I do not think the diversity of their ethnic really offsets that. They are dire. And they are about to be destroyed by an old white Dulwich public school boy. Quite the failure.

bombastix · 04/06/2024 20:47

Ethnicity! Sorry for that

For me it’s a big fat YES with louder bells on

Excellent. How lucky are we to live in a democracy? Not so many left. I completely disagree with you. But that’s fine.

Shakeoffyourchains · 04/06/2024 20:49

Reform UK Ltd is nothing more than a vehicle to keep the cash rolling into Nigel's account.

I mean a quick glance of their manifesto and you can see clear as day they're not a serious political party. Virtually every policy is utterly unworkable and they can't even be bothered to spellcheck or format their own website properly ffs.

Their position on migration is literally in the realms of shouting at the sea and I'm really not sure how nobody has cottoned on the fact that net zero migration i.e., letting the same number of migrants in as people who leave the UK would do nothing to 'stop the erosion of British values, identity and culture' as they claim. Unless they're planning to stop 'British' people leaving the UK of course.

But Nigel doesn't really want the debate on migration to end. His entire career has been based on getting people riled up about it and it's completely dependent on it continuing.

The absolute worst thing that could happen to Nigel is Reform Ltd becoming a serious political force. You just need to look at the disappearing act he pulled after leave won the brexit referendum to see he's all talk and has no intention of ever following through on any of the crap he says.

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 20:49

Why do you think the party "faithful" voted for Truss in the first place, instead of Sunak?

Sunak only got in because he was unopposed.

But they're definitely not racist!

ThisOldThang · 04/06/2024 20:51

Policies?

lightisnotwhite · 04/06/2024 20:54

And yet people still risk their lives at vast expense to come to a country of moronic racist, Brexit voters from enlightened EU France.
Amazing.

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 20:57

ThisOldThang · 04/06/2024 20:51

Policies?

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/06/2024 20:59

Farage is not interested in this election, he is interested in the next - after a collapse of the Tory party he will form a 'new conservative' with the likes of Patel, Badenoch, Braverman etc and form an opposition. He is not interested in anything other than the sound of his own voice he said 'I can't let down millions of people' which is bullshit -he plays to people's irrational fears. 'Take our country back' etc. even today he claimed that there were streets in Oldham where nobody spoke English - and scarily people believe him.
Nigel Farage is only interested in Nigel Farage.

Zero net immigration still equates to 600,000 immigrants per year.

I'm not sure why allowing 600k people into the country is considered to be 'hating foreigners'.

We have a housing crisis. Rents are becoming unaffordable. GDP pet capita is stagnant. Public services are overwhelmed and failing.

Limiting immigration to those with the skills that we need seems entirely sensible to me.

Agree with this 100%. Our infrastructure is collapsing. Housing especially so. Followed very closely by the NHS. It’s mad that we have people on waiting lists in temporary accommodation for years just to be housed, yet we are letting more and more people come in, many of whom have no skills and no hope of purchasing their own home, hold down a job and pay taxes. Why are both Labour and the Tories now focusing so much on immigration control coming up to the next GE? Because they are aware the majority of the voting public consider this a priority.

bombastix · 04/06/2024 21:01

Actually immigration is not top of the public’s concerns. But it suits some to say that it is

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 21:05

Our infrastructure is collapsing.

This is the issue. And it's nothing to do with immigration, but everything to do with the government's policies. They can't improve our infrastructure and line their own pockets...

CaravaggiosCat · 04/06/2024 21:08

Harvestfestivalknickers · 04/06/2024 13:40

What makes you want to vote for them rather than a Lib Dem, Green or Independent? Is it just you don't want to vote for Labour or Conservative? Or do you agree with their policies? You are free to vote for whatever party you want!

Anyone that gives nut jobs like Mothin Ali a voice shouldn't be getting any votes, its a very slippery slope ( I'm looking at you Green Party 🤨)

HannibalHeyes · 04/06/2024 21:11

As opposed to nut jobs like Farage, Tice, Leanderthal etc...
