Just that really. I want to be all impressed with it again.

Like many others I didn't like the way the iOS7 update changed the calendar. I much preferred the old one as it was easier to see what I have on. However, I found if I click on search it brings up a clear list of future events. It's hard to explain but if the calendar irritates it might be worth trying this out.

How do you access Siri again?

ApoqA · 11/05/2014 16:52

Press and hold the home button or raise your phone to speak - it depends how you have it set up.

However, that assumes it's turned on. To turn it on
Settings>>>>General>>>>SIRI>>>> toggle it on

Personally I have it set only to work when I press and hold the home button.

If you have the problem I did, ie the on/off switch on the top of the phone gets broken or stops working and can't be mended thanks Mr so-called Apple Genius who merely tried to flog me a new one you don't have to rush out and replace the phone, if it's otherwise working fine.

You can go into Settings -> Accessibility -> Assistive Touch and then just turn the phone off via a little dot that will appear on the screen. It will come on again as soon as you plug it in to a power source.

I'm still happily using mine, almost a year after that little switch decided to give up the ghost.

Halsall · 11/05/2014 17:38

What I should have added is that as well as turning the phone right off, you can also lock the screen -- and adjust volume, etc etc - with Assistive Touch too, and it wakes up in the normal way when you press the home button...

How do you use the location based reminder thing with siri??

I'm VERY interested in that as I can't remember anything. How does siri know when I'm home Confused

ApoqA · 11/05/2014 23:14

Using location based reminders with Siri For iOS7

_Make sure Siri is activated

Settings >>> general >>>>> Siri >> TOGGLE Siri ON

Make sure location services is turned on and accessible by 'reminders'

Settings >>>> privacy >>> location services >>> TOGGLE ON >>>>

then scroll down to 'reminders' and TOGGLE ON

Make sure you have any locations you might use in your contact list along with the locations 'name'.

That should be it. You can then ask Siri to remind you to do whatever when you arrive or leave at a location. It's also really easy to ask Siri to remind you to do something at a particular time. For example, I might ask Siri to remind me to phone mum once a fortnight on Mondays at 9 in the morning.

It can take a little practice but I can nearly always to get it to work first time. I have set SIRI to give 'voice feedback' so I know if it doesn't understand

Settings >>> general >>> Siri >> voice feedback TOGGLE 'Always'

Incidentally, using location services does use more battery life.

ApoqA · 11/05/2014 23:20

TelephoneTree. Siri knows you are home because it uses the info in your contacts.

You can also specify that it uses your info by

Settings >>>> general >>> Siri >>> my info. Then you can select your contact details.

This way you just have to say 'home' or 'work' or 'other' as you can enter multiple addresses under your own contact details.

This is a great thread!
I would use Siri more but he never bloody understands me.
The torch is really handy when you're plucking eyebrows in front of a mirror (and/or any other facial hair you may have Blush) and you don't have a good level of light. No hair will be missed. Bet you wouldn't find that in an Apple manual.

Georgethesecond · 12/05/2014 09:04

Does anyone know a way of making a big picture of your contact come up when they ring you. You know, like it used to? So you put in really nice photos and now they just show in a stupid tiny circle

Oldieandgoldie · 12/05/2014 10:37

I know how to zoom up to the top of the page but does anyone know how to quickly zoom down to the bottom of the page?

careeristbitchnigel · 18/05/2014 22:16

promise I don't use it to get an extra half an hours sleep in the morning by setting up ds with the iPhone and peppa pig in the bed next to me

Neither do I...

cremolafoam · 18/05/2014 23:53

If you tap the screen twice with 3 fingertips it will go HUGE. Repeat to reverse.Grin
