Thanks Doctrine!
I'd never paid much attention to that screen..
Good to know now when I'm frantically looking fir dts's dummy in the middle of the night

GwenStacy · 10/05/2014 10:42

For the autocomplete, it's Settings > General > Keyboard > scroll right to the bottom, then "add new shortcut"

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 10/05/2014 10:46

Thanks Gwen

Lovewhereilive · 10/05/2014 10:48

Am so impressed with the calculator tip - I never knew!!

Raskova · 10/05/2014 11:04

Plush, yes it'll be on your iPad but you shouldn't lose anything. I once thought I did and went into my pictures about an hour later they were all there safe and sound Grin

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 10/05/2014 11:34

I've got iCloud on my phone and my computer. It updates stuff from my phone to my computer automatically. That way you get to keep all your photos even if you break your phone.

Wish I'd had it a couple of years ago when I dropped my phone and it wouldn't come on anymore. Lost about six months of photos, including dd2's second birthday that I'd forgot to back up. Sad

NomDePrune · 10/05/2014 11:50

Gwenstacey, that shortcut thing has changed my life already! Especially as the mobile site logs me out every time, even if I tick keep me logged in. Thanks!

madeupstuff · 10/05/2014 12:00

Triple-click the home button to invert the colours - useful for mn'ing in the darkness.

Glittertwins · 10/05/2014 12:32

So many useful things here, thanks! The caps lock thing was bugging me loads and I had forgotten how to close down apps as my iPad does it differently!

zen1 · 10/05/2014 12:44

Angelto5 you have solved the mystery of why there are loads of screenshots from the cbeebies app of Andy's Dinosaur Adventures in my photos!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 10/05/2014 13:05

Ilove, do you still have the phone?

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 10/05/2014 16:31

When taking photos with your iPhone rather than press the button once, hold your finger down. This takes as many pictures as possible until you release your finger. Discarding an otherwise great picture because of a blinker will never happen to you again.

Did anyone see this? I'm always being blown away by technology but definitely something to quietly keep your eye on if you suspect your other half of cheating. and you have unfettered access to their phone of course

Does anyone know how to delete multiple emails at once? My phone gets everything my computer does and it most cases I'd like to delete them all at once but I only know how to trash them one at a time.

PseudoBadger · 10/05/2014 16:56

Click edit (top right) then select them and move to trash

Raskova · 10/05/2014 18:11

Yourma, is that only on the newest iPhones? My 4 (not s) doesn't have frequent locations???

zen1 · 10/05/2014 18:38

I found frequent locations on my 2.5 year old 4S (and switched it off!)

OwlCapone · 10/05/2014 18:39

My "frequent locations" would be dull and uninteresting.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 10/05/2014 20:08

When you go to the weather app if you press where it shows the temperature you will get more detailed weather such as the humidity etc!

Cirsium · 10/05/2014 20:18

I discovered yesterday, after a minor panic that if it completely dies for no apparent reason even though it has plenty of charge you should hold down the home button and power button together until apple symbol appears (may take several seconds) and it should reboot itself. Apparently you can also link it to iTunes on a PC and reset it that way.

Glittertwins · 10/05/2014 20:25

That frequent locations is very misleading! For example, my history has got me down at a neighbours house about 20 times in the past 2 months but I've never set foot inside the house. Good job my DH is not the obsessive type or I'd be in trouble

nearlyreadyforstatelyhomes · 10/05/2014 20:40

Great thread! Getting my shiny new 5s on Monday!! In the meantime am using a 4s with the old operating system and one thing that drives me barmy is not being able to see what date photos were taken (unless they are downloaded on to a pc) - or am I missing something??

cate16 · 10/05/2014 21:18

I think you need to be careful with the 'frequent locations' apps. When I tracked myself cutting my grass (I was bored OK!!) it showed that I went to my neighbours house about six doors along (with my mower) then went into the middle of the field opposite my house.

lovelidl · 10/05/2014 21:30

The location services has just blown my mind! Grin I spent more time at work than at home and not many places in between Hmm

Macey78 · 10/05/2014 22:13

Can I just ask if anyone knows how to sync the calendar on macbook/iphone and ipad. It's driving me crazy doing it seperately.

SarfEasticated · 10/05/2014 22:23

I would love to know how to set my iphone to automatically change to wifi at home and data while I'm out. drives me mad having to change it
