  1. Can I turn off the auto correct thumbing gaaaaaaah SEE it won't let me type thing-umy.

2.is there any way of adding the apostrophe key onto the qwerty screen instead of having it in the .?123 screen. Blardy annoying having to dip in and out of screens to put a apostrophe in. Can I exchange it for one of the shift arrows? I only need one.

  1. How do I scroll up and down in the mn message box. Can't work out how to move to the bottom or top of the text after I have previewed it.
  1. Will I ever be able to stop playing Angry Birds?

Slubber
I bought a cup measure doodah from the American store here. So much easier than getting the scales out all the time.

Soupdragon
Do you use Blogger? When I click on the pic, I get a thingy along the bottom where I can change the format.

Don't get disheartened when I use really technical terms.

Can I have a nosy at your blog?

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 11/01/2011 21:55

Thanks Rustybear - will try it again next time I make a long post. This thread has been most informative.

brambleschooks · 11/01/2011 22:37

Oh oh oh. I have discovered another wonder.

If you double tap the ipad near the bottom of the screen it will scroll down for you. Useful if you are feeling slightly temperamental whilst reading.

Gosh I am giving you my best moves. Pondering whether it makes me seem technologically needy.

brambleschooks · 11/01/2011 22:38

Indeed. If you double tap the left, right or top, it wil
Scroll on that direction.

It still can't bloody spell though.

RustyBear · 11/01/2011 23:05

Have downloaded blogshelf and found your blog MmeLindt- but why can I only see the first few lines of each post? On others I can see it all....

MmeLindt · 12/01/2011 07:55

Oh, did not know the double tap thing. Very good. Bet I am only using about 2% of the available gadgettery on the iPad.

Rusty
Can you try Blogshelf again, I have changed the settings.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2011 11:11

Well, that explains a lot of things... when I haul my ass over to the PC to edit the blog there area a whole host of options which are unavailable looking at it via Safari on the iPad!

MmeLindt · 12/01/2011 12:43

Reading your blog now. LOL at the Greek alphabet. Do you still have it?

SoupDragon · 12/01/2011 13:04

It is entirely possible it is in the loft somewhere along with some relics fro the last ice age. However, I do think I threw it out :o

RustyBear · 12/01/2011 19:04

Sorry, MmeLindt, still not getting more than a few lines on the original blogshelf page, and the 'View Clean article' link, which on my friend Kate Shrewsday's blog (the only non-original one I've added so far) takes me to the page with comments, just goes to an index page with links to individual entries, none of which work....

Still, I can still read it by using the View original article link, so that's good.

RustyBear · 12/01/2011 19:09

Have just added SoupDragon's, which is fine - and it also comes complete with photo on the front whereas MmeLindt & Kate's both just have one of those geometrical designs.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2011 19:34

Oh god.... which photo??

RustyBear · 12/01/2011 21:41

The burger and the book...

MmeLindt · 12/01/2011 22:40

That is strange, Rusty. It works here.

I get a photo if the first post has one, otherwise the geometrical designs. Will have to make sure I always start with a photo.

Currently I am putting apps on my DH's new iPhone. I finally persuaded him away from his Blackberry.

Do you know any good business/finance/car/gossip apps.

He likes to keep up to date with the gossip pages :o

FreeButtonBee · 12/01/2011 22:49

Adding a 'scroll to end' bookmark On the bookmark bar is reLly useful for super long threads. See the instructions on this webpage here

SoupDragon · 13/01/2011 10:28

Oh, those are clever :o

Slubberdegullion · 13/01/2011 20:26

Ipads aren't meant to break are they? I thought they were meant to be robust. Yesterday couldn't access the calendar, just got a blank screen, today the internet is broken, frozen on GOML's poas thread.

Have I got a duff one?

It's only been up and running for a week .

brambleschooks · 13/01/2011 21:17

They do freak occasionally. They need the occasional hard restart done by holding the circle button and the on/off button at the top in together for about 10 seconds until the apple symbol appears.

If it persists it would be worth mentioning to the seller incase you have a dodgy one.

MmeLindt · 13/01/2011 21:24

Oh, that is annoying, Slubber. Can you switch it off and on again?

Slubberdegullion · 13/01/2011 21:24

Will try a hard restart then, ta bramble.

Am annoyed by two days of brokeness tbh, that and I am totally and utterly stuck on an angry bird level and got laughed at by the dds.

Slubberdegullion · 13/01/2011 21:25

MmeLindt · 13/01/2011 21:26

That is what our IT man always said.

Slubberdegullion · 13/01/2011 21:32

I presume he synched it with iTunes.

If you are still having problems, you can try a reset, but make sure you synch first to save all photos, apps etc.

brambleschooks · 13/01/2011 21:54

I sometimes have to restart our router to sort out iPad Internet freezes.
