  1. Can I turn off the auto correct thumbing gaaaaaaah SEE it won't let me type thing-umy.

2.is there any way of adding the apostrophe key onto the qwerty screen instead of having it in the .?123 screen. Blardy annoying having to dip in and out of screens to put a apostrophe in. Can I exchange it for one of the shift arrows? I only need one.

  1. How do I scroll up and down in the mn message box. Can't work out how to move to the bottom or top of the text after I have previewed it.
  1. Will I ever be able to stop playing Angry Birds?

  1. No.

TequilaMockinBird · 10/01/2011 13:25

Unfortunately I can't answer 1, 2 or 3 but...

  1. Yes, once you discover 'where's wally' - there's an HD version too! :o
clayre · 10/01/2011 13:26

clayre · 10/01/2011 13:27

Where's Wally you say? I haven't discovered that yet.....

TequilaMockinBird · 10/01/2011 13:30

Yes Clayre, the original is better than the Hollywood one though IMO!

Slubberdegullion · 10/01/2011 13:40

  1. I think you get used to it and remember to check what you have typed more often! I.e. Don't know!
  1. If I am typing something where it really doesn't matter too much about exact grammar (apols to all you pedants), I just type a comma in place of an apostrophe. I.e. Don't know!
  1. I eventually managed it on one website but don't know how and it is verrry annoying. I.e. Don't know!

4 you need 'cut the rope' or 'fling' Wink

NetworkGuy · 10/01/2011 14:16

"Well you lot are a FAT LOT OF USE"

What do you expect in 15 minutes ? Half the iPad users are still asleep, the others are at work, and don't have time !

:) :) :)

Slubberdegullion · 10/01/2011 15:06

NetworkGuy my expectations of the mn massive are very high. I expect, nay demand instant clever and helpful replies. Grin

And what do you mean asleep? What Are these iPad users doing at 3:05 when they should be helping me?

Lol DaftApeth @ fling

I'd love to know how to scroll, that is really annoying.

Tee2072 · 10/01/2011 15:59

I don't have an iPad but on my iPhone if you hold your finger in the box where you type you get a magnify glass icon and then you can drag up or down to scroll.

There is no way to adjust the keyboard that I've found.

I don't know about autocorrect.

I actually got bored of Angry birds and started to play Cut The Rope instead.

NetworkGuy · 10/01/2011 17:11

LoL Slubberdegullion - the MN Massive is not the iPad Massive

You can 'expect' all you want....

They're still asleep I tell 'ee, Cap'n ! :)

Slubberdegullion · 10/01/2011 17:22

The gigantic hive Brian of mn has yet to fail me.

Tee I am putting my finger on the screen and have got the magnifying icon

I wonder what will happen if I write this down here, will I be able to go up there again. Testing testing

Yay!

It worked

SEE network guy. Mn geniusness at work.

Thanks Tee Grin

DaftApeth · 10/01/2011 18:06

Tee, I tried that on MN and it works on here but on another site I use, it doesn't!

I had to put one finger the outer page (almost to hold it still Hmm) and use another finger to scroll the info in the box (if that makes sense).

I'm trying t think of other websites that I couldn't scroll.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2011 18:09
  1. You can turn autocorrect off in the settings somewhere.
  2. If you press and hold the ! , key, it gives you an apostrophe
  3. press and hols in the box and move the magnifier up and down
  4. Yes. We Rule... I'll say no more.
SoupDragon · 10/01/2011 18:12

Damn you autocorrect!

Tee2072 · 10/01/2011 18:22

Huh. I don't know Daft. MN is the only site I use that has a message box. All the other ones I have an App for!

RustyBear · 10/01/2011 18:23

Seeing that SoupDragon has only left one thing for me to add - you turn off AutoCorrect in Settings-General-Keyboard, where you can also turn on the shortcut that gives you a full stop, space and capitalises the next letter when you double-tap the space bar. Though I am leaving mine on for now and making a collection of the more interesting results. (someone> dimwit is my favourite so far)

Though actually, I am trying a new way to do my apostrophes, having found that I have developed the habit of holding down the apostrophe key on my laptop at work, which just gives me a row of the damn things.

So now I do the 'punctuation slide' where you touch the punctuation key (use the right hand one) and as the keyboard changes just slide your finger over to the apostrophe key, and when you let go it gives you an apostrophe and then reverts to the abc keyboard. It works for other punctuation too.

brambleschooks · 10/01/2011 18:26

Oh slugfest (iPad spellcheck for slubber!!), you are being assimilated.

  1. Yes somewhere in settings but it's fun seeing what the pissed gypsy who wrote it comes up with.
  1. Meh
  1. Use your finger. Also if you touch the grey text next to the time at the top it will zoom back up.
  1. No. But that is before you have discovered the evil genius that is bookworm and peggle.
MmeLindt · 10/01/2011 18:27

Posting on here to get it on Threads I am on and try out the scrolly thing.

LBsmum · 10/01/2011 18:28

Beware the smurfs, angry birds pah

MmeLindt · 10/01/2011 18:28

Testing

Ooh, now I know what you mean.

What else can I learn?

MmeLindt · 10/01/2011 18:31

Oh, and clever Soupy as shown me how to do ' apostrophe.

The wonder of MN. '

Rusty's method works too.

I leave autocorrect on as it adds apostrophes when needed.

DaftApeth · 10/01/2011 18:34

Oh oh oh, whilst all the iPad know-alls experts seem to be here.

Why won't my iPad link with my mobile via Bluetooth. I switched Bluetooth on on both, I think.

I can transfer photos from my phone to my laptop easily using Bluetooth very easily.

Is it cos I is not using an I-phone?

RustyBear · 10/01/2011 18:38

My iPad no longer autocorrects slubber, but it does underline it in red and offers as repacements slumber, snubber and slobber.

And when I typed that sentence, it autocorrected snubber to snubbed and slobber to skinner....
