In theory "re-marks" are now reviews of marking (since around 2016), so if one examiner just has a difference of opinion from another, the original mark stands. However, DS's GCSE English Literature was WJEC and went from a 6 to a 9 on review in 2017, so maybe WJEC apply the rules differently, or it could be that English Lit is different.
As advised to previous posters, as it is not urgent, I would advise you to get the papers back, ask a friendly English teacher to review the marking, and request a review of marking for the papers most likely to go up. I heard of someone who needed about 3 points, put all papers in for a review and 1 paper went up 4, but another went down 2!
We don't have UMS in England any more, that is not a thing for Linear A levels. Wales still has UMS so that you can combine AS and A level marks.
