Phones are encouraged on covid wards because no visitors. But they really don't need the other end on a speaker. I felt sorry for the guy in A and E who hadn't brought his charger . His wife came and took his phone off him through the window. I don't know why she didn't bring his charger!

icanbewhatiwant · 22/08/2021 14:44

I took both ds1 and Ds2 to the walk-in covid vacc. centre this morn. Second vaccine for ds1 first for Ds2. Ds2 refused to let ds1 take him, he also wouldn't drive Ds1 there himself. Seemed silly for them to go separately...so I drove them. Am I the only one with awkward dc's? At least it's done.

Zandathepanda · 22/08/2021 15:37

icanbe You must be pleased they are done but yes my two daughters squabbles can drive me to distraction. Today’s is one’s objection of the ‘polluting’ of a clothes order by having her sister’s order also on her account because it gets faster delivery. They are now doing it separately as two orders. Even the dog rolled its eyes.

Piggy glad you’re out. Do not get out of bed unless it’s to lie on the sofa!

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2021 15:41

Been told to move about as much as possible zanda but that mainly involves moving from armchair to chair outside to bed! Since T and T have isolated me again, no choice really....

icanbewhatiwant · 22/08/2021 16:27

@Zandathepanda glad it's not just me then...the worst I've had is in the car, he's breathing my air or he's looking out my window 🤷‍♀️

@Piggywaspushed you have to isolate again? That's not good. They had my mum isolating 12 days. That was enough, not that she goes far anyway.

Monkey2001 · 22/08/2021 16:52

@Piggywaspushed glad you are out, day in hospital sounds awful.

@AnneOfCleavage technically everyone over 18 at Boardmasters should be isolating unless they are double jabbed and got a negative PCR test as so many people had it that I can't imagine anyone was not the close contact if a positive person! Not sure how it works for

whoamitojudge · 22/08/2021 17:11

@Piggywaspushed Hope you feel better soon

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2021 17:17

Thanks all, feeling OK. Just failed in a nap so can't be that tired.

This Boardmasters thing worries me for return to school and Reading etc. Let's hope they all get tested!

Hope all sick kids from it are doing fine, and their families too. My DS who has virtually never been out got it from being breathed on by his brother so lightning can strike even the most homebodied!

There was a young lad, maybe 16, in A and E yesterday just being sick all the time. Poor boy was exhausted and his mum was 8 1/2 months pregnant. What a night for her.

AnneOfCleavage · 22/08/2021 18:30

Monkey DD's friend is 17 so doesn't have to isolate technically I believe. It just me feeling cautious. Eek!

MidLifeCrisis007 · 22/08/2021 18:57

It's a week since DD caught Covid. Interestingly she has no sense of smell at all. Couldn't smell TCP on cotton wool just now! She's feeling fine though, just a bit tired.

whoamitojudge · 22/08/2021 21:53

DD has tickets for Wireless on Sunday and after reading about Boardmasters is getting a bit worried. Shes had her first vaccine but isn't due her 2nd until the end of Sept

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2021 22:04

DS still can't smell...three weeks now. Mine's back but everything smells overpowering.

ProggyMat · 22/08/2021 22:06

DD hasn’t any tickets for any upcoming festivals- was a source of ‘annoyance’ at several points in time Hmm
However, there are lots of tickets being sold by those in possession of them?
As an aside, is anyone else thinking how quickly summer has passed and now ‘back to school’ stuff needs to bought for the last time

ProggyMat · 22/08/2021 22:15

Should have added a Shock face about ‘back to school’ stuff for the last time but Ddog decided to jump on my lap! Grin

icanbewhatiwant · 23/08/2021 19:06

I picked Ds2 up from work. He is complaining of a slightly tight chest after the covid vaccine. He also feels a bit shivery and achey, that's not the problem but when I read in the after care leaflet to call 111 if they have chest problems it made me worry a bit. Called 111 and it says they are busy and to go online. I filled out nurse call back, I didn't mention covid but it said he was to self isolate and a member of the covid team will call me back within 6 hours. That's not helpful. I'm sure he is fine. But still saying his chest is tight. Meanwhile ds1 who had second vaccine, had no side effects at all.

Zandathepanda · 23/08/2021 20:35

icanbe hope Ds2 feels better soon. 111 is a bit of a nightmare at the best of times.

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2021 21:12

I have had a lot of 111 experience lately... the ones who were meant to call me back never did. But the actual call handlers are usually very reassuring.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/08/2021 21:47

Yes they did call. She just said as long as he hasn't got pains in his chest or palpitations then not to worry. I just called out to see if he's ok and he said yes. I'd forgotten about how poorly he was after baby vaccines. They gave him something different for his third lot as baby...i don't know what...but he was fine after, whereas he'd had a high temp for about 5 days after the first 2. Then the vaccines in year 11 he also had a high temp for 2 days. I'm sure he will be fine after a good sleep. It's weird how it effects us all so differently, as does covid.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/08/2021 21:48

@Piggywaspushed I hope you are feeling better.

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2021 21:48

Do you have an oximeter at all?

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2021 21:49

A bit yes, thanks ican. Sulking because didn't get my Bath trip today Sad

Fferny1 · 23/08/2021 22:19

I think this vaccine can cause weird side effects. Dd1 went full on psycho for a couple of days after her second vaccination. Then had really bad cramps for 3 days & ended up vomiting due to the pain when her period started. Now she's fine, but it was a Rocky few days. She's normally fairly calm & easy going.

icanbewhatiwant · 24/08/2021 07:12

@Piggywaspushed that's good you are feeling better...even if you are sulking.

I just sent Ds a text incase he was asleep. I asked how he is, he said breathing same as yesterday, I asked if he should stay home from work, I don't know was the reply. Yes...we do have one of those oxymeter things. He's gone in the shower anyway. He does a very dusty so could just be that.

Volterra · 24/08/2021 07:28

Sorry to hear DS unwell Icanbe, hope he is back to normal this morning.

Sympathies on the Bath trip Piggy. We haven’t been able to go anywhere this summer as DS is unwell and didn’t go anywhere last year with the Covid situation so it’s feeling like a long summer. Had been hoping to go and look at a few universities but that’s gone out the window.

Emailed College yesterday to let them know what has happened and they are being lovely so he can take a later train and not have to worry about it being delayed. He has the option to do another couple of exams if he would like his UCAS predictions reviewed given he was so unwell when he sat his last ones and we didn’t realise.

Piggywaspushed · 24/08/2021 07:29

hope he starts feeling much better soon volterra.
